Good day 'bums, I very much hope that those who know that I am a Foundation student can put that aside for a moment, and read the following knowing it comes from me, Harry, "sunshine", and is not much different from what I would have said long before entering the training or knowing about it. All this talk about "secrecy" and "things leaking" has been overexxagrated to great extent... and a lot of what followed totally misses the point, from my humble point of view. It is never possible to satisfy anybody: the idea VeeCee that if you don'T want something "to leake out not to allow recording... because..." might be pointing at something obvious. But it is not. I will come to that in a second, but first want to say: Think about a student telling: "Look. These teachers did not even allow me to take notes"... What do you think would be made of it? More talk about how seceret, egoistic, guru-like this "crew" is. Again. Not everybody can be satisfied. By training I am a Doc. If I enter that profession I, without necessarily stating it by any official means, agree to a rule!: To keep the information about a patient as confidential as I am required to. We record everything in minute detail... and all that could "leake out"... and STILL: we are required to keep our mouthes shut and not talk about patients with full name in private circles... in a hospital in Germany it is clear that if somebody has HIV alll those that work there have to know. But telling the bed neighbour would be clearly breaking a rule! Is that in any way a secrecy one has to critisize??? If I enter whatever job that deals with certain type of data I am required to keep it "out of the public ear and eye"... it is a very simple day to day requirement and it has nothing much to do with belonging to a spiritual group or not. My teacher in a specific style of Korean hand acupuncture told me the last day: "Harry. Be clear about it. You are not allowed to teach what I taught you. You are missing the experience to fully comprehend what I taught you..." For very good reasons she required that I am not spreading knowledge I do not yet really understand and know to use well. Nothing good can come from that. My teacher in Primodrial Energy Activation and Transcendence: Zivorad Slavinski clearly gave permission to teach clients certain processes, while others he doesn't yet even teach to his students because he feels them not to be there yet to utilize them properly. Very good reasons he has for that. And my teacher Oleg teaches many things openly without putting too many "rules" or "restrictions" on anything... but at his Karma Yoga seminar it is clearly known that any kind of recording is a "nono" and that one is required to keep the practice to oneself and not to show or teach anybody. There are reasons for all this. It is easy to say from the point of view of an outside: "come on: it should be this way and that way" etc. Not everything taught to people is without danger and the idea that you have to have to give people every tool of whatever kind, because it is their responsibility etc. is, in my humble opinion, laying the first steps towards destruction. It makes sense not to teach everything openly. Aside from all that. And I have stated it somewhere else already. We are dealing with a different culture here. It is not even easy to understand all manners involved in the different social classes of ones own culture. How is it even feasible to have the expectation that a country with a totally different background has to apply to our own wishes and believes and convictions? I had a head doctor who was on a plane somewhere over the Emirates. One muslimic woman suddenly started having her labour pains and he immediately was there to help... he was nearly killed by the husband of that fully "covered" woman. We might think it is silly, that this guy was nuts (the husband)... but actually this head doctor simply did not know about the rules of a different culture. Had he know he would have approached the situation differently. You think he was right to do what he did? Just from his cultural upberaing and point of view! You think the other cultural approach is wrong? It is just different! Those who believe they can approach a culture very different from their own the way they are used to (and judge them with their own standard of rules) should do themselves the favor to read some good books about first encounters... Aside from all that and I have stated it in my blog. This all is not so much about secrecy. It is about an agreement that was broken. Simple as that. All the other deeper implications might be there, but it is only something to focus on and think about if one really knows what it is all about... without the background information it is all unfounded. One thing about Max and Mantra, because their openness has been hinted at... I assume it was not doe to praise them but actually to in a way show the "others" in a bad light. If I got it right even Max hasn't been in the open from the beginning on and even Mantra said that depending on what happens they might go "undercover" again. The way that was argued against Max and Mantra was, with all due respect, not always beneficial... and this alone could have been a reason to make a step back and close the door again. So far they haven't but everybody should be aware that it can anytime. The idea to judge a teacher by his students... ah well: In my humble opinion: this can only work if one talks about a longer time student... what can one expect from a first year student? it might work if a student is always watched by the teacher and if this person is belonging to a group of only a few ... it works only to certain extent if the students are spread all over the world and are many... there will always be students that behave out of order... and one last thing: judging internet personalities is pretty vague. As I first entered the Healing Tao board I thought Plato is a total freak and asshole... for several reasons I know now that this is not quite true... and pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease everybody. Do not judge a group and thereby the members of the group by the impression and ideas you have created in your mind about one or two... Harry

Yeah I know. It's what you can't get, isn't it You know: it is not so much the celibacy part posing troubles right now but finding a balance between enough sleep and time for practice... and I tell you one thing: if you hear there are practices that seem to require much less time... you can bet once ego would immediately love to go for them
-
V I sometimes love making a fool of myself for others to enjoy having fun about/with me. So no gripes And Peter: I am less serious than you think. Actually mentioning me being single to a certain extent was my inner child at play here... and kitty: interesting analysis and yes: I seem to open up more for the idea of a deeper connection! Now just missing is someone on the same page... but actually I am not in a hurry. As I first got to see if that "new development" actually stabilizes and leaves me a more mature being Harry PS: currently "fighting" with keeping up the practice

Girls and guys come on... it was about babies a female friend from school (whom I never would have thought of) in a wrestling position on top of me holding me tight between her thighs and telling me we make a good match to bring to life a baby... and nope. celibacy period is far from being over... that doesn'T mean though one can not make a deep connection Harry

Nope... have you seen Shrek III ? And it involved someone I never thought of...

To me it was shocking for others it might have been heaven on earth Harry

Hi girls and guys, I am currently struggling with understanding some terminology issues regarding classifications relating to acupuncture and the I Ching. Thes first question I stumbled upon today: In Master Alfed Huangs book: The Numerology of the I Ching it is stated that: __ __ ____ a broken line over a solid one was called Lesser Yin, while they called a solid line over a broken line _____ __ __ Lesser Yang. I could swear Dr. Tan staed it the opposite and even here http://www.uponreflection.co.uk/iching/iching_bground.htm it is stated the opposite. Here again: http://www.geo-principles.com/basic6.htm Master Huang's view is supported! Is there actually a mistake in one of these or are there opposing views out there???????? Next confusion: if one has a look on the Fu Xi Ba Gua http://www.geo-principles.com/basic6.htm (scroll down) (important to note here that in this picture the Guas are read from outside to centre... in other pictures it is the other way round. I learned that the correct way is to read them from bottom to top...) what one sees is that to the left are Dui, Li, Zhen : these share something: they have a bottom Yang line while the three Gua on the right: Xun, Kan, Gen have a Yin Yao at their bottom. Dr. Tan, an acupuncturist now made from that that the left Gua are actually a Yang family, because we refer to the root, which in their case is a Yang Yao, while those on the right with the Yin Yao as their root are to be considered belonging to a Yin family. David Ticken then has a completely different view of classification of family (he does not use the term though): He classiefies into: father--Pure Yang-Qian, Eldest Son-First Yang-Zhen, Second Son-Second-Yang-Li & Third Yang-Youngest Son Gen same for the Yin Guas and the female side. What one recognizes in this classification is that actually all Gua on the father side are YANG Gua (5 lines, odd numbers denoting Yang) while the others are all Yin Guas. Is there a clear terminology to differentiate the above given views? thankx for your insights in advance Harry

>>>You're welcome! and I apologize for a cursory/hasty response, I was just taking a break from something I normally never do (watching two movies in a row) and my mind was full of rats (Ratatoille) and spider pigs (The Simpsons Movie).<<< Simpsons was/is a good one. How about Ratatoille... was the next one on my list as soon as it hits cinema here in Germany >>>If you go to the link which is my signature, it will take you to a forum adorned with an image of the Circular I Ching in the upper left corner.<<< Do you possibly have a link to a bigger image. Far too little on my screen and when I copy and paste and make it bigger it gets too blurred... by the way: nice to now know about that forum. Skipped my mind befire... >>>Doctor Tan is right only if he's gay yet able to beget children.<<< Ups. Just to clarify. I got this from his last seminar... so maybe he just made a mistake there... will see what he is presenting on the congress in October. Sorry if I did him wrong especially because I know he very much enjoys the female.... >>>"From the Yang line we derive Greater Yang and Lesser Yang" and so on means he is bent on mixing yang with yang to produce yang, yin with yin to produce yin.<< These are my words used trying to put the ideas down on paper... might not be his. And to be honest: I don't understand. Adding a Yin line on top of the Yang line is not really like using yang to produce yang, right? And by the way: from an intellectual logical point of view: if the bottom line actually denotes the sexual status, as you mentioned previously is the case in the Early Heaven formation, then a bottom yang line to me would indicate a "male": so. why then call a male "Shao Yin" if it actually is less yang (Shao Yang) by the Yin line added to it? >>>That he has supporters simply means there's more people out there bent on "pure yang" or "pure yin" ideals. Of course no actual "children" are "produced" by such a family, whether sons or daughters, only imaginary ones. This imaginary happy gay family where two fathers give birth to a son is what Dr. Tan proposes, for reasons best known to himself. The idea of the Yang Guas presenting the "male family. with father, eldest, middle and first son" is from a different I Ching acupuncturist. This one actually uses the Shao Yin and Shao Yang according to "your standards"... meaning right then. thankx again Harry

Thankx for the quick response, Taomeow much appreciated. And thankx much for the book recommendation. Let me make the steps in order: I am sure that some people make downright false claims... but can it already start at the beginning? I mean: what is lesser Yin and lesser Yang (just the two line aspect) can not be that difficult, can it? And it for now has nothing to do with Pre- or Postheaven arrangement... if we go back here: http://www.geo-principles.com/basic6.htm There the "trouble starts": In the diagram is pictured that from the Yang line Greater Yang & LESSER Yin get derived, while from the Yin-line LESSER Yang and Greater Yin get derived from. NOW: This is the few supported by Master Al Huang supposedly a Master of the I Ching. BUT: as the other link denoted it is put the opposite and Dr. Tan, one of the leading I Ching acupuncturists, does put it the opposite way as well, namely that: while he uses the same pictures as in the link above, he simply says that the one with the Yang line on the bottom and the Yin on top is actually Lesser Yang (so: from the Yang line we derive Greater Yang & Lesser Yang and not Lesser Yin as stated before: again realizing that both authors use the same line setup but name it the opposite"). If you were so kind to solve that basic trouble for me it already would be like birthday & Christmas together! Now forward to the question of Early & Later Heaven: my topic line is "Fu Xi Ba Gua"... from the material that is in my hands I know that Fu Xi Ba Gua refers to the Early Heaven Ba Gua, while King Wen's Ba Gua to the Later Heaven arrangement. Therefore I am just referring to the Early Heaven arrangement for now >>In the Xian Tian arrangement, the lowest line always determines the gender, and the sons are, counting the lines from bottom to top, yang-yin-yin (Gen), yang-yin-yang (Li), and yang-yang-yin (Tui), while the other three trigrams with mixed lines are daughters (and of course triple yang is father and triple yin is mother).<< Cool. That solves one problem. Thankx What about the idea of classiying all the Yang Tigrams as a Yang family; where a bottom Yang with two Yin Yao on top is First Yang-Eldest Son a Yang line in the middle with the two other Yin is Second Son -Second Yang & a Yang line on top sitting on two yin lines is Third Son - Third Yang Any idea where that might be derived from? Again it is mentioned in the context of Fu Xi (Early Heaven) Ba Gua in a chapter on explaining the assignement of the 12 meridians to the 8 Ba Gua. Thankx for the bits of intro-knowledge on I Ching theory. Harry

Semen Retention -- Post Ejaculation Depression
sunshine replied to Pony's topic in General Discussion
Just a guess: it could very well be that you by whatever way have a psychological guilt-issue being bound to the act of ejaculation... if that is the case you got to find a way to solve that issue in order for the current consequences not showing up... Harry -
hi altogether, I am not so much into polls... due to some of the recent discussion I was wondering about one thing. Those who have a teacher they train with: How many hours does he advise as minimum or as necessary to advance? How many of the advised time commitment you usually manage? And if you like to share: what does your typical day look like. Maybe I can learn something for my own structuring of the day. thankx much in advance Harry

Time commitment for practice a day: how for you?
sunshine replied to sunshine's topic in General Discussion
Hi "rain", thankx for the info on tkd. I was once a little into martial arts Tai Chi... quite different. I have known people doing Tkd actually. Never got into it... >>i read up on your personal practise to better understand where you are speaking from. it is filled very specific and instructive reflections. you seem to have studied longer than me.<< well. my "studying" I would call more or less a "continous search". We start at one place and end somewhere else... or get right back to were we started from a new level of being. To your question why we are not supposed to mix: we are told that we are working with crucial elements... much like cultivating a masterpiece of a seldom rose... if you mix too many nutrients in there, water it just too much or just too little, give it too man sunrays or one sunray less than it needs... it might die and if it doesn't die it might not reach a mature enough level. Once it died there might not be given a chance to plant a new one, once we have a crippled result one might not be able to rectify it. >>it can be a constant quest this "just doing what the master says without questioning and wait for the results" wink.gif smile.gif my qigong teacher told us that we may even watch tv at the present. I have chosen not to do that. got me thinking though. got me reflecting on what and how I "take in", distribute and what I send out. this is contemplation. do we put too much emphasis on doing and reacting?<< Yes. It can be a constant quest. But you know: Those who know me know that I am probably one of the most questioning souls on Earth. It would be blind-followship not to keep that steady mind of asking and trying to understand. But I learn that there are times for asking and times for just doing. My teacher can tell me a thousand things about this and that sign... I might ask him a thousand questions about it... and still I would not get it just by asking. So I have to practice. I have to reach the state of the signs appearing and then I am in the position to ask further... based on a knowledge my teacher hardly could have given me by just answering me and satisfying my inquiring mind. >>even if i choose to fill my day with discipline I still reserve myself the right to act on impulse. that is how I "talk" with my self.<< Just as a thought: there is nothing wrong to act "on impulse"... but where does it come from? From "you" (as in you = general and not you = personal) as an organism pushed by its instincts, "you" as a "response mechanism" structured by upbringing, education or experience.... or actually coming from your "true heart", that state of just being that maybe just a few of us already have found back to. Have I? Not yet I suppose. Harry -

Aaaaiiiii. Thankx man. Could have come to that conclusion myself... would have taken me years though -
Maybe have a look into your cookie-section of your browser... I have learned a bit about cookies recently as since I downloaded the new firefox browser I always got these add popups... found out it is a mediagrap one... unfortunately this one keeps on appearing, which drives me nuts... and I do not know where it came from... long story short. check your cookie section for the taobums site Harry

Time commitment for practice a day: how for you?
sunshine replied to sunshine's topic in General Discussion
Thankx for the insights into your practices >>i have followed som of your threads about stagnated yang energy, and the discomforts due to this. interesting.<< Wow. Have I written something about that...!?! >>due to his not too stringent directions about mixing i allow myself other practise too. but the qigong is centrefocus.<< yeah. well my notion about the mixing was just because you hinted at me thinking mixing is not good and then pointing out you love mixing. was not my intent to doubt your approach but just to clarify why I mentioned we are cautioned not to mix, at least at this stage. Just curious: Is your qigong teacher your tkd teacher (tkd standing for? Sorry if I just have missed it if you already mentioned it) Harry
