I've talked with other people who claim to have access to the spirit world. Their explanations were quite a bit more complex than yours. There is, according to a friend of mine, a 'type' of spirit that is indeed like what you describe. She claims our spirit splits at death though and the part you describe is something like our heart mind, or emotional energetic body. She has said that this is what often gets trapped near the physical world because of emotional attachments to the physical world. Even if I saw a spirit with my own eyes, I would have to be awfully presumptuous to assume that what I'd seen is indicative of anything more that that's what I saw. Similarly, if aliens landed in my back yard and looked a certain way, acted a certain way; I wouldn't assume that ALL aliens looked and acted just like the ones that landed in my back yard.

I know what they mean in D&D, but not Chinese mythology. Would also love to hear from someone who is familiar with the topic.

What sort of test do you have in mind?

I was doing GOT I last Sunday and had a unusual experience. All of a sudden I got the strong sensation that I was being watched. I turned around and saw what appeared to be a dense energy body moving into the room with me. This kind of freaked me out to say the least, but it was also very energizing. I continued my practice and I could feel an almost immediate difference in the quality of the movements. One move in particular (the one right before zig-zag through ghostland) was seriously energized. I felt like my body was plugged in to a power outlet. That was the peak though. After that move the energy slowly decrescendo-ed back down to about what I'm used to. It just occurred to me that I forgot to thank whoever (whatever) was watching me practice. I guess in that moment I was a little apprehensive about it. Looking back, it seems like a blessing.

Awesome! Thanks for letting us know!

That would make a great slogan for Mo Pai!

I didn't want to discuss it. You did. Or perhaps you didn't want to discuss anything. Maybe you just wanted to point out a disagreement I'm already well aware of. Is that it? Did you just want to remind me that you're still here and you still think your kung fu is better than mine?

You have family there, or just really like mountains and potatoes? You could move to Iowa. We don't have any mountains, not so many potatoes either, but there's lots of corn! Also, we're often confused with Idaho, so maybe the two are similar. I dunno, I've never been to Idaho.

I respectfully announce my resignation from the Dojo...

That's quite a list! And you didn't even mention your stewardship on TaoBums. Good luck with the healing! -

Yeah, I would say the instructor/students are going to determine how good or bad your experience way more than the style. -
I'm not sure which sums up American politics better.

I had the same issue with a black belt in my Aikido class a few years ago. (geez . . . has it been 7???) In that situation he was the one with the unchecked aggression, though. Anyway, I think it sounds like you'd enjoy more MMA-type classes. Maybe look into Thai kickboxing or Jiujitsu. Or both. -
I don't think I could, in good conscience, set foot in Seattle. Not after this football season.

Whoa, who derailed WHAT??? Let's take a look back: Here I am, telling the OP about the quirks of traveling to Missouri: Here you are butting in: "Hey, it's me, Thunder Gooch! Just wanted to let you know your practice is weak! Hi-yuck!"

No no . . . that thread is for purging our hatred of mo pai. Every other thread on the board is for unsolicited criticism of all practices that are not mo pai.

You're right. I really do care about you. I'm concerned about you, actually.

Shouldn't you be meditating?

Believe it or not, they are actually flying commercial airplanes into and out of Springfield, Missouri. Granted, they don't always make it there on time. And if a storm happens to be rolling through, you might end up stuck in Chicago or Kansas City and then you'll have to drive a rental car the rest of the way. Still, people have done that and felt it was totally worth it for a weekend of high-level energetics.

A varied and sundry list of powers. You say you want to heal others 'especially', though, yeah? I would recommend studying with Michael Lomax for that. Some of his students have been able to perform qi healing after one weekend (three days) of training. He has a seminar coming up in March.

Ah. Yeah, the signature tab doesn't appear in my settings.
