  1. Very good article. Although I don't agree with this: "To maximize reproduction, a culture needs all the wombs it can get, but a few penises can do the job" The reality is that all the human population comes from one Adam and one Eve, which they say had mutations along the timeline so that we (ALL HUMANS) have 10 Adams and 18 Eves as ancestors. But if I look at the Haplogroups Maps they look like pretty balanced as in terms of mutations and common ancestors (fathers - Y chromosome and mothers - mithocondrial DNA) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup#Hu...DNA_haplogroups http://www.dirkschweitzer.net/DNATests.html
  2. Men have penises/testicles, Women have vaginas/uterus... and that's pretty much what someone can say about men and women. There are men with breasts and women without breasts. There are men with too much estrogen and women with too much testosterone. There are men without beards and women with beards. And there are bald women too. Both men and women are PEOPLE. People are Extroverts and Introverts. People are Sensitives and Intuitives. People are Thinkers and Feelers. People are Judgers and Perceivers. People are dumb and brilliant. Are stupid and intelligent. Both men and women can be left brain dominant as well as right brain dominant. There are talkative men and silent women. I'm a Man (I have a penis) but I am an INFP. So that's make me a woman? I have feelings and I am quite sensible. All my life I was right brain dominant and still I could not CREATE anything. All I did was I copied others creations/innovations. And I educated and used my analytical mind to become an engineer. Just because there was once a Marie Curie, that does not mean that all the women are like her. Or that all the men are like Einstein. http://www.personalitypage.com/info.html There is not such a thing that women are emotional and men are not emotional. People are emotional and non-emotional. People are active and passive. There are LOTS of active women and passive men, does not mean they are ALL like that. There is NOT SUCH THING as men=Yang and women=Yin. There are Yin men and Yang women, and in fact is much more complicated as this. Both men an women have inside them the same organs (except the sex organs). The organs (even the sex organs) can be Yang or Yin. A man can have a Yang kidney and liver and a Yin heart. A woman can have a Yang lung and spleen and a Yin heart and kidney and liver. And their energy condition their behavior. Their mental energy is conditioned by their body. And the body is not only DNA. The body is also what you eat and what you do with it. And what about a male body inhabited by a woman soul? Or a female body inhabited by a man soul? What is he/she/it? What about a balanced person? Which is almost androgynous? And I am not talking about a hermaphrodyte, but a normal man or woman who cultivated the opposite sex or soul characteristics so that he/she became NEUTRAL? And so on there are endless combination which makes us (ALL THE PEOPLE) impossible to be categorized just in two or three categories.
  3. Cultivation and attractiveness

Thank you for pointing out the correct way of execution. If you keep the knees straight you cannot bend too much, so to have the head as close to floor as possible needs to keep the knees bent. Here is the correct way min 0:08 up to min 0:14 xzIjUR-mHCY
  4. Cultivation and attractiveness

It is part of Ruyi Taijiquan (Shi Ming). Sorry this is difficult to describe without a video of which I've never seen anything similar. 'Silk Reeling' perhaps? Begining at wuji stance and push/expand through the hands and chest as you bend forward at the waist. At the end of the first circle the vertabrae will be open, after a few moments you begin to straighten the spine as you slowly move back to closing the vertabrae to assume natural posture. This is repeated several times as you widen the stance three times and again three times as you come back to a normal wuji stance. Sorry if my explanation is poor? SEA2JKMrVJE
  5. I've seen some Fa Jin, but this?

Michael Philips has Fa Li skills from what I see in the videos. He said it can emmit Qi too but what he teaches in the videos is Fa Li. I have a friend who figured out how to do it by Song training and I felt on myself when he emmited. We did pushing hands, competitional style, so both of us wanted to gain, it was no cooperation, and for him was difficult to find the timing to release the force, and for me it was easy to neutralise because I was relaxed too. I felt the fluid wave passing through my body and disipating into the ground. He did it two times the second time catched me tensed and projected me but most of the time he could not do anything. This is Fa Qi, when contact is involved, the Qi is felt like electricity, you no longer have control over your muscles because of the spasm, so it is not possible to "neutralise" the Qi blast: nu99GRUUN6Y o_WgTrFyFUc I would say this is Fa Shen when no contact is involved: M5Lfy8LPsVM So in my opinion these demonstrations show that it is possible to train and use as a skill fighting but to me does not worth it to "learn" it. I mean there are other ways to fight more efficient than this.
  6. Cultivation and attractiveness

I know this Qigong from my teacher who studied with Shi Ming, but I believe it is designed to circulate the Yin energy of the earth (if you do the practice on the earth or on the grass) into the MCO and maybe involving the kidney meridians of the legs. I don't think has any correlation with attractiveness maybe exactly the opposite... Basically I believe more Drew Hempel that if you convert the Yin energy (electro-chemical energy) into Yang energy (electro-magnetic energy) you became more attractive to women, but if you practice this kind of Qigong you don't need any female energy because you feed on the Mother Earth energy directly.
  7. Fasting and Kung fu Training

Fasting is starving without the protein supply. You can fast only with water, or only with vegetables or juices without sugar. I know a receipt of fasting with only water, lemon juice and pumpkin seeds for treatment of illnesses. My father took a fasting for three months and cured a skin cancer only with apple and orange juices from fruits. Fasting has the role to reverse the metabolism from using carbs as primary via insulin - blood sugar into using fats as primary source of energy via glucagon. A normal metabolism, if you use carbs as primary energy source, the excess of sugar blood is converted by the liver into fats (cholesterol) and deposited into the tissues. This is a normal process in all animals and humans because in the past when humans were hunters-gatherers they had periods of starving so they needed the extra energy to be accessible later when starving. Obesity occurs because nowadays no one starves anymore and the foods are too much sugar/carbs. So when the organism starves after 2-3 days when all reserves of sugar from liver and other tissues are depleted, the metabolism is reversed and pancreas secretes glucagon instead of insulin. Glucagon removes fats deposits and converts them into ready accessible sugar (glucose) and then used by muscles. Also it destroys the muscular tissue by burning the proteins, you loose fats but also you loose the muscles. This is called catabolism when you burn your own tissues for energy. This is the reason why after 2-3 days of fasting you feel full of energy and light as a feather, because you switched the metabolism and begin to burn the fat. Is ok if you have mild physical activity but if you have an intellectual activity (at job or you are student and learn) or heavy physical activity or some activity that require concentration is not ok because the brain consumes large amounts of blood sugar and this is why when blood sugar drops you get a headache and you are not able to continue the brain activity, this is a sign you need a quick sugar dose, and if you get the sugar you did the fasting for nothing...
  8. Fasting and Kung fu Training

A doctor which is kickbox trainer explained me this way: If you eat protein before training the liver will convert the protein into ATP which is used as energy provider by muscles. If you eat carbs before training the same will happen except that to buy protein you pay more. Carbs are cheaper (bread and pasta) and you get the same amount of energy. After training if you eat carbs, you will replace the energy consumed, but usually after training you go to sleep. Usually the training in modern days takes place in the evening after the job hours. So you go to sleep with the stomach full of carbs and the liver will convert the excess carbs from the blood into fat, and you gain fat as well as muscles. If you eat protein after training and before going to sleep you provide exactly what the body needs, substances to rebuilt the damaged tissues from the muscles - normally after a hard training it should be a slight soreness otherwise you're undertrained. Anyhow I would recommend protein but no carbs at all before going to bed. This is the basic principle that stands in the Warrior diet. Actually they say starving during the day and eat protein before sleep when the body needs it. I don't follow this nowadays and maybe that's why I gained some fat, but when I trained I pretty much followed this rule. And right before training session I ate an apple or a banana or some juicy fruit and also right after the training, it gives instant energy plus vitamins needed.
  9. Fasting and Kung fu Training

Fasting during hard training is not recommended. If you want to keep training, eat a fruit before training and eat protein after, this is the best way to assimilate the nutrients. Otherwise you will catabolyze your body (you will burn the muscular tissue instead of burning the carbohydrats and you will loose the strength). If you want to fast stop kung fu training and do more qigong/taichi/meditation otherwise the fasting will not be effective. It is not good to mix them, each has its own purpose. With hard training you strengthen your body, with fasting you strengthen your spirit. If you do both, you will not gain anything.... I mean, you will gain the experience...that is not good to mix them.

Gurdjieff said the shocks cannot be passed by an individual by himself alone. He needs a teacher and a school, because the dynamics of the teaching and the interactions with the other students evolve on different octaves and when the individual blocks himself into an interval it is helped by the external shocks to pass by, so he needs three different and parallel paths of self developement in order to evolve.

IMO the seven chakras are the octave of energy in the body. As an alchemist if you want to transmute the lower DO into the higher octave DO you need to rise the energy vibration into RE, MI, FA, SO, LA, SI and finally higher DO. As Gurdjieff states between MI and FA there is the first interval that should be passed by the first shock, and between the SO and LA is the second interval passed by the second shock. The first interval is passed by building the first Dantien by sexual retention. The second interval is passed by building the second Dantien - the emotional center - the solar plexus by the second shock which I believe is the fasting. The third shock is the last interval SI - DO the final transmutation which I believe is the self remembering. This is my personal interpretation and not of Gurdjieff, at least he did not explicitly taught this way. Actually Gurdjieff speaks about the sexual retention and fasting as universal methods of monks in all Asiatic traditions in Ch 39 The Holy Planet Purgatory of The Beelzebub Tales to his grandson. He states that sexual retention should be done only at the beginning in order to create the "center", afterward sexual abstinence is not needed anymore, and he explicitly said that the traditional practices are misunderstood because they lack the understanding of the octave dynamics. He also states that the fasting should be done to produce the needed shock and not for religious reasons. Anyhow he has the most interesting theories about the reasons behind the religious practices spread all over Asia in Hindu, Christian, Islamic traditions, I am not sure about the Chinese tradition but I am firmly believe that all of them have a common root

Which is actually the case with the highly spiritual people, they glow in the dark when they pray or meditate or by some technique they activate the light. My friend saw the meridians glowing in the dark during a meditation and he thought he hallucinates, but he could see the meridians in full consciousness with the eyes wide open exactly as in the accupuncure charts and he could see them in the mirror. This is how the ancient taoists charted the meridians because they glow in the dark when highly energized.
  17. What is so "special" about full lotus?

It's a tetragonal structure that creates a pyramid effect on the body's energy, concentrating it into the central channel and balancing the collateral meridians, mainly disconnects the energy from the Earth and connects to the Heaven energy. It's so simple, nothing special...

That's why you had an insomnia, because the energy rised up to the head - the third dantien - pineal and pituitary glands. It is better to take it slow... first build the first dantien, then build the second, and then the third, it will take you more than a year so take it slow... yes, taichi, zhan zhuang is a way to build Yin kidney. Yin energy is the static electricity of the earth and plants. Also diet, Yin energy is within alkaline foods: http://www.tao-garden.com/5elements/5ElementsCDmenu.html http://www.tao-garden.com/5elements/Water.html yes, spring forest qigong is excellent. 5 tibetan rites is more vigurous and disperse the Yang and balances the central channel. "Steam" is a metaphor. The nature of the steam is to disperse. If you cool down, the "steam" liquify turning back to "water". If you cool down further the "water" solidify/crystalize turning to "ice/crystal/metal element". The purpose of the "steam" is to clean and open all the channels. It is easier to clean with hot water than with cold water. Normally the energy goes slow on the Yin channels and goes very quick on the Yang channels. If you circulate cold energy is very difficult and even if you can, the circulation is slower. If you heat a little bit the Yin energy will circulate quicker. Yin is body fluids and hormones, Yang is bio-electro-magnetism. If you cool down the Yang energy will circulate slower, it is just a matter of fine tunning, you need to make aquaintance with your body and your organs. Liver likes it warm and moist. Spleen likes it dry and warm. Stomach likes it cool and wet and does not like dry. Lungs does not like it neither too dry nor too moist. Listen to them what they like...
