Similarities of practices between Sufism & Gnostic Christianity
Jeff replied to Jeff's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Below is a very good site. Just be prepared to spend some time translating the nomenclature into more common/simple terms. Their Tau (teacher) has written some good books and is very responsive to questions. http://www.sophian.org/ -
Similarities of practices between Sufism & Gnostic Christianity
Jeff replied to Jeff's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
That has been my experience also. Most Christian mystical texts talk about seven lights or candles (chakras) in the body. Some traditions describe an 8th, but going into the details it is described as the integration or merging of the seven. There was also originally seven churches. Rome broke off and the remaining six continued as the Orthodox (Greek) Christianity. The four "types" of energy/light could be described as: Body Mind/astral Cosmic/spiritual Primordial -
Similarities of practices between Sufism & Gnostic Christianity
Jeff replied to Jeff's topic in Esoteric and Occult Discussion
Continuing from another thread... In Gnostic Christianity (not "institutionalized" Christianity)... God is everything... The Holy Spirit is God in creation (existence). Energy practices are also only in the inner circles of Gnostic Christianity, the outer circles focus on ritual and form that lead to greater silence. As in meditation, the key is to learn to quiet the mind, before one can "feel" the power of the Holy Spirit. In my experience with Gnostic Christianity, there are four major types of "energy"? How about Sufism (anyone know)? (edit - forgot the smile) -
How to unblock stuck energy channels in the chest and throat area?
Jeff replied to Audiohealing's topic in General Discussion
In my experience, being present in the body is always a good practice. Depending on the layer of the body-mind you are working on, obstructions are often unconscious fears and issues that are stored in the energy body. Release (let go of) the issue and energy flows freely. The "ego" is a collection of energy obstructions (issues/fears) to the flow. Let them go and you are one with Tao. -
How to unblock stuck energy channels in the chest and throat area?
Jeff replied to Audiohealing's topic in General Discussion
Blockages in the heart and chest are often tied to unresolved emotional issues. Often things like feeling unloved or anger over past issues need to be let go. Energy practices alone only get you so far. -
Which Buddhist schools did Shankara disagree with in the Brahma Sutras & why?
Jeff replied to stefos's topic in General Discussion
Hi Stefos, "Heartdrops of the Dharmakaya" is a good book and your choice of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu (CNN) is a gifted teacher. I would recommend that you read his "Dzogchen: The Self-Perfected State". It is an excellent overview of Dzogchen. Specifically regarding tantra (or energy practices), CNN says... "In Dzogchen, too, various methods of energy are practiced, but these are not based on the activity of the mind." CNN often uses the term βvoiceβ in describing energy and energy practices. Also, "transmissions" are advanced energy practices. Best wishes on your path. -
Definitely will be missed.

Desire is a primal energy (a potential). All of creation wants to grow and expand. A simple seed is full of desire, but it does not know what it will become (or care). Obsession is an attachment that takes one out of the moment. No one who obsesses on enlightenment ever becomes enlightened. Surrender to (and in) the moment.
-
In your thoughts floating by... Is there a difference between obsession and desire? One needs something to obsess about, but what about desire... Can desire be about potential?
-
Attached (or obsessed) to the outcome...? Enjoy the moment.

Everything is better once you have turned 50.

Hi Dreambliss, Do you think all of "reality" is a collective manifestation? Or, are we also just your Tulpa's, created by the One/Tao?
-
No, my apologies. I was and I thank you for pointing it out.

How would you consider Togel as "not Tantric"? Also, do you practice Togel? -
Looks somewhat similar to some voodoo practics, but definitely not the same as what Seth & I were talking about. What we were discussing is sometimes called "Divinity/Guru yoga. At it's highest level, it is a union/merging with a divine being. In Tibetian Buddhism, it is practiced as part of the "completion stage".

I have not found anything from a Taoist perspective either, which is surprising to me. It is incredibly valuable in most primordial (light) paths (like Dzogchen, gnostic Christian, etc...) and can make a huge difference in access to various "higher" energies. Could it be that some Taoist traditions do something similar in channeling as a medium?

Finally, back from my board meeting and unsurprisingly it looks like I have not missed anything in 5 pages of posting... Have a good one.

While I sometimes disagree, I have always found your positions to be logically consistent. Some just have difficulty with differing perspectives. Enjoy the day. (Painful board meeting for me).

Isn't that the point... One can not circumscribe the self... Or for this forum... The Tao that can be spoken of is not the Tao.

Interesting point. The original greek versions (w/new testament) use something like 18,000 different words. Average english version uses about 6,000 different words. Something being lost...?

Which of these authors is properly teaching meditation?

Or, do everything being present... -
Hi Lucky7strikes, Thank you for your thoughtful response. I do not practice Kunlun, but I do practice something very similar. I know what you mean by the energy "shaking" issues/obstructions loose. It is very impressive that you can let them go when they come up, many try to just avoid them and "hide" in deeper levels of consciousness. By different types of energy, I meant that different types of obstructions/issues resonate with different types (or frequency ranges) of energy/light. Different paths (or cultures) describe the energies (or winds) in various ways. Finally, I know what you mean about the impact of "awareness-juice". My question about entering/bubble relates whether you had formed a "guru" connection to Sadhguru. Your statement of "He was just there to nudge me and be a guardian to keep out the nonsense outside of spiritual work." answers my question. Thanks again and enjoy the day.

Hi Templetao, Thank you again for sharing in your posts. Have you found "connecting/union" with immortals helpful with ascension thru inner power?
