  1. New from Louisville area

Welcome! This web site has helped me tremendously, very helpful people here. I too reside in KY. On the TN border in Clinton County. Got started in Ng Family as a youngster and am now playing baguazhang which brought me here! The more I learn about Taoism the more the Baguazhang makes sense. lol
  2. Dynamic vs still...

As a kid I meditated on my butt at least thirty minutes a day. I have only recently started to try it again. Reason is, the results I get from wuji are what I am looking for at this time in my baguazhang play. I am reading a book on sitting meditations, but for the most part the last two years my meditation has been done both still(ZZ) and dynamic(bagua circle turning with static postures), which if done right, the dynamic still finds "stillness" in one's motion. Don't mean to be redundant as I have seen the "stillness in motion" herein a few times already. For a beginner though, I would recommend Zhan Zhuang. Suppose I need to put more time into sitting, eh?
  3. Infinite Fractal Tangent; Sacred Geometry; E=M*C^2

This sparked some thought for me, at the least. What got me was "viruses have chakras" Seems sensible to me...
  4. Here is a four part series I found on youtube about two years ago. Herein is some tapping and moving taoist exercises, any opinions would be great. These guys also have some great lectures on some Taoist exercises and ZZ in particular. I highly recommend this channel! However some are not in English, sadly for moi. I will own Rosetta stone for Mandarin some day, lol .
  5. What are you listening to?

THE SPINNING SONG KNICK NACK PADDY WHAK GIVE YER DAWG A BONE BAY BAY KEEP YER MIND OPEN
  6. Kuan Yin Magnetic Qigong

Thanks for the kickin' post JB! Only now realized this was in the Kuan Yin thread, I do a qigong set but it is not the magnetic set that is being discussed here I think...
  7. demonic mantra

As a listener of what most label as black metal (used to be primarily satanic bands, now most have grown and the movement has proliferated in to many sub genres), for nearly twenty years, I find peace in much of it. I am sure that many have back masked mantras and such, some have admitted it. There are few of these REAL guys, IMO. I am merely commenting, i am not taking a stand for evil mantras that is for sure. Nowadays i don't listen to it as much to quite honest. I listen to a lot of buckethead/praxis, john zorn, Mr. Bungle, and always go back to Metallica. High on Fire is an excellent band who have lyrics from a christian perspective and yes there is some very good Christian "death" metal. Remember it is only a label. I can't doubt the power of spoken word, though... Great thread. I am far more
  8. End of relationship...

Pardon my ignorance but what did he say?
  9. End of relationship...

I JUST READ THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ABOUT WOMEN, SORRY Funny thing K, living for myself in a relationship is just plain hard. I have left evidence on this board of some of my worst moments brought on by an emotional overload. I call it love when I know she is the first to make me feel like this, I have learned, speaking out is NOT unfeminine, no matter how much I wish it was sometimes (joke), I can't find standing up for yourself unfeminine at all. I thought being femininity were the powers or strengths of a woman, to be frank. I feel like my daughter is my biggest gift to the world with me trying to be just as big a gift. I have seen ego in some posts, but I am not so sure I understand it, only that TOO much ego is a recipe for disaster. My better half and I had a HUGE argument a few days ago and she left. I was heartbroken and felt like a young child for my behavior in the incident, however we both agree and practice on forgiveness and I love her, feel that the feeling is reciprocated to me. We seem to have gotten out some deep issues during my undue intensity and so far they have been for the better. I hope this helped some.
  10. DGS's Dizzying DVD Collection

What does the tibetan burning palm cover?
  11. Fibbonacci Haiku

no Haiku here, just an observation it's all about poles and holes. that is all binary is. for example infinity is a part of the finite finite is part of the infinite which bring me to wuji-the beginning with no end
  12. While listen to a taoist lineage holder he mentioned that Baguazhang didn't have standing methods. He said bagua has static arm postures. If I understood right most of the bagua postures when done correctly direct the qi to desired locations. ...not really building chi, he said in bagua hte dan tian is for mixing yin/yang lower/upper preheaven/heaven. That is the unification of heaven and man in baguazhang. When both upper and lower halves are connected. My question is, since traditional baguazhang doesn't have standing, does this mean we shoudln't do it? Wang Shujin done it and in Kent Howards Linked Palm DVD he mentions primordial standing, however in Yang Jwing Ming and Master Liang Shou Yu's Baguazhang Theory and Application they make no mention of standing meditation. Would it be counter productive? I can only see benefits from proper ZZ postures. Not to mention my favorite, the Kunlun standing double vortex wave that Zerostao showed me,
  13. Yo, wachado?

Baguazhang and some chi kung. Also Zhan Zhuang. I dabble in the hsing yi, as I like to apply the elements in the baguazhang. Ting Sha Bell Meditation is important as well. ...and a couple of Kundalini practices.
  14. The Wu family vibrating palms are great tendon builders!
  15. @Ish-Yes, I mix up the eight mother palms. Also the static arm postures. I started holding just the palms in an embrace the tree fashion, then began to walk with them.
  16. I responded et-thoughts, might have took it where you were wanting to. I did offer two cents there, maybe get the ball rolling.
  17. It is the name of a Baguazhang school specializing in Thunder and Lightning, Bon Po Shamanism, Reiki arts in Hawaii. Lao Xie Chris Matsuo is head of it. (dude in the clip)They work on the development of wisdom and skill.
  18. What do you think you need?

I read that when or if one reaches a pure yang state, one will not cast a shadow. I anxiously await for this thread to unfold. What about tegli? (spelling may be wrong, where the the practitioner creates an embryo, is this embryo immortal?) Don't mean to derail the thread, just thought this would be a good place to ask. I have read the stories of sages found with holes in their head after death to let the spirit out, also read it feels like an ax splits the head.
  19. SONG as it relates to baguazhang

A good tip on how to see where your shoulders should be is: raise the arms vertically as far as you can with nearly no strain, just a slight stretch, then LET THE ARMS FALL. Do this in front of a mirror and where your shoulders end up after the drop is where they should hang. I have seen various highly skilled bagua practictioners both leave space and not leave space under the armpit in the dragon posture. I thought one always left a space in the armpit, this does hold true for baguazhang too?
  20. SONG as it relates to baguazhang

While this is a bit unrelated, after achieving song in the shoulders my next biggest challenge was the kua. I am still working on keeping it relaxed, seems I hold a lot of tension there.
  21. Could a fellow tao bum be so kind to explain the pre and post heaven concepts as simple and clearly as possible? From my understanding in baguazhang we first strive to arrive at the pre heaven qi, one method is training the post heaven to return to the pre heaven. This is a yin process. I pre heaven is what we also call original qi? What we were born with? Preheaven is pre birth and post heaven is post birth from which point we enter this yang world and our original qi is already starting to absorb the toxins and get more yang. if any of this in incorrect, i am not out to mislead, but asking if i undertsand this much of the pre and post heaven bodies. Pre heaven is not the end, but a means is a quote i read in Dr. Yang Jwing Ming and Master Liang Shou Yu;;s book Baguazhang Theory and applications. I don't understand the unification fo the pre and post heavens. I am asking for any help from a taoist with the time. Thanks in advance for anyone who helps! BEST WISHES TO ALL
