"There is a fascinating relationship between the perception of timelessness and the cessation of breath. In Taoist meditation practice this suspension of the breath is often encountered when entering the deeper states of mental quiescence." from Taoist Stillness Practices by Tom Kenyon http://tomkenyon.com/taoiststillness My ninja teacher has talked a little about drawing the winds to the central channel in order to breathe energetically instead of physically. I don't claim to understand it, but he does.. as i recently mentioned, i have talked to people who have seem him sit underwater (icy water!) for more than 30 minutes. I am not here to judge, but i would just like to say that Boy has a lot of negative commentary for someone who claims to know "nothing about this particular technique". What one says to others about something is most helpful when it is a reflection of what they know about it.

thanks for talking a little about the divine heart, and for that article too! neat stuff. I forget how powerful the heart is. I was meditating a couple weeks ago and doing something based in my head, i forget just what, but all of a sudden, i saw two lungs and they started coming towards me and as they zoomed in there was a heart in the center and it kept getting closer until my POV was right in the middle of the heart. A voice said "this is where your mind is!" its certainly worth the effort to repattern ourselves and overwrite all the false paradigms we have been ingrained with! thanks for the encouragement -

yeah its one of those irrational quirks about my mind right now.. consciously, i am aware that we are all right where we need to be, even if we are holding incorrect beliefs, quagmired in delusions, etc. But some deeper part of my brain gets kinda turned off by even talking to people who are convinced, for example, that the modern scientific approach to phenomena is sufficient to understand mystical accomplishments. And it must be something in the planets or something because it has come up in real life and on TTB multiple times in the last week or two, just right in my face, like "HI! some people think life is really normal!! wake up to that fact!" lol its just a lesson im learning right now yknow yeah its like misery loves company i think thats the main point, that other people, limits or no, are going through the karmic passage that they need to go through at that time, and my ego and its "you should be free dammit!" is really just the play of my own selfish imposition onto reality. It all comes from lack of acceptance and the imposition of imputed terms onto things which are probably just right just the way they are thanks for the reminder, refreshing! -

sounds awesome! i like marrying the hearts. Did you do that ritually, or with meditation, or just philosophically? If you don't mind my asking. I have been practicing "being poised in compassion" which is really just a phrase i made up, but working with the idea of always being ready to practice compassion. When driving, or shopping, or doing mundane things, i realized that i was kind of poised to strike or complain or just generally find things dis-satisfactory. Realizing that life can be endlessly complained about or found dis-satisfactory, i am trying to always be poised to forgive and practice compassion. One thing that keeps popping up for me lately is the limitations of peoples beliefs. Here on TTB and in the real world, people keep telling me "i dont believe that".. someone told me just last night "i dont believe in kundalini. I've done kundalini yoga and i didn't feel anything up my spine." I had to really try to keep from laughing, but that is really the extent of their exploration into it! I guess she felt like it should be easy, or the kind of thing that one can awaken with a little effort and a couple classes. Oh well, its been a hard lesson for me, it really gets my goat! I have a hard time accepting how lost and confused some people are, and how i can't possibly do anything to help them beyond just accepting that they are ignorant and still seeing their "buddha nature" and loving them anyway -

Food, Inc is a good one I like an Animal Planet 3 part called "Wildest India" ... really amazing stuff you can find the torrest out there, i know its on demonoid, but i'm not sure about posting torrent links on TTB so i figure if you really want to watch it you'll search for it

I like Nacir Khemir's work, and want to thank SIME for introducing me to it. His "desert trilogy" is comprised of Wanderers of the Desert - a strangely surreal and ambiguous piece that i just watched last night, much to my own enjoyment.. made 20 years before Bab'Aziz, there are some stark contrasts, but still an amazing film The Dove's Lost Necklace - just found a copy on demonoid but haven't watched it yet.. waiting for girfweh to watch it w me Bab'Aziz The Prince Who Contemplated His Soul - an amazing movie, stories within stories, all within the beautiful story of a child and her grandfather who are travelling in the desert to find a secret gathering of sufis which happens once every 30 years

The group of people who think that nothing should really be kept secret. Thats the group. Its not like an official organization, like the W.C.Fields Club for Non-Members or something I was just referring to all the people who think that secrets are dirty as a group. -

LOL i used to belong to the group of people who thought that secrets were dirty and that teachings and truths should be freely available to all. Then i realized why masters keep their cards close, because fools get REALLY threatened when you talk about not being subject to the same limitations they are! I just kinda went through the same thing on another thread recently, talking about the accomplishments of my teacher. And thats just the stuff he has told me its ok to talk about!! I can't imagine what people would do if they knew what a human being was really capable of! LOL probably shut their eyes and go back to sleep and convince themselves that it was all fairy tales and bedtimes stories for ignorant children... being somewhat free from ordinary confines myself, i can relate. I don't talk about my gifts or my life though, people are generally too ignorant. I hate to say it but its been proven true time and time again. Even here on a daoist forum people think that the stories about jumping from mountain peak to mountain peak, and living for thousands of years are just made up nonsense, like ancient masters had nothing better to do than sit around in a circle and invent lies! LOL! oh it kills me I wanted to post in empathy for your having been attacked for speaking your truth, which is valuable to anyone with their eyes open. But it came out as a bitch session about those with their eyes shut. Hahahaha sorry ShaktiMama. -
i find Vairochana's 7 points of posture (they may actually be called something different) helpful. and i find that the spine is key, keeping it not too tight, not too loose, like stacking a tall pile of coins. the hardest thing for me was keeping my chin tucked and the back of my neck lengthened. I imagine that the back of my head is raising up and going back, and when i find that spot that feels right, i keep it there. perhaps you can articulate what your exact problem is, ie legs, back, shoulders? is something getting sore? is the energy just not flowing smoothly? that will help people help you better good luck

if you want to keep running your mouth and making rude comments, you are going to find yourself without many people to talk to. Third time was the charm, but still no answers to my original questions. This conversation is over. Take the last word if you need it.

thats why i posted the questions again for you. still no answer? couched presumptuousness is still presumptuous... couched insults are still insulting. You only make yourself look bad with that kind of talk. I am not gullible, nor am i wrong. I am talking about events from my life, which i remember clearly. This isn't an issue thats open to your judgements or prejudices about right and wrong. And you don't know me or anything about me like whether or not i am gullible lol, all you know is that i have experienced things that your (rather limited) worldview can't neatly incorporate. you forgot to quote a key word, "purely". I said that a person who thinks that life is purely mundane, basically lives in a small world. The real world is bigger than that, and is not purely ordinary. The physical laws of the world can be pushed, bent, and broken. and who said rational?! not me! invisibility isn't rational! The world and the mystics that live within it are most certainly not purely rational, past a point they are entirely irrational, unreasonable, and laugh in the face of science. I am discussing things past that point, which rationality certainly does not apply to, and furthermore, i never claimed rationality, i claimed possibility. I have seen a lot of things that science can't explain, so i know what i believe about the limits of modern thinking. If you want to believe that nobody can become effectively invisible go ahead. If you want to believe that nobody can walk on coals, or that nobody can survive under icy water for half an hour, or that nothing mystical has ever happened, go right ahead. But it might be your loss. If my teacher, or the other masters of the human form who perform similar feats, limited themselves to the "objective means and rational thinking" of the science of the ordinary mundane man, they would not be able to accomplish what they had accomplished.

as far as small amounts of food go, is that just first thing in the morning? or throughout the day? I'm that way in the morning... i just eat fruit. If its throughout the day, its possible that your metabolism is such that you should just snack throughout the day instead of eating large meals. My girlfriend goes through phases like that, then back to eating meals. A good rule is "eat only when hungry and not until full." Eat until about 3/4 full, then stop. One last thing, doing qigong after eating can be bad anyway cause of stagnation and circulation issues. I like to wait at least 1 hour before doing qigong or any other energy work including yoga. hope you find the answer to your problem, good luck

Stosh, Instead of citing an out-of-context quote from a completely different thread about cellular biology, why don't you try to answer the questions i posed in this thread? Again... What is the difference between what i describe myself, and my teacher, experiencing, and invisibility? It doesn't bother me that your mind is closed to the idea of siddhi powers, most people's minds are closed in that way. But if you are going to try to have a conversation with me, at least keep it relevant. Your logic seems to be "you admitted in a different thread to not knowing absolutely everything about biology, therefore, you're wrong about invisibility (even though you're talking about subjective experiences and things you yourself have witnessed)" so it is hard for me to know where to begin when replying to you, hence the lols in your direction. I don't feel outnumbered by anyone; i am not engaging this discussion on the basis of trying to convert or convince anyone that what i believe is right. If you have seen enough to believe in siddhi powers, then you "know" i'm right. And if you are more rigid or restricted in your belief of what a human being is and is capable of, you "know" i'm wrong. I would be a little more hesitant when telling others what they experienced and why, because in this instance, you're wrong. Remember that you don't know absolutely everything either lol Anyway, you happen to "know" that im wrong. Thats fine. Its expected really. I happen to have shared a story from my life, so i don't really care what you think you know. I experienced it firsthand! LOL i dont need any one else's verification! so that is where i am coming from. You are welcome to believe whatever you want about reality and what spiritually practiced humans are capable of. Just be aware that the more you believe that life is purely mundane, ordinary and normal, the more of the miracle you miss.
-
there will always be people who say that only the ordinary is possible, because to them, only the ordinary is possible. that does not change the fact that extraordinary things are possible. like i said i am hesitant to jump into the conversation because it has been dominated by the limited awareness which says that nobody can possibly be invisible. I dont care what you think about me, you can call me a liar, call me crazy, but i still experienced what i experienced. i have talked to people who were about to call the police because my teacher was under icy water meditating for 30 minutes. But im sure you think thats impossible too lol
-
LOL ill assume im right til you actually prove me wrong in other words, i witnessed what i witnessed, and the limits of your worldview and scope of awareness don't mean a thing to me. They don't change what i witnessed.

harmonious vibrations is harmonious vibrations sometimes trying to explain or philosophize about something only obscures that thing, specially if that thing is a right-brained thing, like harmonious vibrations are im sure there is a left brain science to them (called pop music lol) but the true genius of music comes from the right brain, where philosophizing and discussion of this type will do you no good maybe why you wanna fightiiiiin so much i dunno mebbe just accept that music sounds good and let it sound good without trying to logicalize the scenario, which will increase your enjoyment yknow good luck

Cabbages talk to each other and warn each other when attacked
konchog uma replied to Jetsun's topic in General Discussion
i just noticed that i missed that post.. so four months later... i think consciousness and spirit can take forms and be sad and have nothing to do with nerve cells and neurons and a CNS. I have encountered very sad spirits. But that, for many who do not and have never encountered a spirit, presupposes the existance of noncorporeal beings, which i understand is a stretch for some, and takes the conversation to a different dimension entirely. So take that or leave it. That being said, i don't think sadness requires a CNS. I think plants get sad. I think that thinking that the whole phenomenon of emotional intelligence rests on a brain and CNS is anthropocentric. I think life is stranger and more complex than that. And as far as fish go, pain is pain, whether one gets sad about it or not. So i don't really see how that point relates directly to what we are talking about. Maybe people think fish have no emotions because they don't have eyebrows lol neither do chickens and people love to eat them too. I dunno could be more anthropocentrism! In the end, i only have my suspicions based on my limited range of interaction with plants, animals, and spirits. But that being what it is, i don't think a CNS has much to do with consciousness. Maybe the mind is different from the brain and doesn't rest on the existance of grey/white matter. I think the brain is the interface between the mind and the body, in other words, our minds have an awareness or a thought, and it is filtered through the brain to send the electrical impulses to our, hands for example, or anywhere. There are a lot of different theories though, so i am open to the possibility of being wrong lol -
i've been hesitant to jump in to this thread cause i can't actually do it (yet) but there are ways to become literally invisible to sight. they are very advanced but exist nonetheless. i am reminded of yogananda's guru, who, when pictures were taken of him, would not appear in the picture. But that is not invisibility proper, just a sort of related siddhi. one of my teachers (ninjitsu) was working with some guys to move boxes, helping a buddy move out of his house. He was walking up and down a narrow hallway and stairs and other enclosed areas all day and at the end of the day one of the other guys, who my teacher remarked had a particularly weak and obtuse mind, said to him "nice to finally see you! we've been working all day, where have YOU been?!@" My teacher had walked past him 20 times that day, but just like a master yogi will retain prana with his breath automatically as a matter of breathing with his whole body and energy body, my teacher is able to manifest siddhi powers automatically, without meaning to or intending to do so. One of the interesting things about that story is that other people were able to see and notice him just fine, but the blockhead wasn't. His mind and energy were "closed" so to speak so he just simply didn't see or notice my teacher. What is the difference between that and invisibility? Its hard to disappear in front of someones eyes like those 3 daoist masters did, but my teacher has disappeared from my attention and vision while walking right beside me, just to mess with me. He loves to hang out with natives and trackers/hunters and fuck with their heads by disappearing on them and then reappearing right next to them or behind them. There is breath, energy (shen), and intention involved, its not just a matter of being good at hiding or being particularly quiet I have sat in a chair in the corner of a coffee shop right where i told my teacher i would be and had him call me on my phone while standing in my sight saying "where are you, you said you would be here?" but i was just focusing on a particular very high frequency of energy, not really intending to become invisible. He was preoccupied with important things at the time. He was amazed with me that day, because his mind and energy are so "open" that he is hard to play tricks of that sort on. I don't share all that to try to prove anything, or show off. Literally it was an accident. But i was meditating in a chair 20 feet away from where he was standing, having told him that i would be in that very chair, and he couldn't see me. I could see myself, but all things being relative, what is the difference between that and invisibility? just some food for thought, and a reminder that at high levels of spiritual cultivation, amazing and miraculous things are possible. There are people that can levitate, teleport, and do more astonishing things without breaking a sweat.
