  1. Continuity

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and engaging me!
  2. Continuity

Well, we have a person engaging a metaphysical question that physics attempts to answer. The only answer is one outside of words. And I cannot give that to you over a chat window. The one within words can be alluded to through poetics, but it cannot be stated. The one within words through science can be stated, but once stated can only be debated. That is the nature of mind. Hence, the most precisely I can answer these questions with words is to use imprecise terms like the words "appearance" and "perception". Notice the abundance of these marks ' ' . Notice that my use of it is even around the word 'now'. ;-) Theories are conceptions, and as you note, conceptions are limited. Thus, proof through theory is limited. Steve has shared an experience that is an aspect of something beyond 'proof' and I am very happy for it! Thanks for trying to inform me.
  3. Continuity

Hi there, Thanks for sharing these links with me. Actually, my point is in harmony with what you share. The concept of eternal means there is no time. It is 'forever' and is 'always'. And yet clearly, in the limits of a typical perception of a 'time' there is an actual form linearity we cannot deny. Do not confuse levels of time perception in various states of space and dimension for the totality of the existence of time- which is the NON-existence of time. This is the difference between "the ten thousand things" and that which is cannot be named. Time exists. Time doesn't exist. Time is a measurable moment. Time is nothing and therefore, without measure. Duality resolves into unity. Mila

Steve, Time exists and is experienced in various ways dependent upon different spaces and dimensions. In metaphysics we'd call this 'realms'. On this plane, or on earth, time appears to move linearly: The past comes to meet us on one end of the string, and the future comes to meet us from the other end of the string. These two passages of time form and inform in unity the moment you call 'now'. But in the greater span of the universe, 'now' is a moment connected to infinite other strings. Thus one moment of 'now' is an eternal space in which the singularity* of a moment is renewed. Hence, the stillness of a moment is as eternal as it's ever changing renewal, which vibrates in the continuities of 'now'. This is one of the secrets to unlocking the poetry of the Tao and its 'seeming' conundrums. Mila *singularity as defined by astrophysics
  5. How to determine someone's level of enlightenment?

In reply to various issues raised in the original post. About "Levels of enlightenment": Rather than seeing the development of 'enlightenment' linearly in terms of levels, consider it as qualities of state coming into greater wholeness or fruition. One way to imagine this is as a fruit or ball with holes in it being filled in at various dimensions and areas. Wisdom is this fruit and it develops in many ways. As for the state of 'enlightenment' it is more than just the fruit itself. The idea of Secrets: What is a "secret"? Do you mean, what a person tries to hide? Or do you mean the mystery that you do not yet fully realize… (no, this is not meant to simply be a rhetorically clever question) On being able to determine another's state of enlightenment: Your idea of 'determining one's enlightenment' seems to be based on intellectual discernment. But the allusion of enlightenment has boundaries beyond the realm of the mind, and therefore, is not entirely discernible to through intellectual cognition. Perhaps you can consider employing other senses as a way to intuit greater dimensions in the state of being. You will also be able to more easily 'know' when you stop striving to concern yourself with what is enlightenment and whether or not anyone you meet has it or not. :-) About Judgement, Pretension and Delusion: Decisions based in clear (vs. delusion) discernment need not be done with attachment (pretension) and can be achieved outside of (relative) levels of subjectivity. How can one 'see' without subjectivity? Stop believing that in the limited conceptions of yourself as the only way in which you can know the world. There is more to what comprises you than this mere body/mind and even spirit. And therefore, there are greater aspects of self that you can employ in sensing what is truth. Best wishes on your path to deeper ways of knowing
  6. Meditation Problem

Hello there, The movement into silence stirs the chi. So as previous posters noted, many dynamics may arise. It need not be a meditation 'problem' but instead an opportunity. The backlash or reversal of energy following the positive intention has some interesting potential and implication. First I would encourage reversing the meditation. Meaning, he could consider meditating on anger and see if it doesn't bring about peace. This is the principle of yin and yang. By deepening his understanding of the primordial force of anger, he may in turn elicit greater peace in his outward circumstances. I would suggest trying this 1-3 times, in a very contained and regulated/self-aware manner and observing what results it produces. Obviously, if it worsens the condition, I wouldn't advise continuing. But if it starts to alleviate interpersonal symptoms following his meditation, then it may signal that there is a merging in his polarities of anger and peace- unify them into greater equinimity and understanding. My second thought is about the cultivation of 'yi' which is the spirit of the spleen. There appears to be some kind of perversity or friction of his 'mental' intention versus his energetic flow. It may not be his doing or choice, it may be other energies or influences causing this, but in any case, strengthening the yi would assist. One very simple way, is to change the placement of subtle energetic focus in every day life- not with the eyes and mind, so much as the sensory awareness via the water element in the body. This concept makes more sense if you have a background in 5 Phase theory or through guidance with a practitioner. Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, these symptoms or outcomes indicate that before such subtle cultivations like meditation or yi spiritual developments are undertaken, a good look at more physical and lifestyle shifts would be of benefit in preparing his system for the abstract- simple things like exercises or movement to shift energies, dietary habits to purify the system (in his case, something like reduction of hot meats, eliminating caffeine or alcohol are some examples), and more psychological balancing would be useful. This is a quick and very generalized overview by short email that does not express the totality and depth of what is needed and could be done with appropriate understanding and guidance. But I hope it helps to hint toward a momentum that is beneficial to your friend. Best regards to you and your friend, Mila
