  2. Kung Fu Stances: The Book.

Good web site! I have the Santi Shi page bookmarked. Great resource! http://www.ycgf.org/Articles/XY_SanTiShi/XY_SanTiShi.html
  3. Why Do We Focus On Dan Tian ?

English, Doc! EDIT: For the OP. I hear we place our focus on the dan tien because it's the center of gravity in our body and a natural place for energy to accumulate. Also, that area of the body is sort of the 'source' of the breathing mechanism. My advice to you would be to notice that area of your body. Pay attention to it without looking for anything in particular and just see what you notice. What does it feel like? Does the feeling change when you walk, run, climb a tree? Does the feeling change when you sit quietly or lay down?
  4. Yeah, he says repeatedly in the book that you don't have to practice that particular form, but that you have to have some sort of practice. I wasn't aware that it could simply be a standing practice, but I guess I don't see any reason why it couldn't be either. I have found that the best way for me to feel the energy movement he talks about is with silk-reeling-type exercises.
  5. Is the NFL rigged?

    Whoa . . . dats a lotta rotten bonanas!
  6. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

Do you suppose, every time they level up, they hear music; like in a Final Fantasy game? EDIT: Ba da da da da dun dun daaaaaaaaa!
  7. Ah. Well, he ties it in pretty tightly to his practice of Cheng Man-Ch'ing's T'ai Chi; but still an interesting read, even for a non-T'ai Chi practitioner.
  8. No kidding! What about Meredith's book interests you?
  9. poem for that girl

I told her ghost stories and gave her chills she held my hand and I felt them too she talked of video games and online thrills I told her Super Mario was all I knew She asked why I favored the old and the lame I told her I liked my world colored in natural light She wanted me to play her colorful games She wanted a kiss before the end of the night When our drinks were gone and the talk was done I swallowed the kiss back down my throat she stepped out into the cold at nearly a run she bowed her head and bundled her coat

  11. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

Is that what that thread is for? I mistook it for a serious discussion. Silly me!
  12. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

*shrug* You don't become a Super Saiyan until level 150,000,000.
  13. Sounds like you have most of the things we've suggested so far! I've read Meredith's book and really enjoyed it. Do you already have a T'ai Chi form you practice? If not, you might want to pick one up. These are the T'ai Chi videos I would recommend: Jerry Alan Johnson's Tai Chi: The Empowering Workout Yang Style T'ai-Chi Ch'uan: Warm Ups, Standing Meditation, Ch'i Kung, First Section (volume 1) Yang Style T'ai-Chi Ch'uan Solo Form and Applications (volume 2) Whenever Meredith's Tai Chi PENG video comes out, I'll be getting that as well.
  14. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

What makes you so sure Mo Pai is so good at breaking one free from rebirth. In fact, what makes you so sure that rebirth is something that happens, in the first place?
  15. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

I dunno. $800 for the introductory DVD and $1000 for a workshop? Why would anyone buy the DVD?
  16. Why on earth would one practice more than one system?

Can't say I totally disagree . . . as Grand Master Wai Lun Choi once said, "Don't talk about style--only one style--human style!"
  17. Is the NFL rigged?

Thanks for sharing that! Funniest thing I've read today!
  18. Why on earth would one practice more than one system?

In my case, I started off training in T'ai Chi with an instructor who had only really practiced standing meditation and hard styles of Ch'i Kung. I asked about the softer, more energetic types of Ch'i Kung (at the time I was interested in Wild Goose) and he handed me a book and basically told me that practicing Ch'i Kung was a waste of time. His argument was that T'ai Chi is already advanced Ch'i Kung. He was taking for granted that perhaps, at the time, I wasn't ready for advanced Ch'i Kung. Being the stubborn and curious student that I am, I pursued Ch'i Kung with a passion anyway; trying Spring Forest, 8 Pieces of Brocade a la Yang Jwing Ming, Flying Phoenix, and, finally, Gift of the Tao and Michael's Stillness-Movement system. I'm really glad I've had the opportunity to try a few different systems. I think it's made me a more well-rounded practitioner and has given me a better idea of what's out there. Ultimately, I think you need to stick your flag in the sand somewhere, though, if you want to get the deep and rich benefits of a system. Now that I've become more sensitive, I do see that my T'ai Chi instructor was right: T'ai Chi is advanced Ch'i Kung. But it took me a few years of diligent Ch'i Kung practice to recognize that and I'm not sure that I ever would have stuck with it if I wouldn't have been practicing Ch'i Kung as well.
  19. Kung Fu Stances: The Book.

    I haven't read it but . . . $30 for a spiral-bound workbook that teaches 7 stances? Pay me $30 and I'll teach you 10 stances over skype in 1 hour.
  20. Is the NFL rigged?

How would you use the I-ching to gamble? Specifically, to pick horses? I don't bet on football games very often, but I love to play the ponies. I never win much, but I don't bet a lot of money either. I once won $600 on a $6 trifecta. That was a good day.
  21. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

That's a good description. I once tried to get my roommate to feel chi. Instead of doing like this person did, he just stood there giving me an insulting, skeptical look. You have to relax, chi doesn't flow through tension.
  22. TTBs meetup! :)

A month sooner and you could have it coincide with JAJ's seminar. Also in Monterey: http://www.qigongmedicine.com/new-seminar-2014/
  23. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

    A profound statement, worth repeating.
  24. Mopai nei kung, there has to be an equivalent!

The OP's entire premise is flawed. "A true warrior is not complete without true training from a system that is mo pai." The resident expert on Mo Pai says the point of the system is to create immortals, not warriors. You want Hsing Yi, I think. True warriors know when to use water fist, and when to use cannon fist.
