English/Feng When the country is ruled with a light hand The people are simple. When the country is ruled with severity, The people are cunning. Happiness is rooted in misery. Misery lurks beneath happiness. Who knows what the future holds? There is no honesty. Honesty becomes dishonest. Goodness becomes witchcraft. Man's bewitchment lasts for a long time. Therefore the sage is sharp but not cutting, Pointed but not piercing, Straightforward but not unrestrained, Brilliant but not blinding. Relating the subconscious mind to the country or people in this verse could be an interesting thought, I was taught that your subconscious mind is like a kid in the candy store, cunning in a way to distract you from, "being" and to enjoy calmness", alway distracting you.

I have been very fortunate to have trained under the teachers that I have. Now that my teacher has past away it is very hard to find a teacher with her caliber of teaching. Some of the students feel that they are the next Grand Master just because they are the eldest student. She never pasted down certificates of achievements to show where you are on the totem pole. Great Masters never had to pat themselves on the back or tell people how great they are. The quality of students produced from any linage will show how good it is. Most true teachers take extra care who they are going to teach and what. I didn't even become a student until I trained under her for 5 years, that was a very short time for a new student. That was only because I trained under one of her other students before her. Linage is a good thing if they are a real student or not. My teacher would always tell me (I think every time I trained from her) every day Loyer, 12hrs every day for 50 years and now, 24hrs and then smiled. I still haven't achieved this. How good of a student were they when training from that Linage?

Does anyone use a meditation bench to meditate?

When I was introduced to the Tao Te Ching I must have read that thing about 100 times, My teacher told me to apply every chapter to 10,000 thing so, I applied each chapter to meditation, replaced the word Tao with Chi and used as much as I can to sparring tactics. Reading this chapter brings back allot of memories, good ones. Matter a fact, I don't recall to have any bad feeling come out in any of the chapters all good ones. Teach people right principals and the people will govern themselves.

You still have to learn to be empty to achieve and understand this word, which takes discipline, or are you comparing this word to the Tao Te Ching," The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao, the name that can be named is not the eternal name". Anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy we should be seeking these things. Calmness and emptiness are great goals to set for one self, being aware of self and feeling the Chi run through your body and mind are indescribable feelings, and that takes allot of patients and discipline to achieve this, and a good teacher.

I have been practicing the Chinese Arts at the age of 15 in 1983, meditation was one of the first postures we learned the first day of practice. I have reached what the Chinese call Tung Chi and my life has changed for the better. The way I feel and see have become new in everything, what I see, feel, taste, understand, etc. The practice of movement with chi has become an unbelievable and indescribable to teach exactly what I see and feel. At every time I relax and just think about being empty all around me becomes calm, even people can feel the change in the air. What are some the experiences you have had
