Hermetic thought recognized the mineral kingdom as possessing mind and intelligence, just below plants, animals, and humans. Hermeticists believe that minerals, while being unable to move or take action, possess the highest states of consciousness and wisdom, and exist in a state of meditative bliss at all times. and as you go up the scale to humans, you have more agency and less wisdom (in a nutshell). They also believe that the mind becomes less "hive mind" and more "individual mind" the higher up one goes. To the point that crystals just vibrate with the gaian wisdom moreso than really possessing their own distinct personality as such. And if a crystal breaks, both parts of it are still conscious and vibrate with that wisdom. I have always been drawn to crystals gems and minerals. Some people feel an affinity with plants or animals, but i love rocks. They talk to me. Glad you're having those experiences, i hope its the beginning of something wonderful.

tea can get bitter for a couple reasons, mostly because its steeped too long, or in water too hot. if using a green tea bag, let the water come off a boil for a few minutes before pouring, and take the bag out of the water after 3 or 4 minutes also whole leaf tea is less bitter than the shake they put in bags

yes exactly, if a person has a personal tendency to fixate, they are going to fixate on SOMEthing no matter which end of the spectrum they find themselves on. Conserving ones life force is better than not conserving it, but attachments and paranoia can get in the way regardless. I think mindful meditation is the best tool to observe ones psyche and see where are they getting hung up, and mindful living is the best way to form new habits. yes definitely! Again, i am really glad for your success it does make a huge difference in ones life!

welcome to tao bums melanie can you order tea online?

i wouldn't do that too much, i'm pretty sure one can damage the soft tissue in that area by that technique. Orgasms are okay! if you're feeling imbalanced on the other end of the spectrum, i advise just busting a nut. You'll probably feel a lot better. I think in the beginning, every 2 weeks is a nice rhythm, or a rough estimate of what works to make your body feel good. Since you have just started, be nice to yourself I think you have the bug now for conservation and don't want to lose essence at all, but its okay to do every now and then. It just makes a lousy lifestyle. best to you

cool i am also listening to an audiobook called "Love is a Fire and I am Wood" by Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, about sufism. Its kind of an overview, and i like it so far.

can you say a little more about the 7 centers merging into the heart? Is that yogic, or from a different culture? thanks

Jeff, in my experience, the chakras don't need to "open" or "awaken" or whatever you want to call it in any particular order. My girlfriend for example has awesome crown experiences, and the top of her head tingles in meditation and she can access that divine consciousness pretty easily, but her third chakra (manipura at the navel) is something she still has yet to release all the blocks from. Its really a struggle for her. People can be all over the place with their awakening, and the stages that it happens in don't need to be linear. Just something to consider. ReL, there are a lot of different chakra systems, which doesn't mean that some are right and some are wrong, i think they all work, but maybe you could clarify which is the 8th youre talking about? the system i use places the chakra above sahasrara about 2 feet above the head and associates it with white light. It is the center of cosmic consciousness, where the sahasrara is ones own personal god(dess) consciousness, the 8th is impersonal, more cosmic than individual. It is said to be a shared chakra, where human consciousness can tap into and embrace the wisdom of the universe. I think its like an elaboration or development of sahasrara personally. They are so closely related that its like as you get deeper into sahasrara, you just get deeper into the universe, til you get get to the om point of pure vibration in the void, and then the void itself. There isn't really dimensionality when you approach that level of consciousness, so 2 ft, 3 ft, its all silly. Its also silly to think of those levels of god consciousness as being somehow "deeper" or more centrally located in the core of sahasrara. They are up there, and it works to visualize them as being 2 ft, 3 ft, the center of emptiness and void at 4 ft, but those centers are actually beyond mind, they just appear there because they have to interact with the individual mind somehow. Its hard to explain. Once you get past 7, there can't be a really clear map, there are only concepts that are helpful, in the same way that all the different cultures who worked with chakras had their own models, and different as they might be, they all worked to give those people results. And it might have nothing to do with what you are talking about with your 8-15 model. But good luck either way. The important thing is to get out of individual consciousness and relate to the universe. Shivoham

I wondered, since taoists are (monastically speaking) a notorious bunch of martial artists. I think the important thing is, did you lose control? Did you emotions get the best of you? Or was it an act of will, carried out in a state of equanimity? or something in between. I personally see losing control in a violent way as pretty poor behavior, but sometimes, as seth and others mention, people need a beating, especially if its administered with an intentin that is for their own benefit.

there are legends of extraordinarily advanced masters who could change their appearance in different ways. They pop up across a spectrum of traditions. Some of the accounts are almost sure to be dubious, exaggerated, or otherwise some sort of liberty on the truth, but the techniques are never shared. I don't doubt that within the outer limits of the human experience lie the ability to do all kinds of stuff that people who live within the inner limits would call "supernatural" or "magical", including changing aspects of physical reality. But to answer your question in a single word, no.

In all seriousness my main gripe about DI is that he purports to be a harbinger of freedom but his books are really just filled with paranoia and conspiracy theory. That stuff might stop people from trusting the world bank (if there are people who are stupid enough to trust the world bank) or it might get people to generate negative emotions for _______ fill in the blank. But it doesnt actually generate freedom for anyone. It just destabilizes people, and i know more people who have read his books and had a psychotic episode or started thinking in disempowered ways than have read them and really feel that they are instrumental in their attainment of personal freedom. So i think his approach to freedom is just called that because freedom sells more books than, oh say, "i am me! i am full of herpetaphobia, paranoia, and negative emotions!" i am not saying that there isNT a global conspiracy, or a war going on for the minds of every last world citizen, or a lot of manipulative destructive etc BS that is perpetrated upon the populace of earth. No. But i don't think he offers the actual solution, a means to attain personal peace and wellbeing in spite of the darkness of this age. For that one needs actual spiritual teaching and practice, not conspiracy theory. the best light i can view DI in is that i think his teachings can be useful at a certain stage of a persons psychological development but ultimate needs to be discarded in favor of love, compassion, and other fruits of spiritual wakefulness. -

having had a good night sleep on this im just gonna post one last post and call this thread quits. so a couple things for you i4l 1. ad hominem approach to debate makes you look childish lol 2. the idea that because someone is having an emotional reaction, you are somehow right, is also a logical fallacy. i feel passionately about a lot of things because, well, thats my nature. it has nothing to do with how right (or wrong) you are. 3. logical fallacies aside, the distillation of the point that people are trying to get across to you is Very simple. There is a very broad spectrum of expression that human beauty takes, and a wide variety of ways in which people are found "beautiful" by others. Can you understand? its that simple. so after stooping to respond to your demeaning posts, i realized that trying to speak logically to your ad hominems was a waste of time. This is all i really have to say. Keep reading #3 until you understand it. Its kind of important for a mature human being to get that point. And remember, people really are telling you this stuff because they care about you. And because its important that these seeming truths get a counterpoint in a public debate.. but thats another story over and out

pretty much what i'd expect you to say.. including the presumptuous comments about how im not actually awake enough to comment on you (or maybe im in the .01 percent! whoopee) anyway i don't really care to talk to you about it at length since you can't debate issues without getting crappy about my "false spirituality" and other ignorant claims. you can have your cave lol. you approach beauty from a purely physical standpoint, and thats fine. to me, that is a small part of the big picture. as i read in another thread recently, thats like calling a cupholder a car. its just a small part of a car. all the science that supports that idea is there, sure. phi ratio is phi its just not all that goes into everyones conception of beauty. so instead of taking it personally, and getting your panties in a knot because i disagree with your analysis, why don't you go chill out and drink a beer, or whatever you do, and try to realize that people are telling you about higher consciousness because they are trying to help you, not because they have a false spirituality. my spirituality is not diminished because of your attempted insults, nor are my awakened higher centers of consciousness. only your integrity is sullied. So carry on if you want, but i will still try to share the point of view of one who has evolved up out of a purely physical way of looking at things. thats all. A lot of bad behavior comes out of being stuck in a gross way of looking at things, and a lot of mistreatment of women is born of attitudes like those expressed in this thread. I think its not the whole picture, and im going to tell you that every time you post some pseudo-science that tries to back up a neandrethalic view of women, beauty, and life in general. or anything PUA or misogynistic or misanthropic. so get used to it. its not idealism, if you need to pidgeonhole me for your own sake, its closer to realism than you'd like to think lol

totally awesome dhiggs! bless your success as the channels between the lower centers and the upper centers open, via qigong, or just via you retention practice forcing that energy through the dormant passageways, or any other practice for that matter, the excess will automatically be transmuted upward as it builds, and you will rarely have to exert effort to draw it up, or be overcome by excess energy in the genitals and lower centers. the MCO does this too... i highly recommend incorporating that into your routines if you haven't yet sounds great man im glad for you

Where spirituality and science meet, Genes and Taoism.

that brain gene expression during sleep is contingent upon prior waking experiences makes sense to me intuitively, for what thats worth. I mean dreams work that way, and if you avoid new age explanations of dreams, you are left essentially with brain activity, period. That still raises a lot of questions (like if we don't need sense organs to perceive, why do we have them at all?, and can the mind perceive directly without the interface of sense organs, as in OOBEs?, etc) i couldnt keep up with that abstract or the link, too technical and heady sorry i am not a hardcore scholar by any means, i find the language somewhat alienating -

supernatural powers and enlightenment
konchog uma replied to idiot_stimpy's topic in General Discussion
one can be free of attachments and obstructions without being clairvoyant, telepathic, or any of the other manifestations of psychic power. But in the course of all the meditating one must do in order to dissolve attachments and obstructions, it is not uncommon for practitioners to awaken psychic abilities like the inner senses. So i think that they are related but not necessarily concomitantly, just kind of coincidentally. so, no one does not need superpowers to be enlightened. not all true psychics are enlightened, i can think of a particularly unenlightened one i know. i would say enlightened beings don't necessarily have to be psychic, but often are in some way (or several ways).
