This will probably start a debate, but in this context "light" means... "is the visible aspect of energy, energy still in a phase prior to its assuming any specific form" Chogyal Namkai Norbu It can also be described as percieving the pre-intent (gap) to a thought. (But, this is a non-Dzogchen description).

Think i just used my last like on this one above...

Ok, Batman. Have a good evening.

Looks more like you lost your smile...

Sorry, I should have given you the full quote to put it in full context, but I had to type it by hand. In that paragraph, he is describes.. "The Tantras are teachings based on the knowledge and application of energy. Their origin is not to be found in the oral teachings of a master,..." It is from "Dzogchen: The Self-Perfected State" by CNN. It is an excellent overview book on Dzogchen. As to externally or meditation... with a calm mind... Is there a difference...?
-
You like to say that a lot...
-
Hi Ish, CNN speaks directly on this point... "To receive this type of transmission, it is therefore necessary to have the capacity to perceive the subtle dimension of light."
-
Not me. I am a fan of liking things. That is why I smile... Enjoy the day.
-
Do you believe that is because one may not have the necessary clarity of mind to "receive" the transmissions of Atiyoga?

This thread looks like a good place to waste my limited likes...

Makes sense. Thanks.

Very interesting (and good) point regarding the winds, but I would argue that it is only like first finding the "gap" between thoughts. An actual experience, but not "enlightenment". (p.s. Was he even breathing...? )

Thanks for Malcolm's excellent post. Do either of you know why he stopped posting on Dharmawheel? He is missed.

Very interesting. Do you have the ability to remotely "sense" such things (as in Jim's case)?

Hi TI, Good to hear from you. I hope you are well. I was just sharing my experience that I thought might be helpful for others. Just our old debate of whether to focus on the mind or on to the heart. Below are a couple of quotes that I thought might also be helpful for some... From the Dhammapada (The Seeker) Do not be restless. Meditate constantly. Or you will swallow fire And cry out: "No more!" If you are not wise, How can you steady the mind? If you cannot quieten yourself, What will you ever learn? How will you become free? With a quiet mind Come into that empty house, your heart, And feel the joy of the way Beyond the world. Also, since you have expressed some interest in Buddhist/Dzogchen teachings... From the Vairo Drabag (Dzogchen Semde lineage) as described by Chogyal Namkai Norbu in the "The Supreme Source: The Fundamental Tantra of the Dzogchen Semde. (Section 8) "Khenpo Rabnang summarized their entirety fo him thus: The nature of mind is enlightened from the beginning, There is nothing else on which to meditate. Yet, one cannot understand this "object of meditation" with the intellect; Meditating means not being distracted from the nature of mind! Then Maharaja, the khenpo of Oddiyan, perfectly understood the meaning of the primordial state and expressed his realization thus: I am Maharaja! Meditating on mind, I have transcended the object of meditation. Scrutinizing the mind, one sees nothing. But precisely perceiving this "nothing to see" is "seeing". Meditating means not being distracted from the meaning of "nothing to see"! " Peace.

If someone could freeze time and "modify" matter, why would they bother being a soldier...

Hi Adept, Seeing things like stars in meditation is a product of the mind. In my experience, often as one goes deeper in meditation (or consciousness), you may go "deeper" than your energy/mind is able to support. When that happens, you experience "nothing" and sometimes you may even "cease". If you reside/stay at that level, your mind(and energy) will eventually "catch up" and your mind will begin to "translate" the energy into things like light (and other cool stuff). If you are feeling "peace", I would suggest that you follow your heart and continue your practices. It sounds like you are doing a good job of continually diving "deeper" into yourself/consciousness. Trust your "heart" and don't be afraid to leave your "mind" in the dust (or using other terms - surrender).

Similarities of practices between Sufism & Gnostic Christianity
Jeff replied to Jeff's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Interesting thought. I think of it more like the organized church as the "outer form" of Christianity. All traditions have outer and inner meanings/understandings. Very hard to keep any tradition consistent over a period of 2000 years. At it's most basic level, all of Christianity teaches love and surrender. You can never go wrong starting with a path like that. -
How to unblock stuck energy channels in the chest and throat area?
Jeff replied to Audiohealing's topic in General Discussion
Agreed. Energy does not really get stuck in the heart or tissue. Energy gets "stuck" or caught up in issues/obstructions. As clarity grows, energy flows freely... (p.s. we are also the energy itself...) -
Similarities of practices between Sufism & Gnostic Christianity
Jeff replied to Jeff's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
In ancient texts the Holy Spirit as word was feminine. The concept is very similar to Shiva/Shatki in the Hindu tradition. A Daoist master feels the female principle (Holy Spirit) in everything. Just different words (cultures) pointing in the same direction. -

Completely agree. I think it should have been included in the New Testement. -

"Gnosis of a cosmic Christ" is an excellent book. His approach at the advanced levels is basically the same as Dzogchen. You may find it helpful to spend a little time with some Dzogchen texts/books. Primordial is primordial. -
World View - What is the Reality we live in?
Jeff replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
There is definitely a lot out (or in) there. Just depend how deep you look.
