Stillness-Movement goes Billnas, Finland! On Sept. 1.-3.
Sonhoffman replied to Sonhoffman's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully we will have a nice crisp autumn weather. You can start practicing right away: "Olet kaunis" "Olet ihana" (You are beautiful. You are wonderful) -
My guess would be he has been doing a rather unbalanced or forced practice, or mixing too many different schools. What I mean is, if you need to consider so many things, especially when beginning, then it doesn't sound right. I agree about the seemingly high vibration of Chunyi Lin though. I also like his Spring Forest Qigong because it is very simple in approach.

Beginner cultivation tip: Choose a teacher whose teaching and lineage resonates with you. Then do as he tells you.

The cranes came back this morning, the mother makes a majestic sound When I went out to look at them I saw what I first thought was one of the baby cranes moving into the nearby forest but then realised it was bigger and colored more like a baby deer! Could this be the one that we saw earlier.. I sure hope so

My pleasure, I will do my best to make things run smoothly here and also to get some publicity for the event. -
Oh, sweet, looks like the birdie has babies too!

Oh great, now there's a crane on my yard.. What next? There are bears and lynxes in the forest I'm not too keen on meeting

Just a few days ago a baby deer (model "Bambi") had fallen down and was found lying against the foundation of my house. It was breathing but didn't react to anything. You can imagine the stir it caused with my three kids.. I did maybe half hour Qi projecting to it but didn't notice any improvement. My guess was it had lost its mother and was badly starving and/or dehydrated. I tried to get it to drink some water. Then a grown up deer showed up on a nearby field, observing us. My daughters wanted to take the baby to (what we thought might have been) its mother. What I only heard later was that the baby had actually started kicking and trying to walk on its own when they took her closer to where the adult deer was, before that she had been completely limp. Don't know the end of the story, at that point we had to be moving along. Hopefully the kid made it

The ego is a tricky thing so I try not to think about it too much. I MAY have developed as a person during my few years of practice but there's no way to prove it (can't live same life again without it). Everything does seem to flow with less effort these days but it could also be something that comes with age. I did release lots of anger when I started more serious cultivation but I did my best not to project it on people. The amazing thing about (some forms of) Qigong is that you can actually learn to help and even heal people through external Qi projection. I have lots of personal experience of this. Now whatever your motive may be to relieve suffering of yourself and other sentient beings, if it works then I'm for it.

No darkness in Qigong itself. It can bring some of your own darkness into light though. Now I could be wrong and you could be practicing some forceful whacked-out satanic system.. Probably not. You never mentioned a teacher? It's possible you are doing something wrong but also possible that your practice is opening your knots up too quickly for your comfort. Either way, and this applies to anyone with problems they connect with Qigong.. Best you find a teacher.

I would check out Alex Wong, he lives and treats in Surrey. I went to meet him and was impressed by his subtle but powerful Qi that mostly made me giggle not hurt
-
I realised I don't like Game Of Thrones. But I like to Qigong to the movie Countryman
-
I used to love the Small Universe for this reason - could be practiced almost anytime. Only it ges deeper when you have all your attention to put into it. When ever I had problems falling asleep the SU would fix it very quickly. That's the beauty of lying down Qigong, you either get a really good and relaxed session or fall asleep while the practice continues in the sleep.
-
Now for some rebounding Qigong while watching Game Of Thrones. A video projector is great for this

OK, VERY powerful doesn't sound too limited

'Super Moon' Dah da dada Coming this Saturday
Sonhoffman replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Super moon? I've felt super stressed for the last week or so. For me it's a common thing a few days before full moon but this was something extraordinary, like I had this "cornered bear" feeling most of the time. Let's see if there's any compensation to be had in tonight's Super Moon (registered trademark) meditation. -
If the mind is active at following a movie then there's limitations to what the practice can do, at least this is how I've understood it. Usually if I do Qigong while watching a movie I end up losing the story and focusing on the Qi. Still it's a good idea to try and make your practice 24/7. I also did a lot of Small Universe in the car when I was practicing SFQ. Once I was chanting the "Om, Mwah" mantra while driving. I ended up chanting 5 hours that day

If you're spirituality is not rational, how do you keep from getting scammed?

I've also noticed sometimes it's unbearable to do sitting due to restlessness or sleepiness but usually I can manage to do GOT with enough concentration. Now am learning GOT II. Good luck to us both -

This is what happened to me, too. Since I noticed during my lotus sitting sessions that my body wanted to move to these new found patterns anyway I took Ya Mu's suggestion and started on the Stillness-Movement path. -
Thanks. Since my practice nowadays is Stillness-Movement, a recliner is not really the right way to sit for it doesnt allow for the movement part. I do fall into a trance-like state every now and then, with my body buzzing with the energy. So far I haven't been able to go deeper than that or to stay in the state of powerful energetics for very long, some distracting thought activity usually manifests before I even realise it.. I don't mean to sound negative, I know these are beneficial practices even at my level of accomplishment. I do like to use singing bowls and other meditative soundscapes. Spring Forest Qigong meditation CD's have been in heavy use for a couple of years now. I just bought me an indoor fountain made of stone which I like a lot. It even has a mist-producing device with a cool red light

I didn't realise so many people here could go so deep in meditation as to see without eyes being open or even for all thought activity to cease.. I have a hard time training meditation for very long, more than an hour because I either get bored and sore from the sitting or I get sleepy and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. Well, we're not all supposed to be(come) master meditators I guess.

The real reason for renunciation and asceticism is to escape samsara at death..

Oh, you've been reading again. Oops, I almost said "good for you". But seriously, your book could be right. And you might be interpreting it right. -
Since you actually believe eagerness is THIS powerful, well, you'd be better off cultivating eagerness. And yeah, the "scientific study" thing should be handled in another thread. I think you may have a very naive view of the whole thing. edit: sorry I didn't notice you already started a thread on the subject.

Today I had another session with Zorro the Chihuahua. He was immediately with me when I suggested we do healing and then when I put him on the couch next to me I had my other hand resting on the back of the couch. Zorro scratched it gently with his paw because he wanted me to use both hands So I did hot/cold projection for maybe 15-20 minutes and he was, again, paying attention the whole time.
