  1. Baguazhang Theory and App by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming and Master Liang Shou Yu. It has lineage information in it. I agree with both of the books above as good ones. As far as an old book, I got Franklin Fik's translation of Sun Lutang's Bagua Quan. While it is a thin book the information is vast. Many say its not easy to understand and at first look it does appear that way, but it only takes a bit of thinking to realize what Master Lutang was getting at. Kent Howard's Wang Shujin books are translations of books originally authored by Master Wang. These are also brief reads with a lot of knowledge. As far as the DVD world goes I have found no baguazhang instructional DVDs like DGS. Period.
  2. For health benefits at least 45 minutes per day. For martial benefits at least one hour a day. I prefer to do our eight mother palm standing stake after wuji. ...if I were to have a favorite posture it would be wuji. Also I always begin and end with wuji. My first two years of baguazhang training was almost all ZZ.

  7. Philosophical Taoism

I look at taoism as the "scientific method" akin to how we learn to solve and answer queries. ...only different, lol, to answer a different kind of query. Fwiw
  8. ...

Rainbows are beautiful, an especially great day under the tao... Gods azure sky painted with splendidly beautiful designs of color.
  9. Thirty-Eight Why scurry about looking for the truth? It vibrates in every thing and every not-thing, right off the tip of your nose. Can you be still and see it in the mountain? the pine tree? yourself? Don't imagine that you'll discover it by accumulating more knowledge. Knowledge creates doubt, and doubt makes you ravenous for more knowledge. You can't get full eating this way. The wise person dines on something more subtle: He eats the understanding that the named was born from...

  13. Is it recommended to practice Qi Gong with

Not trying to be a smart alek, but as long as it takes. NEVER expekt a result in X amount of time from your training bekause we are all different and its just rude (its a joke, ). Learn to listen to your body and it will truly guide you.
  14. DGS's Dizzying DVD Collection

I have always wanted it. And yes in Kwan Yin at one point one is undulating and spiraling all at one time, hehe. look into the tuina stuff too. alot of internal applikations therein. I have never seen that eight energy set available before. I kan't rekommend Heart of Bagua enough! Yo, Zero I always say Shania! lol
  15. Qigong and qigong teachers

Love it! I like to do this with my ding shr circle walking!
  16. Water Method of Taoist Meditation - Questions

I prefer this water methods built in safety mechanisms for beginning pupils, but my heart is with the Kunlun. I also am kindly advised on occasion from Lao Xie Christopher Matsuo, who was a student of Max. I prefer the wu family Baguazhang over the Cheng style. I wouldn't call I can see a few parallels between the two, but I thought Kunlun was a thunder and lightning art. I am just a beginner so pardon me if I am off base. I started my qigong and Baguazhang journey with my local Master and sifu and among the first qigong exercises were the same as the ones I found a few years later in BKFs Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body.
  17. Water Method of Taoist Meditation - Questions

Bottom line, virtually everything I have read by BKF, from Opening the Energy Gates and Relaxing into Your Being, he is SPOT ON! His methods have results. I also have the luxury of his widely kritisized Bagua Mastery program. I think it would be worth looking into for virtually anyone. I highly rekkomend if you don't already have it, in order to help you with Relaxing Into Your Being, to buy Opening the Energy Gates of your body, this will help alot!
  18. Zhan Zhuang and circle walking flying dragon, lion, bear, dragon, monkey, this morning. Then back to Wuji. Taking advantage of 2:45 wake up.

  19. Daoist Nei Gong by Damo Mitchell

when the student is ready the teacher will appear. this has been true for me. now that my sifu is far away from here, he was super kind enough to set me up a meeting with his sifu. I know GM, but I have not gotten direct instruction from him very much at all. I am so stoked. While I am veering farther off topic, Rick is having the most success he has ever had in numbers with Zhan Zhuang.
  20. Practice challenge! :)

This is my third post, so 45 Minutes of Baguazhang.
  21. Daoist Nei Gong by Damo Mitchell

I agree with BKA about training with Damo or any qualified instructor. I have learned many things from books, but no substitute for direct transmission of wisdom.
