I wouldn't say strain more like holding physical enhancement is tiring and leads to exhausted energy in a while but three days later the enhancement lasts longer and is much stronger than before it feels like Dragonball ki activating it truly is an incredible feeling.

It seems to me that your body just recuperate after a strenuous exercise. I don't see how one can become stronger immediately after three days. Can you justify what took place in your body biologically or something else after three days?

I have COPD. I went from needing an inhaler, to being able to go on a bike ride for two miles. I'm not sure that what you mean by 'sick' in your question, and my 'sick,' are the same thing.

The word "sick" came out from you. It has to be your description. I understand that you have CODP.

I do this, but along with the motions, depending on what that is. Left to right, down to up, up to down to my feet, it depends on what it is. From hand, through chest, to hand, or from upwards, through my chest, down to the heels of my feet. It occurred to me that this might be what you meant. Because doing the motions is not just a stretch. I also do the breathing techniques as directed, in through the nose, out through the mouth, several seconds each. Inhaling, and then exhaling, on releasing tension. My mind is blank while I do this, I focus on nothing else. Is this what you mean by 'tell you how?'

Yes, this is the "tell me how". This will do for the description of Qigong. Other times, you get sick and I know the reason why. It is because of your COPD. That is why you have to breathe through your nose and exhale through the mouth. For that reason, there is not enough oxygen in your body system. Your immune system is very poor due the hypoxia(lack of oxygen). However, you are doing the Qigong practice is the right thing for COPD.

I had a breathing problem in my early age and corrected by practicing Qigong. I have a good description in my PPD. If you are interested, then, you might want to look into it.

  3. How do I am know I am healthier now than before the practice of Qigong?
Here is my story and had been told here many times.

When I was a teenager, I had a breathing problem. I cannot even complete one sentence without taken another breath. A colleague of mine were practice Taiji and asked me to go sign up for the class. So, I did and start practicing it at the age of 25. After longtime practice I realized I was much stronger than before. However, I still get a cold once a year in the winter. Especially, in the winter. I was so sick I cannot even attend my mother's Thanksgiving dinner three years in the row. That got me wonder why Taiji just build up my body strength but did not help me to prevent the cold in the winter.

I went to research to find out what is affecting my body from the practice of Taiji. At first, I was told to breathe normally as I practice and the breathing will kick in after a longtime practice. Hopefully, the breath will reach down deep to the abdomen. The key to reach the realm of Taiji is to coordinate the movements with breathing and vise versa. Then, hereinafter, I paid close attention to my breathing. To speed up the effect of coordination of movements and breathing, I had mastered my breathing by practice Qiong breathing on the side.
For that said, I am able to sink my chi to the lower dantian. I hope everybody knows what is that mean!

With that in mind, I practice Taiji with the coordination of movements and breathing. I had accomplished the realm of Taiji. Since then, I did not get a cold for five years in the row. I was able to attend my mother's Thanksgiving dinner every year. Thanks to my understanding what Qigong is all about. Now my normal breathing is abdominal breathing. I know I will have ample of oxygen going through my body. Each breath I take gives me a comfortable feeling. My body is very energetic. It gives lots of the power and body strength to work in my gardens without getting fatigue or losing my breath.

That is how I realized the importance of abdominal breathing in Qigong(氣功). Otherwise, they wouldn't have it call Qigong for nothing. BTW Since breathing was involved with Taiji, then Taiji is considered to be a form of Qigong.

there is much more to being healthy then breathing.

Your presumptions on how people understand chigung don't fit me either btw

FYI It doesn't matter how healthy one is. It takes only 6 minutes for one to have brain dead. If one does normal abdominal breathing, then, one has accomplished the realm of Chi Kung without realizing it. Peace!

From what I have been reading from many posts, it seems people have no idea what Qigong is all about. The practitioners should know what and why they are practicing Qigong and what to expect from result. Qigong is learn how to breathe properly return back to the first day of the infant stage.

As I said this in the beginning, it is alot complicated to grasp what Qigong is all about. It is not just waving hands or just breathing. One has to understand the physical aspect of the human body to understand Qigong. The Qigong masters can only tell you the traditional saying about it. It is because it was how the words were passed down from generation to generation with the same old story. The story was that you breathe in the energy from the sky and release or lose it though the ground. This is how simple that people understand Qigong. It seems there is a long way to go in understanding what Qigong is all about. It is sorry to say that people only pay money to learn the same old stories and passed down the line.

I mean I always have a good abdominal breathing, first time i visited  the physical therapist he remarked on my excellent posture and still I am chronically ill.

I have no interest in discussing my illness, its not what I am here for.

but your theory is much too simple

No problem. Sorry, you did not tell me the whole story. Therefore, I need to ask questions little by little. Before I jump I jump to conclusion, may I ask how did you do your abdominal breathing? Is it slow, long and deep to the abdomen?

The theory may sound much too simple. However, it requires much time and effort to get there. It doesn't happen in just one breath. Peace!

    sorry to disappoint,

i've had a good abdominal breathing and a good posture for decades

    still chronically ill

it's not as simple as you seem to think

What do you mean by you had "a" good abdominal breathing. Does "a" mean just once or you do it constantly as your normal breathing habit? Please clarafy!

What went wrong? May I hear what kind of cheonically illness do you have?

  8. From what I have been reading from many posts, it seems people have no idea what Qigong is all about. The practitioners should know what and why they are practicing Qigong and what to expect from result. Qigong is learn how to breathe properly return back to the first day of the infant stage.

The reason to breathe is to capture the oxygen in the air into the lung. It was not just to the capture the oxygen but to capture the most of it. The amount of oxygen intake is determined by how much one can breathe in one inhalation. Thus practicing Qigong is learn how to breathe in most of the oxygen from the air.

For simplicity, we can determine the health of the body by knowing how deep can one breathe. Here are three conditions that determine the health of the body:
    1. Breathed deep down to the throat: the person has a very poor health condition.
    2. Breathed deep down to the chest: the person has a good heath condition but still might be sick or catch a cold once awhile.
    3. Breathed deep to the abdomen: the person is very healthy and hardly get sick.

Under condition 3: The diaphragm goes downward that will increase the volume of the lungs to hold air in its full capacity. Thus it allows the lung to hold oxygen to maximum. It give ample of oxygen for the body to function. Hence, the organs are not striving for oxygen and able to perform their functions to their full capability. That is why the body is in excellent condition. The immune system is very strong and will fight off any pathogen.

In condition 2:  The lung is holding enough oxygen for the body to function properly to maintain a good health. However, sometimes, the immune system might has a little resistance to minor colds or illnesses. Fortunately, the body may return back to normalcy in a short time.

In condition 1: The lung is only holding a small of air. The body will have a poor blood circulation due to a weak heart. It will cause the organs to be weaken due to the  deprivation of oxygen to perform their functions. That is why these people who get sick with chronic diseased because of hypoxia.

For those people who are in conditions 1 and 2, it is advisable and encouraged to practice and learning the Qigong breathing method to maintain the body in condition 3.

I am always wondering why people say that they practice Qigong and still get sick often. Qigong is suppose to make the body healthy.
It seems to me that people do not know what Qigong is all about, but just practice something assuming it was Qigong and get no benefits out of it.

If you don't mind, would you please tell me how did you practice your Qigong. You don't need to tell what style that you were practiced. Just tell me how!

  10. The idea of losing yang chi is all in the mind. The reason for one to practice martial arts is to have the body to generate more yang chi than it can lose. If the yang chi can be that easy to be lost, then, one can touch anything and lose it. It is bunch of non sense.
