I sense that your father fears for you. Either that or thats a brain deduction. Your father is right however. If you want to go through severe muscle pain and become decrepit early in life you will have to work manual labor. Contrary to popular belief manual is not a person. Sounds bad lol. Yet it is a running gag here... What? I dont see no Manual! If you do have the skill or are aware of your own potential try different things or take some kind of class to find out what field of work suits you the most. That should give you a good direction. If you easily learn things I recommend that you will not be happy with anything just simple. It may be less stress, yet thats just a sign to learn some better coping skills. Searching the forum or google will render a surplus of destressing methods. When your father starts rambling go for a walk or avoid him for a while.

Tricking the library 3 hour limit
Ambrose_Bierce replied to Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan's topic in The Rabbit Hole
If you learn about windows processes you can press Ctrl-Alt-Delete And look under processes to find out the process. Feeling the force I would say: PCRes_client.exe Or something like that. You could try to find out the name of the exe file before you kill the process. This way if you kill the right process, you know where the program is and you can run it before you get off the computer. You could try looking under My computer on the c:\ drive. I would take a look at the root directory first (c:\) then, Definately check C:\Program Files\ for any program names that might be the reservation client file. If you search for the program on the hard drive first you can find out which process to kill specifically on task manager. Technically, you are not gaining access to anything you did not have access to before (hence not hacking). If you need tools I have tools and would be happy to assist you. You could begin carrying a Jump Drive, they make them cheap now. There are many portable apps now that dont require installation and can help: http://portableapps.com/ If you deal with a lot of passwords, I have something that can help with that, encrypt your passwords and then all you have to do is type the main password. Very easy saves a lot of time logging in. -

Any time you see a very crazy post, there is a good chance that it is him. Also, he may have been into fighting and arguing yet it wasnt because he was upset. He simply liked to get to people. That could be called trolling, but he called it funny. -

He is actually a very high level practitioner who is a jokester of sorts. This is why he deliberately writes like that. RJ was just a nickname but it stuck. -

The Great Big Illustrious Consumerism, Entitlement and Elitism Thread.
Ambrose_Bierce posted a topic in General Discussion
Is Entitlement or False Need the current problem? After considering words said to me regarding people who have a sense of Entitlement. As well as a specific situation on the forum. It is my question that these feelings most likely need to be processed. One of the more interesting pages I found was: Why do we want things we don't need? - Yahoo Answers So, as I have done quite a bit of research on this subject many people say: "Oh, that is SO WRONG! They feel ENTITLED to things!" After doing research on Entitlement this is what I found: This didn't really explain the entire thing. There are rich people who like me came into money... Yes we did not earn it yet unlike myself wanted more. So to say that it is a liberal concept is ELITIST. Now I am not defending liberals, this is plain common sense: So Elitism tended to explain more of the situation. We seem to have strung up society quite nicely it seems. So, maybe the problem is not really specific things like False Need, Entitlement or Greed. Maybe the problem is people themselves and their ability to get along amicably? So are the liberal baby boomers to blame? I say no. Is it general elitism? I say no to that as well. What about mass marketing things we dont need? maybe not. Is it companies that are causing economic problems due to entitlement? Here is a snippet from my report on understanding current business finance: In general all of these things are actually current factors in the problem. Until it is solved it wont just "Go away". Perhaps the underlying problem itself is truely Greed? Maybe it is a Spiritual problem? -

I see people are still misleading each other on Buddhism
Ambrose_Bierce replied to RongzomFan's topic in Buddhist Discussion
*Whistles* Keep in mind what I say next is not my personal opinion: I have found that occasionally in the verbal Buddhist community, TheTaoBums is actually looked on with albeit humorous jest. If I were to say which individuals have said this it wouldnt do any good. In future-spect, what I just said now will not help the community. Why do I say this? Because when peoples views and gossip are brought into the light it makes everyone nervous. So then why would I make everyone nervous? Am I doing it to be selfish? No. Am I doing it to show the disfavor the bums have with the Buddhist community in general? No. So why did I say this? My conclusion: Forums are good for armchair hypothesis, for small pieces of information and idle talk. In general forums tend to be only as good as the experience of the people of the forum. If we have 100 people who just read a book on hardcore tao and are ready to preach then we face the problematique. So, I am just saying take time out to do personal research. Maybe you wont be disgruntled about others views and in some respect we do need fun and joy in our lives to keep us balanced. Much less you wont be so concerned about x number of people being wrong on a forum that you might never really meet though they are still nice people. Time for some me time. -
Notre Dame Stadium Evacuated due to Thunderstorm?

Okay so the media says and here is one vendor: Rivals.com So, now I wonder: Why dont *I* get to see those things flying around during inclement weather at a game? Watch for yourself, and see how it changes direction. Better yet, the air flow in isolated thunderstorms and thunderstorm cells are distinct at different altitudes. This doesnt look like something caught in air current. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8tqCne_B20 -
I was inspired to write the following: While shining my light into the dark depths. A few came and called to me. Some of them were of the light. A few that were from the darkness also came to call. From the recesses of this electric haven I saw those willing to argue for its own sake Forgetting the light in search of proving ones glory Ever forgetting the danger of superiority. I begged and pleaded with those of the light To give place to the darkness. Those not yet seeing the futility of dark actions. I saw some point out what was thought to be error. Terror it seems can run deep Especially so for those who peek At the darkness found within Forgetting the path is from within. To climb is to encounter the obstacles of the dark To see oneself in greater light is to remember the climb For each one can have a wheel an an axe to grind Grinding only bids us farewell to the light To bring peace to those who try It is perilous to always be in the state of brighter light. As we climb there will always be those seeking fault Out of jealousy or ignorance we can seek our own self importance. To be on the path is to be mindful of the light and the dark The truth holds peril through disparaging the dark The dark that threatens to keep us from the light. The climb offers no glory, no recognition only light. To seek glory is to seek death Though death and glory are a fools prize. In a heartbeat we are cut down to size. Realizing that the dark bids welcome to easily. The cold embrace, to forget what we are We deny the existence of things we sometimes disagree with Bringing us to lose the awareness of what is through denial Bringing us to the silty only heavy fertile black sludge of the nile. The black once being holy, only crys now for moley. Seeking virtue only of what we know as good When good exists in everything To reach this point we leave the state of denial and reach one of peace. Everything is holy until we make it unholy The words we use only riddled with our want and deceit threaten Our own holyness for the sake of what we deem right To make us a spectacle for those who have eyes that can see The blind will always suffer in secrecy The light and the dark is the omen of what lies submerged forgetting all that is It remains untouched within us. Feminism isnt womens rights. Its the attempt to emasculate men. Last time I check all men don't do something unless we are asked. Go to our little caves when stressed to clear our minds. Are not as aware of little aspects (unless you are psychic) like women are. Edit: Intentions are hard to prove with words alone. Let my words only be fodder for banthas. -
showing grief did not bother me then, its been a couple of decades. After a while i just expected being called worthless and being beaten. In fact to elaborate i didnt fear it because i expected it. Usually i would get a few in anyway. Against a father who is numbed by alcohol it didnt do a bit of good. I did not get PTSD from that experience. Back then I operated at a lower level and if I took offense I settled it by taking it out on the next unsuspecting target. I guess the only thing I can say to console you Informer is that it wasnt our fault. At least you didnt spend your time the past 2 decades trying NOT to be a monster

Don't get me wrong you guys go a great job. I cant help but wonder if we had some more specific rules maybe it might help? I notice that moderation is taken based upon the number of people that take offense. That might be great for the many. However its apples and oranges. Someone talks about apples, someone says they dont like apples, get offended and moderation occurs. This is not a recipe for fairness. It only insures that whoever's view is the majority at the time is in control. I am not saying equality as in communism. I simply say that everyone should have the same rules that apply to them not some unseen weapon in the dark to be unleashed upon enemies when they step out of line. Or is that what everyone really wants?

I understand. My father would beat me within an inch of my life. I dont share that. I do empathize. After a while though the fear went away. I don't care to share my experience but it wasn't due to physical abuse.
-
We are just trying to be empathetic. I had a friend whos mother would wake him up to a gun to his head everyday. If you havnt been in a combat situation or the like, how would you cope?

Notre Dame Stadium Evacuated due to Thunderstorm?
Ambrose_Bierce replied to Ambrose_Bierce's topic in General Discussion
Denial of anything. The most complicated part about being spiritual is to be able to understand or comprehend that there are many possibilities. When we deny we shut ourselves off from understanding. The other effect is that it can shut part of our energy, or in more mundane terms our feelings down. The end result is aches and pressures which our nerves become used to and become chronic pain due to shutting off our emotions. We cant shut them off but we can try to ride it out and to accept what we feel and how we feel. -
ralis is right. Speaking from my own PTSD it takes time to learn to trust and feel comfortable in ones own environment. It can take decades depending upon the experiences and how one copes. I wouldnt ask someone how they coped with PTSD because the flashbacks can put someone back in that state.

Denial is what happens when the mind believes it is in control.
