Dr Yang, Jwing-Ming's Embryonic Breathing
realfastcat replied to konchog uma's topic in Daoist Discussion
So you actually do Embryonic Breathing? It happens spontaneously due to your stillness-movement practice? This is a part of your Taiji practice? -
Yes, that is an excellent post ralis. +1 Also this idea of Dick Cheney supporting a Hillary candidacy is an attempt to divide and conquer. This point: 9. Without adequate health care for all, what about a virulent epidemic that threatens millions? If there is little government, then who is responsible? I have to say I am very hesitant to receive any vaccination. This is just a scary idea from any angle.

Wow, Reptiles get alot of promotion on this board. What we really need is more chatter about Cats! Even I had to laugh at 1:58

When I first heard that Rick Perry was running for president. I did have a thought pass through my mind "Is Rick Perry the Devil!?!?" Even if that is setting the bar rather highly. The Devil willing to be a US President? IMO that might be a huge demotion. But if The Devil was willing to be the US President. What an oppotunity for us for some real leadership! Here is some superb insight from Marblehead. Well, considering that the United States is already a fascist state I suppose the people will be electing a fascist to govern it. And remember, the voters were promised change by the Democrats and there have been none. Same ole shit. I really got a chuckle when the first moment Obama could have exercised his "transparency" he chose to go behind closed doors. starwdog65 "Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?" Excellent question! Of course we could just abolish both of them. It would be best if we could at least weaken both of them. They are both obviously insanely sick institutions. Little wonder that we need Obama sick care. Dainin "For what it's worth, Perry has been vetted by the Bilderberg Group" This is a great seal of approval! You almost act as if the Bilderberg Group is a bad thing?? Do you have any understanding of what our world would be like without the Bilderburg Group? They are the necessary tryanny George Bush 41 spoke of. The operative word is necessary. thelerner "That said, he has almost no chance." Rewind to 1992 when so many said the exact same thing about Perot. How many said they would have voted for Perot if they thought he had a chance. Yet he still got 20% of the vote. bubbles "Unfortunately free thinking and free voting doesn't equal critical thinking and humanism." Correct. joeblast " that morphine drip." When actually did the Drip begin? I suggest it was 1992 at the latest and perhaps sooner. Potato chips or Computer chips? Didn't we settle for the Potato chips? Didn't we send the Computer chips to China? Remember that "huge sucking noise" ? And "People need to be taught to rely on themselves and not the government. Sick or infirm, ok, but if you are able in the least, you should not be sucking off of society." Amen Brother ( I partly say this as to Trunk's thought that this is partly spiritual) vortex UNLESS Rick Perry is The Devil, Maybe the Devil has a checkered past BUT how much do we really know about it? We are little mushrooms , kept in the dark and fed a steady diet of shit.

Charlie, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne were all very unique hurricanes. They foreshadowed the coming of Katrina which in many ways defined our (lack of) resolve. Katrina's profound impact on environment, economy, (due to direct and and indirect) our confidence in the federal government, the levels of looting, violence, police misconduct, the total ineptness of FEMA and Homeland Security, and our lack of compassion or desire to help Fellow Americans in their darkest hour of need. It changed the way that I look at our nation. I have to say that it is a very shameful event in our history. No, mister Twinner, the worse that could happen is not the scenario that you suggest. What will come is an event where the living will envy the dead. We failed the Katrina test miserably. What makes us think we will do any better the next big event?

True Love can only exist without Lust (For Enlightenment)
realfastcat replied to tulku's topic in General Discussion
For me True Love is the love I have for a friend, child, old person, anyone. I actually call it Universal Love. That One True One and Only Love is (for me) a very Abstract Concept that I have never experienced or probably ever will. I have no understanding of a Soul Mate. I do understand Lust. IMO Lust is natures way to get our attention. Maybe Lust is Heaven sent! -
I do a Sunrise Qigong if there are no clouds obscuring the sun. I do gaze into the sun while doing this but only while the sun is red. Once the Sun starts going to white I turn my back to it and do a different Qigong.

Can Taoist alchemy goes open source ?
realfastcat replied to exorcist_1699's topic in General Discussion
Excellent post! Most likely coming from experience? It is good to see this posted here as I was starting to think this forum was just a place for "teachers" to recruit "students". How many Taoist Alchemy teachers are available to the public anyways? My idea is that whatever one is trying to accomplish, it is a matter of , and a combination of "will and skill". If one has sufficient will they will develop the skill. In the case of Taoist Alchemy specifically, (if it does actually exist) What prevents a Spirit Teacher from finding a worthy student? Isn't that also an Open Source? -
ralis, Your post is valid. IMO those points you made are part of the recipie for a big war. "A nation of people where around 50m people have no health insurance and can't afford it creates a burden on everyone!" I also feel that having a nation of so many sick people puts a burden on everyone. People need to take responsibility for their own good health. To expect to visit a doctor and receive a pill that cures a lifetime of bad choices....only continues to feed the system that supports the Elite. What makes Taoism attractive to me is that it shows us how to stay healthy naturally. I also like MA especially IMA because I also take responsibility for my own defence. If I am the target of a Mugger I do not expect a Cop to magically arrive on the scene at the nick of time. Dependence(cradle to grave) is a bad and fatal habit. A Warfare state is disasterous. A welfare state is equally disasterous.

BUMP This post from Exorcist_1699 today. For example, without having successfully initialized embryonic breathing, there is no way of claiming any success in doing the micro-cosmic circulation; in fact, many people are just circulating the qi in the channels but claim themselves doing the circulation ... The point is, the deeply hidden root of all these qi circulating in our body comes from the invisible gate : Mengmen(the gate of life,"命門") ..without the open of it, saying that by just circulating ordinary qi can make us live forever, of course, is not true.

Any recomended concentration meditation?
realfastcat replied to Everything's topic in General Discussion
I found this to be an excellent post. It actually speaks to the OP. Seems concentration of the breath was what was "debated" instead. I also liked this post. I'm surprised noone has mentioned listening to the inner sound, IME its the quickest way to "ensnare" awareness and completely turn the mind inside out. It is very easy for the mind to become obsorbed in sound. This post has been edited by imonous: 04 September 2011 - 10:30 PM For concentration, I recommend focusing of the flame of a candle. Being aware of it's every flicker, its every movement. Using Friend's guide for reaching goals on the time one can stay focused. -
I find this relevant to this discussion as many masters are interviewed. I almost posted this in the Taoist TV thread instead. For me there is a common universal that is shared by each of these masters. There are some commercials. The content of the film is real life and no BS.

I for one do enjoy your posts. I don't know alot about the histories of this site. It does seem there is alot of attacking going on. That is unfortunate. I try to look past the attacks against other members and focus on the message not the messenger. It is distracting to say the least.

The first step of practicing Internal Elixir Qigong has been known as Microcosmic Meditation. After completing Microcosmic meditaion, a practitioner will learn Grand Circulation or Macrocosmic Meditation. The purpose of Grand Circulation is to re-open the Heaven Eye to unite the natural spirit and human spirit. This is the ultimate goal of spiritual enlightenment in both Taoism and Buddhism.

ffvii, This helped me along my way and it is very easy to understand. http://www.amazon.com/Tao-Meditation-Way-Enlightenment/dp/0804814651 The importance of "the breath" is self-evident. We can go weeks without food, days without water, but only mintues without breath. If we regulate our diet, we can improve our health. If we regulate our breath, not only we can improve our overall well-being, but we can build a strong body that is free of diease and illness. We can also use the breath to calms ourselves, raise our spirit, help us meditate, and reunite ourself with the Tao.

http://ymaa.com/publishing/books/qigong/qigong_the_secret_of_youth http://ymaa.com/publishing/books/qigong/the_root_of_chinese_qigong These have helped me. I would start with the bottom one first. I placed the other one on top because that seemed to be where your interest is. On another thread there is talk of starting a discussion about this one. http://www.amazon.com/Xing-Nei-Gong-Maintenance-Development/dp/0865681740 I cannot agree with the price for this book. Occasionally it can be found for around 20 usd. There is a dvd of Tim Cartmell doing this nei gung set but without any verbal instruction. http://www.sakuramartialarts.com/Martial_Arts_DVD_Videos_Xing_Yi_Nei_Gung_p/VID-8651-A1.htm&click=1 There are many Qigongs or Nei Gongs to choose from. These just came to my mind. Hope it helps. Also there are many older topics on this subject here on The Tao Bums.

My first post(other than my hello). Alot of great insight already shared on this topic. I am unaware of the history of this forum/site. Just a couple of points I wanted to add. If it is our intent we could surely push anyone over the edge. Why would we want to? For each of us there are certain actions that can cause spontaneous emotions (knee jerk). I enter into this forum by good faith. I understand we are all vulnerable. Some have thicker skins than others. Put trust in your fellow bums, moderators, the owners, and yourself. Especially on the www there is social and cultural diversity. There will be personality conflicts and differences in opinions and experience. A disagreement or debate should never be looked at as a personal attack. I have noticed that there has been open calls by members to have other members ousted. I find this behaivor disapointing and I hope it was an isolated incident. Lynch mob menatality comes to mind. We are here to share and exchange ideas freely for the benefit of all, correct? I feel fortunate to have found this site and I look forward to a great experience and learning here. Self Moderation should not be that hard of a thing.

Hello lienshan, Thank you for the welcome. I do not have a ready definition for True Nature. It is my interest to discover. I share your interest of gambling on horse races , mostly for entertainment rather than for profit. April and October ( @ Keeneland )are the months I devote to that.
