You are NOT qualified to critique a Spiritual Tradition if...

Again, that is just big difference between the views... In KS, there is no such thing as separate dreaming that one wakes up from, it is all one big conscious integration. From the Shiva Sutras... 3.20. triṣu caturthaṁ tailavadāsecyam The fourth state (turya) must be expanded like oil so that it pervades the other three: waking, dreaming and deep sleep. 2.9. jñānamannam (For such a yogī) differentiated perception is his food, or knowledge of his own nature is his food. 1.11. tritayabhoktā vīreśaḥ The one who enjoys the oneness of the three states, waking, dreaming and deep sleep in turīya becomes the master of all organic energies. -

Depending on one's view, these are all hugely different points. First, one has to know/decide if there really are other (separate) sentient beings. If there are not, then there is no point in ever trying to help them as it is all just a movie/dream. Second, is even if there are other sentient beings, is it possible to even help them, or is everyone just alone trapped in their own karmic path. To me, these two simple questions ultimately define the view and subsequent potential realization of the underlying tradition. -

In KS, wearing the universe would be a very small Siva suit, and not fully Siva. But, to your more general point, it is really about compassion and the ability to help others. If one is wearing the universe (only), then one is not able to hug and share with another person (or soul). With such realized differentiation of being, the ability to help others is vastly greater. This is why Ahbinagupta talks about "conscious" realization. -

That is just the thing, in KS in does also stand as part of That. That was what Siva was trying to point out in the other thread. Also, I have practiced the teachings and are directly familiar with them. My versions of them are somewhat different as my view is different, and hence the outcome of the practice itself becomes different. Or you could say in my view, there is not just ultimately one view... -

I realize what you are describing is the AV view, but as my quote points out, it is different in KS. What you are describing, would be somehow getting caught up in and dropping to a lower tattva. As the quote states, it is having access to all layers, but not bound by them, so no problem with also the direct knowing. It is more like you being your entire body, but still being able to know/differentiate your fingernail. The difference between the two views is most easily seen in the respective concepts of various energy bodies/planes. In AV you have... Physical > energy/subtle > casual > Jiva/Atman In KS (and the teachings of Ahbinagupta) you have the concept of another level/layer of being, that is what the higher tattvas are talking about. It instead goes... Physical > energy/subtle > casual > divine (Jiva going to Siva) > ParamaSiva That Jiva going to Siva layer (or light level) is similar the the concept of the birth of a the golden child (going immortal) in taoism. Mystical christianity would describe it sort of like the difference between realizing the soul and then expanding to become a true son of God. Additionally, the three different approaches in the Shiva Sutras are set up as the descriptions/methods depending on your starting point of being at the casual (1st section), energy/subtle(2nd section), and physical (3rd section). I am not trying to say that one approach is better or more correct (as I am not an AV or KS practioner), but the frameworks and concepts are different. KS itself in both timing (around 1,000 AD) and realization concept is more like how Dzogchen changed buddhist concepts with adding the additional bhumis and the realization of the rainbow body. -

I would agree that all such helping is "two-way". But, it is also possible to sometimes kind of get stuck in a more energetically receptive mode with it. And some of the stuff can subconsciously resonate with your own deeper subconscious issues, and sort of stick with you.

Sure, but it is not being “something”, it is more like being all and with it comes the direct knowing. The KS view from the Secret Supreme... Now in the final two tattvas, we come to subjectivity in its purest form. These two tattvas are the interdependent tattvas: sakti tattva and siva tattva. The impression which comes in these two tattvas is only I, the pure I, the universal I. It is not "this universe is my own expansion" or "I am this whole uni- verse." No, it is just I, pure I, universal I. Last is that Being which does not come in the cycle of tattvas that Being called Parama Siva. Parama Siva is not only found in siva tattva or in sakti tattva. It is not only here, not only there. You will find It everywhere. You will find It from the lowest tattva to the highest. It is all levels, and therefore no level. It is everywhere, that is why It is nowhere. The one Being who is everywhere, It is nowhere. -

Wow. The insults to a tradition, a member, and his beliefs just keep coming... -
Thanks for the post. Could you post where you got the quote?

It is also a fact that Shaivites do not aim to acquire a magical state or siddhis. In Shaivism, the universe itself is seen to be the aggregate of Shakti (energy), and with that true realization, one becomes the lord of the wheel. 3.3. kalādīnāṁ tattvānāmaviveko māyā Being unable to possess the undifferentiated knowledge of the thirty-one elements, you live in those elements, from kalā to pṛithvī (earth), which are the expansion of the energy of illusion (māyā śakti). -Shiva Sutras

The difference is found in the concept of conscious realization and the associated integration (and differentiation) that comes with the realization. Abhinavagupta clearly states... "True, but even though it shines there, it has not truly become a conscious apprehension. Without conscious apprehension, even if a thing exists, it is as if it did not exist..." He goes on to say... "The question is thus appropriate because contentment (enlightenment) is not possible without a conscious realization. Contentment is of two kinds. The first is effected by means of absorption (samavesa) and consists of magical powers. The second is attained by reaching a condition of conscious heart-felt realization, and it is the state of being liberated while still alive." With the conscious realization and intergation one is not lost (or a wave) in Shiva, but instead fully imbodies all of Shiva (and hence the “magical powers” part).

Yes, the KS view on realization is very different. From The Secrete Supreme... Up to this point, I have explained twenty-five tattvas; five mahabhutas, five tanmatras, five karmendriyas, five jnanen-driyas, three antahkaranas, prakriti, and purusa. This is the limit of the Vedantin's understanding of the tattvas. They say that there are only twenty-five tattvas. Yet in Saivism, nothing as yet has happened. All these tattvas exist in the field of maya, in the field of objectivity. In Saivism, purusa is not a realized soul. Purusa tattva is bound and limited just as ahamkara tattva is.

I think one of the big differences between AV (and other Hindu views) with KS is found in the Shiva Sutras relative to “result”. 3-26 śivatulyo jāyate He becomes like Shiva.

Yes, agreed. Or as Abhinavagupta says... The nature of such a consciousness is its capacity for self-referral, and because of that, there always arises a spontaneous sound (dhvani) which is termed the supreme, the great Heart. That self-consciousness in the Heart in which the entire universe without remainder is dissolved, present at the beginning and at the end of perception of objects, is called in the authoritative texts the vibration (spanda), and more precisely, the universal vibration, and its nature is an overflowing in the Self. For that vibration, which is a slight motion of a special kind, a unique vibrating light, is the wave of the ocean of consciousness, without which there is no consciousness at all. For the character of the ocean is that it sometimes filled with waves and sometimes waveless. This conciseness is the essence of all. And this difference is vast as the analogy of simply being a wave in the ocean, is known to be incorrect...Not just a wave, but the ocean itself... "He who by means of this teaching perceives on all sides the universe like a mass of foam in the midst of the ambrosial ocean of consciousness, he is declared to be the one Siva Himself"

Blasphemy in this context is sort of any form of disrespect or trying to go against. Sort of like saying dont mess with or disrespect (or fight against) the will of God in the world. In broader terms, Blasphemy is the conscious decision and action to do something like that, with such a conscious action one creates a energetic block to the natural flow. The Tao Te Ching describes it from the opposite side of needing to let go and surrender, as those who drop all of their individual ego stuff with their mental judgements, are the ones who are nourished by the great mother. TWENTY Give up learning, and put an end to your troubles. Is there a difference between yes and no? Is there a difference between good and evil? Must I fear what others fear? What nonsense! Other people are contented, enjoying the sacrificial feast of the ox. In spring some go to the park and climb the terrace, But I alone am drifting, not knowing where I am. Like a newborn babe before it learns to smile, I am alone, without a place to go. Others have more than they need, but I alone have nothing. I am a fool. Oh, yes! I am confused. Others are clear and bright, But I alone am dim and weak. Others are sharp and clever, But I alone am dull and stupid. Oh, I drift like the waves of the sea, Without direction, like the restless wind. Everyone else is busy, But I alone am aimless and without desire. I am different. I am nourished by the great mother. So it is basically, go with the flow and you are nourished, fight it/blasphemy against it and you further build up karmic crap and block your own natural energy flow.

Then there should not be any major issue. Just noticed you had laughed at a comment about Parvati porn earlier. It is important because, you are energetically at the point where you have the beginning potential to make such a connection, but not far enough along where it is an easy or sure thing. Maybe think of it like your heart is somewhat open, but you are not yet actually transmitting energy beyond your local body mind. While such a goddess is not really “offended”, subconscious ego stuff and mental disbelief will create resistance/barriers to such activities or higher connections with broader energy flows. Jesus describes this goddess/Shakti energy dynamic like this.. 44. Jesus said, "Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either on earth or in heaven." It is also important to understand that is not about sexual fantasy (or porn), it is about moving (sexual) desire energy to a higher level, and clearing out the underlying issues that manifest as the desire.

Feel free to research it if you are interested. My suggestion is that you look at comparing the Shakti tattva (35th) realization with the Valley of the Universe (primal mother) realization.
-
I am only saying that they are similar concepts, not that they are the same "thing". No point in trying to map frameworks and relative terms to each other. Let each stand on it's own. But, energy dynamics are energy dynamics, no matter what words and frameworks you try to use to describe them. And in Taoism, I would clearly agree with chapter 6 of the TTC. Find the primal mother's gateway, and definitely use it; for it really does work every time.
-
Clear about what? My statement above about Shakti being the controlling energy dynamic?
-
The "primal mother" in Taoism is a similar concept to Shakti in Kashmir Shaivism. The "gateway" is the connection. Hard to find, but when found and used, it will never fail.

Here is same point from a Dzogchen/Buddhist perspective... Lady Tsogyal asked Master Padma: With which virtues is the inner way of taking refuge endowed? ... By taking refuge in the dakini, you will be protected from obstacles and evil spirits. The impediment of the poverty of hungry ghosts is cleared away, the accumulation of detachment and freedom from clinging will be perfected, and the accomplishment of the sambhogakaya of great bliss will be attained. -padmasambhava guru Rinpoche. Dakini Teachings

The dynamic is different with a male Deity. That would be more like classical guru yoga, and requires a more advanced energetic basis. But, it is possible too.. Abhinavagupta states... "He attains the potency of the mantra whose nature is the Heart because if the efficacy of the method of worship, either by himself, because of his own superiority and difference, or because of the lotus flower of the clear and gracious speech of the lord guru. This is state of liberation while still alive." Also, it is about the "adoration", and not the specific form or object of practice... "These same divinities are likewise to be worshipped and "practiced" in one's own body. By whatever object of practice, whether it be the appeased form which is to be obtained by means of the consciousness in the Heart, one obtains Siva in his quiescent, appeased condition like an ocean without waves."
