Yes, it seems to be an increasing thing. People pointing out where we are wrong. Most often times people have internal issues with things that makes it difficult for them to work through. Sometimes, now it seems rare. Well actually I will say this is extinct now: A person talking about an issue that they have with something without "making" other people wrong. However, most often it is the most colorful of us that make ourselves wrong by pushing for dominance. That has to be just as bad if not equal to making people wrong, is it not?

I am but a fool myself. With my own light I still stumble in the darkness. I am MahÄyÄna, yet not bound by precepts. At times I wished I was.

Non-dualism is more Indic than anything, most stories and examples of non-dualism are Indic. Other religions barely touch upon non-dualism though the Hua Hu Ching (taoist? buddhist?) does. The rest can be found: Here

What about MahÄyÄna? Dwai, I know it is a bit much but could you change the topic to adding a Vedanta and Mahayana subforum?

What about MONKEY?

As you know this was an off color joke regarding "gas chamber" which offended people. What I should have said was "its a limburgher cheese room for Buddhism!" Which I only meant in light hearted jest. SO.... Lets get serious... Maybe we can start by posting known temples in north america.

Maybe it is that I might be able to tune in on what Everything is saying... Maybe its the same vibration I am somewhat confident that Everything is not talking about getting gratification or happiness dependant upon others.

I have read the article and it gives the impression that trolling is entirely what the article entails. Loosely the definition means "Posting to trigger a specific response." More generally a veteran on a forum may post on an old topic to get a response from newer memebers either for humor. This article only covers Cyberbullying, defamation and desecration of sensitive sites for dead loved ones. What you are talking about is CYBERBULLYING. There are aspects of trolling that overlap like getting on somone's youtube page and posting the common one word "f@g". That is also more cyberbullying than actually trolling. Compare: Trolling Cyberbullying

Yes. Maybe with some momentum eventually life will change. It is just unfortunate that we will have to live with the human cost of others' misteaks.

It is only out of fear that we try to "Peg" or "Define" others or when others try to do the same to us. At least our defects remind us we are human -

I was going to say something, yet changed it because I believe the responses were really trying to be helpful yet my response could have been misteaken. I decided to keep the cute kitten up though. -
*scratches chin* Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii... just dont know. Might be pair o' docs Buddhism. A question is a question. A question asked for ones own purpose is just like good deeds for ones own gain. We may have a purpose, often the universe has another. Peace friends.

Do we require guidance to reach enlightenment?

Everyone is giving great examples here. However, how do you know what is defined as "the dark night of the soul" or "the dark tea time of the soul"? I could interject with my conclusion that a person is on the wrong path. To make that last sentance understandable... Ones Emotions, Mind and Spirit are wanting and doing separate things. Background feelings and disappointments are comming to bear on the current life so one must change. One must find out what skills and things one has... their deck of playing cards so to speak and play them with all three in harmony. That is how you overcome the dark tea time of the soul.

Do we require guidance to reach enlightenment?
Ambrose_Bierce replied to Aaron's topic in General Discussion
A long time ago I would have asked proof or examples of this. My conclusion is that everyone is not aware of everything. So, my friend I must try to "tweak" these ideas a bit. We depend upon others for what we do not see. Only in this respect are they teachers. Windows to our own mind and condition, and sometimes even seeing things we do not. In turn there arwe things we may show sensitivity to that they do not. It is my opinion that these things that others are aware of are not in existence of purely sense or of mind. They are beyond these mundane concepts. Someone may be sensitive to peoples feelings. Another may be sensitive to electronic equipment. Nothing is wrong, everything is different. -
Well Mal, The history I do know quite a bit about! I have been told it was all memorized. Until this last century it was written in english. There may have been other written texts, just not in english. There are still things in Buddhism that are only taught orally. Some of the teachings are things people are not ready for. Here on the forum you read many things. One of the things not taught, is when we think we are awake, we are really asleep. When we are asleep, our judgements, opinions fall off so to speak and we live in a state of oneness. Things easily manifest from that state thats why its just not divulged. There are other writing that have made mainstream that carry similar ideas. However I dont think there is any harm in it. People have a hard time understanding that the passion-imagination-intuitive link is more resilient. Compare the thought-judgement-analyse combination. To make the change you have to live with people who understand that. Otherwise people go back to old habits.
