I agree completely wth Zero. As for the best quality schools around this here area, would have to be Richard Clear in Maysville(or Maryville, will check and edit) and the Yin Fu school in Knoxville. Some guy on youtube learned that my sifu was Scott and immediately told me "ONE OF JOHN NG's STUDENTS IS TEACHING BAK MEI IN CHATTANOOGA"-By this I mean that I am very lucky to have Scotty for a teacher. I am of no affiliation of these schools. My teacher is Scott Harris. his youtube channel is scottharrisbranch

Excellently expressed. an old chinese proverb that sifu liked to use was "The sapling will weather the storm, it will bend with the wind. The old hardwood tree will break instead of bending. Be like the sapling" -that is very rough paraphrase from when I was nine. understanding softness continues to be an education for me, but I do understand that we have to be soft in our bagazhang fa jin, otherwise it is far too "chunky" to express the heart.

Great graphic for the eight mother palms, Friend! I am more familiar with them as, heaven, earth, fire, thunder, water, wind, mountain, and pond/cloud. Yin Fu was a snake specialist, no? and Cheng Ting Hua was wrestler, correct? That is what I was getting at, sorry for any confusion.

OPINIONS ON THIS? In regards to how the bottom of the foot shuld lay on the ground in "proper" ZZ practice, according to how I understand "The Way of Power" Master Lam Kam Chuen (in my summary) that the more advanced one gets the more the weight should shift to the front "triangle" of the foot. Also, one is to begin with a triangle formed from the ankle to the big toe to the mid part of the heel is optimal. He also states the more one works on the "small triangle" (on the ball of the foot-the shen), it unlocks the secrets to Da Cheng Chuan. Interesting that Sifu Lao Xie Matsuo stresses staying on the ball of the foot to maximize speed and raise vibrational frequency in baguazhang.

Typically The Yin Fu style uses closed fingers(Ox Tongue Palm), from what I understand it is due to more emphasis on striking. Where the Cheng style uses the Dragon's Claw to keep the fingers open for grabbing. I My bad thought you were talking about Master Han's Lion animal posture. I had no idea about closing the tiger's mouth would result in sinking the energy to the lower torso. Interesting.

Could explain more about "back weighted circle walking", is this the same as "all the weight on the supporting leg?" (rear)? You mean lion's mouth, right? We were taught that all the weight is on the rear most leg while turning the circle. I had no idea this was an issue in Baguazhang. Now I have heard of different theories on weigh distribution in Xing Yi, some go fifty fifty, some go one hundred percent on the back leg, some go seventy thirty, according to the style.

my own truck jumped out of gear and ran me over, was pinned underneath for a half an hour. got flew to UT trauma center. that sums up the impetus of this question. this was now two weeks ago tonight. so far the only qigong I have been doing is zhan zhuang and I can over do it very easily. I have done some footwork drillls too, I was wondering if circle walking with my hands by my side like in wuji would still torque the ribcage? any ideas on other ways to loosen up this stiff body. it feels like much of what i accomplished is gone, i will have to start over, but now I know how to get back there quite traumatic it was, getting ran over by a truck. (unexpectedly) scott has given me two breathing exercises, one is a type alternate nostril breathing. (edit to change frills to drills, lmao)

Thanks so much for the kinds words. I sent out email.

Take heed of this! It makes sense to me. I truly belive qigong and baguazhang were major contributors for a positive change in my life. If you do truly feel "evil" feelings from it, perhaps your mind is not empty? I have never heard of this, but pay attention to all replies, here, you will find some gold, no doubt

TOWNES VAN ZANDT one of the best, EVER. ;....nuff said!

Find your axis circle walking brother! Think about it like this, in Dr Yang Jwing Ming and Master Liang Shou Yu's book, Baguazhang Theory and Application, it mentions that the circle turning is roughly seventy percent of the WHOLE SYSTEM! Train you circle walking for five years and only the walking (hypothetical). Now imagine someone who had never walked a circle attacks you, they will not be able to hit you. It's that simple. ...of course we want to learn so much more and can, but the walking MUST be mastered to go anywhere in this art, IMO. Thanks for the good wishes Zerostao. I was recently pinned under a truck for about a half hour after being ran over by it. I never lost consciousness, however they still ari lifted me to a trauma center. I was out in two days, I only had to get my breathing back up to par, I had to deal with the pain of it, but that is it. Most won't believe this, but the truck was even dropped on me by the rescue squad. It did break some ribs, but those were the only bone breaks I had. I have to wonder, doing the iron shirt form every day for two years had anything to do with my increased success rate? ...or is it luck? Sorry to go off topic a bit, but I am sincere in this query, however no need to respond to this, I was merely hoping to serve as motivation, not that we want get up under a Ford Ranger and see if one could bear the weight of the truck... Bagauzhang is both simple and profound.

My agenda has changed from what it was when Zerostao first recommended the joint, I must admit. I was mainly coming here just reading the personal practice forums and learn something that I could apply into my own training to better my martial play. Then it changed to wanting to understand more about bagua. ...not just the baguaZHANG as much. Now I must say I mainly read from whatever part of the board that appeals to me at the time, like the Mike Lomax thread and dern if he didn't give me a DVD! LOL, well I won it. I attempt to scan these boards and read the various advice given, then absorb what is useful, to me. In a way, I suppose a path to a more fulfilling and happy life, too. Then you got the lineup of super cool, loving, giving people (many many!), that I look forward reading what they have written. Sometimes laugh (Zerostao, JB), get inspired (R_V, Sin Fest,) or just get took to school for a lesson. (taomeow,JB, Trunk, ZT) These nyms are the ones I thought of first. ...and after I have typed this I see the names could be switched around, yet still accurate) Thanks for letting me chill here from time to time, bums! The Tao Bums RAWK!

If you will re read your post, Kentucker, then your answers are there. Key words:Drinking Binge, benzos. I don't have any experience to comment on the acupuncture. I can tell you though, the alcohol and benzos are only illusions, temporary footholds and without giving them up, completely or at least just taking them as perscribed, you are spinning your wheels, IMHO. I have been through this horrible cycle and until one embraces change and faces fears it will continute to cycle, what a vicious cycle it is! \

Anybody got a review for the eight mother palms DGS DVD or the Flying Needles Qigong?
-
Being that the silk reeling movements Zerostao was kind enough to transmit to me directly, I would imagine this DVD would be a sure fire way to get one's body connect(I feel these exercises were integral in my growth!) and the heaven and silk palm form is just beautiful and their is no other way to get the silk reeeling unless we train it. This is where I find forms like these HIGHlY important because I use this one (well, in fact all of the exercises Zerostao has directly transmitted to me) as a chi kung as well! I have been thinking what do I want from baguazhang, I know it GIVES ME WHAT I NEED, thus making for a better all around life experience. Scott kinda blew them off as warms ups, while the silk reeling IS an exellent warm up, it is FAR BEYOND a warm up as it is it's own form of energy and it helps one to get their shen together! This is without going into the awesome martial apps with vibrating palms. I love to watch and do it, sometimes I include this form mbetwix red lightning where I usually put in the single palm change. BREATHE! Here the heaven and silk form that I earnedd from ZT. From what I can gather this is the older DVD. They got the the 2012 water dragon special wich comes with the original WD DVD! Dang, I gotta big 'ol wishlist Trunk ae you notcing a pattern here? Whih DVD is this set from? I think these two clips are from the newer silk reeling DVDs.

If you could pick 3 books to take with you...

I would have to have the Baguazhang Theory and Application Book by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming and Master Liang Shou Yu, because I always find something new in there. Kenneth Cohen's Way of Qigong is great, but I pretty much got that one in the head. I suppose I would have to have Trout Fishing in America by Brautigan, though. (that book makes anywhere feel like home) ...for the third, i would choose a book identifing the edible vegetation. -
I think this is a wonderful idea!! I am interested in the tibetan burning palm DVD and the mother palm linking set While I only got to watch the whipping/vibrating palm set DVD once, Zerostao has been nice enough to drill the vibrating snake palms into my head. This set is known as rainbow body, we learn our body is not solid. We learn to make shake the spine and I can must say I feel like these palms played a big part in my liver healing. Something I would like to learn more about is how the Wu Family vibratiting snake palms is how they relate to the chakras. Zerostao had informed me that Lao Xie said to do the set in the order they are taught. gotta run for now, but got much more input...

Howdy do, my fellow bumz. I have been getting my Kundalini on via the red lightning elbows and the standing wave. "the dragon back" I have a very odd pain in my lower back, right under where my belt would go, if I wear one. It is a pretty unique pain. I read somewhere on here that pain equals energy. Is this true and if so, how I can I release. I heard my tailbone crack last time, but not this time, is the Kundalini energy trapped in my lower back, I am quite sure it is NOT a pulled muscle. Any input would be appreciated!

I have been absorbing as much as possible from Shifu Guo's youtube page for the last couple of years. I like his posts on brush knee- and beng quan lectures.http://www.youtube.c...&feature=relmfu

Does this mean we get two dvds for the price of one? The old water dragon DVD and the 2012 one? Notice Sifu Matsuo throws in the red lightning on both sides and the single palm change toward the end of the form. Is this part of the normal water dragon form? When I read the desccription it piqued my interest even more, the fa chi and fa shen mainly. ;)

I ejaculated four to five times per day two out of the last three months. I know most of you might not believe me, but I feel quite invigorated! I do love the male deer exercise! Kenneth Cohen, I thank you for the "The Way of Qigong" book, it is a true gift, each and every qigong he covers in there work! At any rate, what I am getting at is I have slowed down my ejaculations the last month just to see if I felt more invigorated, but I have yet to. Although it seems I am a bit more agitated. Any input on this would be much appreciated. I also work hard on raising the kundalini each and every day. The more I put into the 13 elbow form the more I get out of it, I do thank zerostao for teaching me this wonderful form and for Scott helping me to perfect it, because I can see how upon complete mastery of the techniques each performed as they should, one can EASILY SKILLFULLY raise KUNDALINI!
