  1. Making Time for Practice

I think if one has to make time for practice is lack of devotion for the art.
  2. Pain and Zen

I believe that the "pain" related to Zen is emphasized more on mental than physical.
  3. I am not getting the email for my suspension notice like I suppose to.
  4. Mastering the emotions

IMHO Mastering emotions is in both Buddhism and Taoism. One of the canons is not to be easily getting upset from a Buddhist point of view. In Taoism, it is to be in a state of stillness(靜) which is emotionless(Wu Wei).
  5. How does "energy" fit into your practice

Energy is the final product or end result of my practice. Energy does not enter my body but only more source of energy enters my body during practice. The energy was generated within the body by chemical reaction during cell respiration. Cell respiration accelerate the rate of metabolism to produce more body energy than normal. The "energy" in the OP was referred is the extra energy that was generated than normal within the body.
  6. Please help me understand this!

I see the main problem is loneliness. Especially, the greatest problem is fighting the problem. In love with someone but not able to approach her because of the age difference. It would be the worse situation. You are not able to approach her is the primary. That said, it would make the difference in age secondary. Perhaps, it should be stated the other way around. There is a philosophy in Taoism called Wu Wei, do nothing to cause any harm. To apply it personally, in other words, do nothing to cause any harm to myself. For example, if something that is impossible to be accomplished, then don't even try or think about it at all. As a result, Wu Wei will put you in a neutral state. Peace will be in your heart and your mind will come to ease. May Tao manifest upon you!
  7. Zhao Yang Hand Translation?

Within the true method from the instructions of the White Crane Founder, it contains: falling, chopping fist.......wave at the sun.......15 postures. It also describes the movements and their defensive purposes. These 15 postures were the earliest seen in the written instructions. That is what has been taught at the time. ……。 In the written instructions, 招 (昭) 陽(wave at the sun) is the fifth movement: at the beginning with any style, by solely using zhao yang, regardless what style the opponent uses.................. ……… …….. ..........in wing chun, 寸勁節力, "use little jin and conserve strength" says: Concentrate the body strength holistically, release it at once will be most effective. It is ideal to issue the force from the chest like thunder from the ground up. Reserve the strength for the waist and issue it from the arms. ……..雙手沉肩、墜肘、坐腕成昭陽手,分成三節,肩至肘為內節,肘關節為中節,腕關節為尾節,要做到內節如鐵一般堅實,與肩身成一整體;……… (1) Both hands sink to the shoulders with the elbows bent down; and the wrist at zhao yang posture divides in three segments. From shoulder to elbow is called the inner segment, elbow is called the middle segment, the wrist is called the last segment. The inner segment must be as hard and rigid as iron which integrates with the shoulder and torso as one. 圈手入側門,坐節沉肘,肩墮;成昭陽手,手入即身入;不用僵力 Curl the hand and enter from the side, bend the elbow, low the shoulder; at the zhao yang posture, entering the hand seems like entering the body; do not use brutal force. ....Bubble hands zhao yang.......與肩身 成一整體(repeat note (1));with the middle segment sunken downward, the last segment is sticky like glue, flexible and versatile. Move both hands back and forth to fajin. Exhale when the hands are moving outward; inhale when the hands are returned. Coordinate the breath with no gap in between inhale and exhale.........during practice head and shoulder, groin and knees are join as one mutually supporting one another. It just like a rubber bend, push pull, lower the shoulder and elbwo, issuing the force from the shoulder and jin reaches to the finger tips. The initial move should be in the same direction with the groin; do not move back then strike. The hand segments should be lined up with the knee to support the forces from all places in the body. I did the best I could. If you have any questions, perhaps we can work something out....!!!

  15. Wu Wei 'non doing' meditation suggested in TTC? query

I only try to do that when something comes to a dead end. I will try to keep it at a minimal in the future.
  16. Wu Wei 'non doing' meditation suggested in TTC? query

Let me refresh our memory about the definition of "Wu Wei". It is not "non doing" rather "do nothing that is harmful..." Is the definition applies to meditation...???
  17. Wu Wei 'non doing' meditation suggested in TTC? query

How about finish off what the intended notion about Chapters 10 and 16 first, before, running off with other confusions....??? Where does say meditation takes place in these two chapters.
  18. Human => Earth => Heaven => Tao Ofc Tao is Unity. The breakdown is only for easy understand. Without the breakdown, one will not know what are the subdivisions of Tao. PS.... Those who are familiar with the TTC will not forget that Tao is Unity.
  19. What would you ask a master?

The glass he was holding with his hand was warmed by his body temperature and the other one was not.
  20. Wu Wei 'non doing' meditation suggested in TTC? query

Sorry, no one can highlight some texts in TTC that directly suggest Wu Wei (non doing) as a meditative practice. There is nothing in Chapter 11 nor 16 had said such thing.
  21. Stillness Movement?

There is this concept from a Chinese master, Hu Yao Zhen 胡耀貞(1879-1973), which he called 靜動功(Stillness-movement Gong). While sitting still, externally, it seems stillness. Internally, there are movements inside the body such as the breathing and blood circulation. He suggested to call it Stillness-movement method while practicing Zazen(打坐). Edited: The name of the Chinese master, Hu Yao Zhen 胡耀貞(1879-1973), was added.
  22. Okay! I think I had gone over this once before. Here is how I integrate the "three directions": Human follows Earth by following the course of Earth. In other words, Man lives on earth by adapting its environment. Human uses the water on earth for drinking and planting the vegetables for food; using the woods to build shelters; using fire for many purposes. Earth follows Heaven by following the course of Heaven. Heaven provides sunshine, rain, wind and thunder which affects the Earth environment. Heaven gives the four seasons on Earth. Humans change their living habits accordingly to the seasons and the geological locations. Heaven follows Tao by following the course of Nature. Whatever happens was the action of Tao which affects Heaven, Earth and Human. Tao is impartial and has no mercy but follow her own nature.
  23. Yes, I wouldn't even try the semi-lotus or full lotus. I can only do the non-lotus position (simple cross-legged position). .
  24. Your Opinions

deja vu = already seen(French) Chi or Tao was not already seen for what I've known.....
  25. Was it that the last line is missing here.....??? "Tao follows Ziren."
