Hello Zhou Xuan Yun, I enjoyed and read your article it was very nice one. (Not to TOO long too) for some basic understandings of different types of breathing. I noticed on your website it said your a Zhengyi Taoist. I was wondering some of the differences can you can find within Zhangyi Taoists and QuanZhen Taoists. Peace, Sincerely, WhiteTiger

The San jiao, Triple Energizer (also known as Triple Heater, Triple warmer) Sounds like a GREAT topic to discuss... I was almost ready to completely and totally buy the book until I noticed it seemed to have little to do with those things in specific... This is a good reminder to research all about the San Jiao and Triple Heater meridian.

This reminds me when I was learning my sword form in Kung Fu... damn i love that long sword. Gracefully and effortlessly dangerous! I wanna learn a taiji sword form now.

OMG! Go study some psychology than come back with that attitude. I am getting very frustrated at how insightful your being... little wisdom your giving AND how little knowledge you actually have on the subject.

Thank you very much for making this a little more clear. Especially to me. Clearly states and means I have absolutely no clue weather its true or false. Never met the man to be honest. Peace, WTiger

Very nicely said! It is important to drop the labels and the meanings (in your mind) attached to them. (Although I wouldn't change your principles just because different sensations happen) Talking about labels (if we aren't dropping them) Lesbain's = more acceptable socially Homosexuals = Less Socially acceptable Although a lot has changed since since I was a toddler. A very nice close girl whom was bisexual whom was interested in me when I was 18 explained to me, females just happen to satisfy me better than males do. I still don't get how this is related to homosexuals. If a man feels they can be satisfied better from another male than for all darn sakes go do it. (I am implying I personally don't see how this is possible although I'm not claiming this couldn't be true for others) If you don't like the tenancies and/or can't deal with them properly THIS SPECIFIC RETENTION PRACTICE IS JUST NOT FOR YOU than I suggest you stop this one all together. wow, your so good at the right speech. Directly went to the problem.

Thanks for the reference. I look forward to reading it. About inspirational tales, I always took reading the stories of Kwan Sai-Hung's fictional tales strictly inspirational. Although throughout the book they do a good job at hinting and/or making references at different parts of actual practices. I have also read on a website that he is half German decent. Here is the referance... Link to Referance about Kwan being half German However I want to be extremely clear on this I'm not claiming its false or true! Peace, WTiger

Most likely a latter edition... Although You gunna practically get me to read 3 or 4 chapters of it again to find out where it says that.

I'm a little perplexed. although I don't actually believe the story. That doesn't mean what the story has in it doesn't describe many things to think about many different stages of practices. Anyway, despite how relevant it is to history or not its clearly stated in the book its a fictional book. Although I checked and read page 59... in fact I practically reread the whole chapter, I didn't read anything of the above quote.

Yep same one Yeah he is getting up there. I love to learn from older people, they are very experienced and if considered masters they must have lots of wisdom.

ok , than it doesn't matter what language we use (what words we use) as long as we understand eachother and getting our ideas across properly (didn't mean to go into deep discussion about specific words... although of course i kind of did. Sorry) I prefer soft much better, although soft or hard it doesn't matter the method as long as it works and it gets results.

I'm sorry I didn't post the answer to this question as you seemed that you wanted an answer to this question when you first addressed it. I really meant to immediately answer you but for many reasons it kind of slipped my mind... Inability to address this issue even though I wanted to. If I were you, I think the choice is ultimately up to you. You choose which you want. Go around asking for what you want to as many people as you can find and so forth... express these problems with people close to you that know about them (that you feel comfortable expressing you need help, maybe they know people, hopefully they may know someone) If this was ME, I wouldn't take no or alternative methods for an answer. (but I'm not saying the way I would go about it is the smartest way to do it... maybe someone else should try and address this issue... hopefully someone will) I really hope that whatever you find or get will ease your problem and your mental suffering of the issue stops. (As well ask fixing the physical problem in hopefully the near future.) Peace, Sincerely, WT

I would like to happily disagree with you here. Pain isn't a natural phenomenon. When something isn't natural you may feel pain. Than again this disbelieve in pain not being natural is probably a totally different discussion. Because I define the word pain as something from great suffering. Muscle tension and putting lots of effort really fast to make it relax (immediately relax) may hurt but that's just because you mind has not adjusted to the feeling. Over time doing this continuously every time you feel pain (or at least daily, and wouldn't hurt to do this type of deeper message on the area at the same time of day) Your mind is going against what can be over time very helpful to you. It turns into a mind over matter sort of game. (of course the more time you put into doing this daily... or even better yet put as much time as you need to put into doing this deep tissue message your teacher showed you, every time it hurts and until the hurtting is totally away. If you do this religiously I can guarantee after 2 weeks periods you will have some obvious changes for the good. Two key point, 1, when it starts to hurt you do this deep message EVERYSINGLE time until the pain gone. 2, you need to spend time on feeling and being sensitive to the difference between tension in the area and hurting. They are different but never the less could easily be interconnected. (If the body gets used to a tension feeling on your body you could be really hurting BUT the the mind will not think of it as hurting) This is just the body mind just flexing different directions. The importance of Taiji like practices focus a lot of feeling while a lot of external like practice focus on using lots of tension to strengthen and build up the body ability to deal with its applied force... you may also get lots of positive side effects... Just think of weight lifters (a lot of them have over period of time more confidence and many other benefits too) Oh just to add a lot of weight lifters don't work on there mind... making them insacure and have other sorts of issues. This is where martial arts comes into positive play here. To strengthen of the mind.(focus for longer periods of time) The ability to flex the mind.(able to understand that things can be much bigger then they seem) Alright that's enough of me explaining of external.

What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?
WhiteTiger replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
Hilarious poster... I am saying this because I know in the many other posts you never at all seem the way you do in this topic. You've always seemed to be a completely compassionate person. That sometimes Cat gave some nice wisdom also. (we have a possitive history basically) Btw 11:33, she has never really seemed to act like this towards me before... The above quote though... I don't know how to take... sarcasm? Serious? What are you referencing it towards? I guess I shouldn't asked... My best guess was your being extremely compassionate... (Somethings I definately could use and have) Thank you for the laugh. -
What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?

I'm interested... this is your second post showing yourself with such brute harshness? It just so happens sometimes students are spoon fed high quality knowledge/wisdom and sometimes poor quality knowledge/wisdom as well as some students are spoon fed actual ability. Its when people are spoon fed actual ability they really don't know how to earn it through using proper methods... and possibly hard work. I say this because I understand and have seen both parts of the spectrum. (sadly rarely a teacher did give me both high quality knowledge/wisdom and wanted me to work hard.) -
What's the point of Union with Tao? Enlightenment? Satori?
WhiteTiger replied to DaoChild's topic in General Discussion
I have a few issues that which I would be willing to name in a private domain... Which are not asking to be enlightened... nor even asking for the road to enlightenment... much smaller issues, that prevent me from persevering through practices I happen to, excel at, and/or persevere at until I get it or progress at it. Anyway... most of it I'm sure is only based on my ignorance. -
I also would like to add that I think Qigong the term often gets thrown around in place of its proper meaning word like Waigong or Neigong. Good point... I should allow the teachers to teach me.
-
Sadly it seems the best explaination or help with answering my question only mjjbecker has answered... Although he purposely didn't answer the way I was interested in getting the answer... which he often does... and often gets under my skin. No one else has helped me to understand not one bit about Hard Neigong... Everyone else is talking about Ying Qigong... (hard Qigong) or soft qigong... I'm a great fan of soft styles... its what I naturally prefer... I like soft Waigong... I like soft qigong... I very much VERY VERY MUCH enjoy soft neigong practice. I love to live the lift of a peacful practitioner from getting the benefits of soft style martial arts! But Hard Nei gong was something he was hinting at me... that I could greatly benefit from. Sadly at the time I had no clue... I noticed that searching for the word Hard Nei gong I posted this question that was never answered (as I couldn't get a very good explanation of Hard Nei gong through the internet after 10 or 15ish minutes through googling.)

What do energetic practices have to do with enlightenment?
WhiteTiger replied to 11:33's topic in General Discussion
Amen! Well it's my mere understanding that before Taoists first step is to end this cycle. When i say first step it is a extreme generalization. Its been pointed out by some people whom seem to be well respected on these forums, That the Quanzhen school is a mixture of Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism. Furthermore, Things that I understand as Buddhist practices seem to be extremely well described in Chronicles of Tao quite vividly too. I think reading Chronicles of Tao and basing it on your own personal understanding is definately opening yourself up to be schooled in stuff you really may know little about. -

Simple, you need to be healthy and/or cultivated enough to sit long enough time until you can finally become enlightened. -

Lin, I couldn't agree with you anymore. within the last two years (Basically, me being apart of this board) I've gone to my parents, family, in search to help myself out. I've gone from Kung Fu school to Kung Fu school in search to help myself out. I've failed and retired once, twice even a few times in many situations. I've even gone to a monk which I hold a great affinity with... all unwilling to help me out, but surely presented himself as if he was willing to help me out. Although most of them in the end really didn't find or make time to really attempt to help me out OR figure out and understand the whole situation. In the end it seemed as if they were all they were interested in helping themselves out greatly with using me in the mean time. There interest wasn't at all in helping me out. -
In a sad attempt to help you out. I hope you don't mind me pointing out but there is more than just one internal martial art. Please let me name a whole bunch of widely spread internal like nature martial arts. (I'll also give other spellings of some of the names so you could possibly look them up under other searches in the internet) Taijiquan (also Tai Chi Chuan) Xing Yi (Xing can be spelled Hsing and Yi can be spelled capitol I interchangably) Bai Gua Zhang (Pa = Ba = Bai and Gua = Kua and Chang = Zhang and sometimes seens as Quan) Yi Quan also I Chuan (You could say this is extremely Internal... or at least often taught that way) LuHeBaFa or LiuHe BaFa also called Water Boxing (don't know the many different ways to spell it) Bajiquan (or Baijiquan or Ba Chi Chuan) There are many more internal martial arts but that's basically naming some of the more popularized ones that can be found in America. Side note: Arguably there should be Yi Chuan found in the internal martial arts. I hope that you would be opened to try and search for any internal martial art around your area, if you can not move away from where you live.

All you mentioned was completely and utterly understandable ALTHOUGH, the last part is the extremely seems to hold lots of value in the advice department. -

Stale water signifies degeneration. -
Absolutely because I talked to him about hard qigong and soft qigong before hand. Then I went into a discussion about how Nei gong was a higher level practice... and something I was greatly interested in... Than he started talking about hard Nei Gong.
