  1. Intro

Nice to meet you Smallframetaijiquan. You seem to be a person that hangs around the Taijiquan crowd a lot... I find this extremely interesting. by any chance do you have you spent time learning or practicing around Taoist Monks, Priests or any other practices of taoist things other than Taijiquan based taoism? Intriguing perspective you have on things so far. I look forward to reading your future posts. I do enjoy a good read especially when filled with knowledge you know the juicy stuff. By any chance are you a teacher of Taijiquan or any other internal martial art?
  2. Wudang Taoism

I've heard many different referances to Quanzhen school... many misunderstandings... many people claiming this and that. Through everything I've heard this is what it seems to be presented to me... a simple subject that words are tossed around and many misinterpretations happened. This is just my understanding... If I understand it correctly, I was told... Longmen Pai is a closed door sect. This closed door sect is called "Longmen Pai of Complete Perfection". The open door subsect of Longmen Pai is called The Dragon Gate Sect of Complete Reality. Dragon Gate Sect of Complete Reality is the most well known sect. There are even sub-sects that come from The Dragon Gate. Dragon Gate sect is classified within the Quanzhen category.
  3. Lots of questions!

Well said Taoist81. I do agree. Although it should be understood and clearly recognized that you should respect where you come from. Do not forget where you come from and do not think ill of where you come from. No matter how different or cruel it may be.
  4. What Daoism do you practice?

Thank you Darin Hamel for taking the time to post to me. Sure I've been on this board for a while. I also did research before I posted this poll. I also thought that this poll may be interesting for others to read on the forum... informative, as i'm also seeking some deeper knowledge about these generalizations of different schools. Many respectful thanks to you, Stigweard you have been an inspiration for me to be helpful to others without going to such extremes by watching you continuously without stop help out others. "Monkey see, monkey do". lol Contrary to the way I make my self sound, I'm not claiming I'm that dumb though. Some of the proporties of monkey styled Kung Fu says how silly they can be as well as how cleaver. Thank you Lin for taking the time to post here, I should have expected you would post on a subject like this, as you've personally told me (Hope you don't mind me saying) you've practiced from both Quanzhen as well as Zhengyi schools. So, *bow* much respect to you Lin. I would like to say that because I posted this subject that doesn't mean its my selfish attempt to learn information for myself. But rather to have a discussion about it where hopefully many may benefit from it, and not just me.
  5. Lots of questions!

Dear Juan, I hope that these questions help in some way. I'm not sure really, whats your perspective of Shamanic Cultures? Although I'm not fond of the use of terms worship nature. But Nature is something that is not to be disturbed. In Taoist practices its through the understanding of nature "as we grow, or cultivate" that we start to understand how nature works. What is natural is all part of nature and so is Taoism. It is the natural way. Although this explanation is not satisfactory I'm sure it is something that you have to experience on your own. Many things about Taoism reflects and explains many things in many if not all things you encounter in life. Although experience will best explain a lot of its teachings, without the experience without its practice it isn't Taoism. standing meditations, Zhan Zhuang like meditations... other forms of stillness meditation. Taijiquan "Tai Chi" may be one of the best places to start for learning about experiencing of Taoist practices. Peace, Virtue, WTiger
  6. I would like to open a discussion about the differences and similarities within the two main types of (1)Daoism. Generally speaking their are two main classifications of the (1)Daoism. The Quanzhen Taoist sections and the Zhengyi Daoist Sections. On another post YMWong addressed some things about two classifications of (1)Daoism which follow up the following... Dear YMWong, I kindly and respectfully recognize the two main schools are classified as Quanzhen and Zhengyi schools of Taoism/Daoist I was hoping you may be willing to delve a little bit into the biggest differences between these classifications of Taoist/Daoist Schools. Peacefully and Sincerely, WTiger
  7. Differnces between Quanzhen and Zhengyi?

Much much thanks for the helpful reply, YMWong. *bow* Peace, Virtue, Wisdom *bow* WTiger
  8. Differnces between Quanzhen and Zhengyi?

P.S. (1)Daoism: I call it Daoism because anywhere from 20 to 30 years ago their was no specific difference in western world of classification between the spelling of Taoism and Daoism. Now often times (but not every time) the word "Taoism" refers to Quanzhen, or Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) Taoism. While Daoism refered to more esoteric or more religious types of Daoism.
  9. Who is trained in Micro Cosmic Orbit?

I will personally not speak about other teachers and there teachings if I have not personally been taught extensively under them. (Which probably means I shouldn't talk about any teacher, and how effective there methods are) Well if your interested in understanding what Mantak Chia teaches go learn from him. Only experience will tell you. I would suggest to also look into other explainations and talks about such things. I think its a pretty comprehensive indepth subject that requires a very deep look. But if sincerely interested I really would recommend taking the time to study it. (no matter how deep you actually study the subject) Many more people than just him teach it. Its really not too hard to find other stuff meterial on such stuff. Although I will admit for most people (includes me) they don't really know where to start. I wouldn't nessesarily suggest taking the easiest route and looking for guidance.
  10. 3 souls 7 spirits

As I understand it, (although I'm no teacher, nor a master but what I've read is as follows) your true self is shown through the Middle Dan. When one knows your "true self", in its nature we should also have the ability to empathize with all other humans. The western word "soul" more closely represents just the Human Soul. While often we think of it having little connection with, completely with, the physical self. Which is represented as the Earth Soul.
  11. please help me very quickly

did you post anything in the healing circle if not for a quick little help before you see an actual Acupuncturist/healer and/or medical MD.
  12. Depleted female sex drive

There are a whole bunch of different medication on the market that actually are supposed to make woman's periods last shorter, or have fewer of them (not every month). A there are many of them that CAN cause females sex drive to go down drastically. There are also other medications that do that too. I'd recommend to see a qualified doctor about it first. (It really happens to a lot of women. Its really sad when medication can change our bodies so much. Especially for how it can change sex drives in men and women. To me that just doesn't sound right. Kind of defeats the purpose of those medications. Problem is it hasn't turned into an exact science but still the medical treats patients with medication and ends up making errors. Maybe to some degree it should be done in a way that is more comforting. Or maybe not.) (I'm not claiming its a tragedy. I'm simply claiming that because of the use of medication that's supposed to help the person ends up dictate what they feel like instead of what the person decides what they want.)
  13. A Taoist Routine... HELP!

Great post. Welcome to the TaoBums Archaic17 I would definately add some causal Taiji to the mix (and later turn it into causal daily taiji) or qigong. I also like Eric23 suggestion of reading the classics. You never really understand how many times you end up going back to the classics after you've already read them. You can always start out slow if it helps you pick up speed later.
  14. If you were to give any other label of his proffession under a monk the next best I could think of is a Doctor. So its definately not a bad thing that your not learning from a monk. Anyway, more importantly did Lao Tzu have offspring?
  15. What happened to my mind?!?!

Well, in complete yin practices (I mean that in the way of movement within stillness) where your only doing sitting meditation or laying down, even a chair. You could easily be missing out on energetic type mind/will practices. Which may or may not (just trying to be helpful with the knowledge i know) help the situation. Doing some movement exercises, some which would commonly be classified as energetic exercises could help. (Please note i said could help... granted that the energetic exercise is intended to compliment your meditation). Some common names of Taoist types of energetic exercises would be, Dao-Yin exercises, Tao Yoga Or other things like Dayan Qigoing. Sloppy Zhang, seemed to be saying similar things just differently. (Trying to put effort to applying changes during you doing your class work a direct solution to the problem, while mine is a indirect one)
  16. How do you prepare your tea?

Eh, well I got the the feeling mine is artificial flavor stuff because my Tin doesn't have any flowers... just has those balled up Oolong leaves. It still taste great. Thanks for the book reference. Oh how I'm really starting to appreciate these book references. Also thanks for the little information was very interesting and nice to hear.
  17. Why Are Western Daoists so Gullible?

Huh can you specify a little better so I understand what you mean? Although what you say is clearly stated, I don't think I have enough information to know how exactly to take this response.
  18. How do you prepare your tea?

My Favorite Tea! I wonder why I've read numerous places says that Oolong tea is the fav for martial artists? Editing for clearity
  19. Immortal Chung on cultivation problems

Thank you for taking time to write this more detailed account of what "My Country And My People" is all about. I don't understand the need to defend the book through... You referenced it and therefore no one should have any opinions on the actual book and what its saying until they've read it. That's why I thankful when you made the reference to the book. Exorcist_1699, makes a astute observation. Without any strings attached, in hopes you will gain benefit, but why not yourself reach to practices that go well beyond Earthly ones? (please note here I am not talking about skipping steps.) edited apparently I had the wrong part quoted.
  20. Why Are Western Daoists so Gullible?

You attack people, Just not directly by saying there name outrightly. If i were to personally point out example, I would make you look bad in public and thats not my aim. Where as you consistently make me look bad in public... because that is your aim. But your definately right, its my failure, in a weak but still an attempt to bring up things that bother me about you. In turn, "in these weak and sad attempts" I find myself ending up personally attacking you. Which attacking you personally is not what i mean to do. But I do it anyway, and have in the past, for that I'm gravely sorry. I'm sure no matter how sorry I am, i feel that words can not make up for any problems I've caused. Which brings me to my next point I'm working seriously and greatly very hard to fix these things from happening again.
  21. Immortal Chung on cultivation problems

I don't think there is any justifiable reason (that's 100% right) to give any opinion on any of those three schools of thought, Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. They may hold value all in there own right... some maybe similar to others and so forth. Some may have mixed ideas. But in the end talking about non specifics about Taoists putting so much hate towards some Confucians is just you spreading ignorance, which I'm not much a fan of. The teachings of the practice of Daoism\Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism has survived for at around 1,500 hundred years. Maybe not as long as the proclaimed Taoism that is 3,000+ years old. But I'm sure it works decently for a system, if it has survived for around 1,500 years. Although the preachings, claims and practices of Confucianism has changed throughout history. As well as different Sects/types of Taoism, and the MANY different types of Buddhism. What your talking about is no light subject. Especially to claim Taoists looking down on Confucians. It would be more helpful for me if you could give more specifics about these specific Taoists looking down on Confucians. I personally thank you MT for referencing a book which I could possibly gain a persons interpretation in hopes I could benefit from reading. I don't think referancing books to make one type of practice lesser then another is very helpful or insightful to why they for that instance were treating another system so. Taoism, is at the core of things my real home for me. Edited, because the first one was more of an attack on a person rather then constructive criticism and/or the reasons and beliefs why i think what is claimed is wrong.
  22. Why Are Western Daoists so Gullible?

Interesting Issue is personally when I see your act TM, you attempt to put them to the test by attacking the people and cross-examine the evidence by attacking them. Hey by any chance do you know the understanding practice or believe anything about the concept of Ming?
  23. Leaving, Soon As I Came

Oh nicely stated... (Looks like I'm put in my place) Sorry for my negative display of posts. I guess I'm bitterly feeling about my place in my personal practice. Try not to display that on these boards.
  24. Leaving, Soon As I Came

I'm nobody qualified but my take is spending time on these boards is kind of a waste of time. (Except for the occasional drop in to hear some news about great workshops by widely known teachers for such an expensive amount or a decent conversation with someone that's actually giving you good advice) I think all posters can be classified in one of just about 2 categories. 1, Losing the ability meditation for long periods of time without using energy. 2, Wasting my time online boards not trainning in whatever given art. I did like what you had to say in your short time you were here (in the 3 posts i observed) I try not to spend to much time on these boards.
