Hi guys, It is ok for me. I will only do the meds I know anyway. Guess time is coming for me to learn new meds... I am the one who is not available before 1pm PDT. Good to know your sinuses don't bother you much these days, Aurélien, it helps waiting for the surgery ... Take care!

Hi Lloyd, Good to see you back here! I am sure I am not the only one to miss you. Hoping you have been well and that you are seeing the near-end of the issues you have been dealing with. As the "father" of this thread, you have a special place here Take care
-
Thanks Aurélien! Glad to know that you can still practice a bit so the three of us can practice on Fridays. Thanks also for encouraging me to learn the MSW meds. Actually, I am going through certain changes (exterior and interior) in my life and I don't think I am really ready to learn the MSW meds yet. I know that Sifu Terry gives a more rapid learning pace in the sheet inserted in the DVD case but I feel I have only scratched the surface of the few I know and I am not yet worthy of the other meds, It looks as if I was at the entry point of the system and would hear a voice telling me : "You still have homework to do before making a step beyond". It is perhaps a delusion of some kind but this is my reality now. Enough of my personal ramblings, I stop now and go to practice. "See" you next Friday guys !

Hello Aurélien, pitisukha, Just to say that I am here every Friday..I may post only when I can't practice. I still haven't learned MSW yet so I practice the meds I know. Cheers, Bubbles France

Hi Aurélien, I am really sorry to hear that you have to stop your practice because of your current sinuses condition. Hopefully, after the surgery you will be able to breathe better If you don't mind, I will pray for your forthcoming surgery (can you tell us approximately when it is scheduled ?). Thank you for organizing the FP worldwide events. If ever you have to be away from your computer during the time surgery/recovery (btw during anytime you have to be away) I can be in charge of the organization until you come back. Thanks again, and take good care of yourself, Bubbles

Hi chris If you really have adrenal fatigue, you can try this for a few weeks and see how it goes. The company selling the herbs has been recommended by a TTB member who is also a TCM practionner, dmattwads. He said he got good results with their products. I have tried one of them and I can confirm it really works. Take care,

Hi Dan The knee, hip, arm warm-ups followed by Wu chi are recommended for beginners. After a few weeks of practice, Master Lam advices in the book beginning with the 8 brocades before standing. Both are fine but the latter requires more time and has deeper effects. Best,

Thanks to those liking my post _/\_ Edited because my post is not useful anymore -
Hi soaring crane, Good! I went through the same procedure when I ordered it back in 2010 when the book was first released. Time flies! €118... I noticed there are often weird prices on amazon. Hope people are not gullible enough to buy a € 37 book at that price.. Please give feedback about the book once you'll get it, I am curious. Take care

Hi Cheya, You may need to install Adobe Flash Player on your computer to be able to leaf through the book. Hope you will be able to see it, and keep us updated !

Hi Cheya, When I bought and read it for the first time, I was disappointed. I found it wordy, with too much pictures and not diving a lot into technical details. So I mumbled a few things and put it on a shelf. A few months later, I took it up again, and began to read it with an open mind and gave the book a chance. I realized progressively that what I took for a wordy text, useless pictures and very basic exercises were skillful means to allow me to understand and sense the body posture into zhan zhuang . And it does that in a very tactful way. When you compare with other books about zhan zhuang, they either say next to nothing about that, either fill you with a hazy speech about the energetic secrets of zhan zhuang ( cough, cough) but never talk about the physical aspect of zhan zhuang. In my view, the major benefit of the book is to prevent people from practicing zhan zhuang in a exterior, mechanical way, helping them bulding a practice based onto an understanding of the body structure, on how this structure can be felt up to a point. And this is a major challenge for beginners. Of course it can't really replace a teacher, but for a book, it does quite a good job, imho. The author is a disciple of Lam Kam Chuen and also practices mindfulness within Thich Nhat Hanh's lineage. I don't know if you browsed a lot the website, but you can leaf through the book here. It may help you see what I mean, and you may also be disappointed at first sight by what you will see. This is just my subjective viewpoint so take it for what it is. Hope at least that it helps you understand why I recommended the book. Best, edited for spelling and to add '(cough, cough)' and 'Best'

Hi vivekji108, This is not necessarily a conflicting advice. It depends on what you are looking for. I began zhan zhuang without a live teacher, following Lam Kam Chuen's books. After a year, I was feeling good, lot of energy although I was not sleeping a lot, no more colds, no flu etc.. But under a teacher, it is a totally different experience, I mean, it turns out to be real work. If you can't have a teacher, try with the book. As Lam Kam Chuen is advising himself, if you are feeling worse, stop your practice. Best,
-
Hi soaring crane, You may get some good informations in the following book. It gives some nice ways to present zhan zhuang to beginners. I have it in english but I see it has been translated into German. http://www.thedynamicsofstandingstill.com/index.html Best,

Thoughts about stating warnings for new practitioners
Bubbles replied to thelerner's topic in Forum and Tech Support
Actually, there is a medical disclaimer that can be found in the FAQ. This seems to cover your backs already: "Medical Disclaimer The contents of The Tao Bums website, such as text, graphics, and other material located at thetaobums.com and its subdomains or aliases are for informational purposes only. The content is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of Content found on the Website. If you have a medical emergency, call your physician or health provider immediately. The Tao Bums does not recommend or endorse any specific third-party tests, physicians, products, procedures, opinions, or other information found on the Website. Reliance on any information located on thetaobunms.com is solely at your own risk." Now, you can add a specific warning to the welcoming message when new people join about energy techniques used without a teacher. But this won't reach lurkers who avidly browse TTB in order to find descriptions about energetic practices. My online 2 cts worth of the day, I can now return to real life -
What do you think the forum can do to attract some quality teachers?
Bubbles replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes it does work, but there is some requirement. Don't blame the teacher when you have bad results to your test when you haven't done your homework in the first place. Task one: see the difference between the Lamb of God and gallinaceans. -
What do you think the forum can do to attract some quality teachers?
Bubbles replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
I was passing by and saw this thread so I thought I would just leave this tip to attract quality teachers: "For where two or three are assembled in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:20 -
Thanks a lot Aurélien for setting up the session so that I can practice a full hour with everyone. That's very kind of you! Take care
-
Hi Aurélien, Thanks for your willingness to find convenient times for sessions. Actually, I wasn't asking that you adjust to my practice time..but of course, if some people can practice with me, I am all for it . My practice usually starts at 1.30 pm PDT. Taking into account the DST that will start tonight until oct,26, it means that my practice starts at 10.30 pm UTC+2. Take care
-
Generally speaking, apart from the early morning practice, I can't practice before 2.30 pm PDT. Last week was an exception. It's not easy to find a convenient time for all...
-
Ooops, I just realized L.A. was on PDT (not PST) since March, 9 so I was completely off the mark yesterday It was a very nice session anyway
-
I was finally able to join the session at 12 PST I followed this sequence: Bending the Bows (15mn) Monk Holding the peach (15mn) Sitting warm up 1,2 and 3 (10mn each) It was a very nice session! Thanks Aurélien for organizing this
-
Hi all, I'll probably won't be able to begin on time, but I'll join at 12.30, consequently with a gap and a different program because I have not learned MSW1 so...my presence will be just symbolic Best,

Cat, "Phoenix and dragon play" is the 2nd meditation taught in Chi kung for health vol.5 ( "five 90-second power meditations"). As Sifu Dunn just said it in this post , these are kind of advanced meditations and require that you have a foundational practice in the meditations taught in DVDs vol 1-4 but if you have a background in energetic practcies you may try them and see what results you get.
