Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential
Jeff replied to C T's topic in Buddhist Textual Studies
To me, it is having a “favorite” teacup (or an attachment to it), not a problem with having a teacup in general. More like my earlier example of loving just one person as compared to more universal love. -
Seeing, Recognising & Maintaining One's Enlightening Potential

Even a Buddha has a “desire” to help sentient beings realize (even embedded in the vow). Just doesn’t wory about (get attached) it if it takes a long, long time for us mortal types. -

I think you raise some really good points. For me, abandoning the origin of suffering, is more about simply dropping the attachment aspect of it. Sure, pursue a goal, have fun with it, just don’t get attached to the outcome. If you get the pony, fine, if not, oh well, equally fine. A flower has a “desire” to grow into the sun, but is not attached to the outcome. Growing and expansion is natural, getting attached to aspects of that growth is where the suffering comes in. -

It is not the desire itself that keeps the endless loop going, it is the “attachment” of that desire (energy) to specific things that keeps it going. The difference can be seen with comparing individual Love (and attachment to that person) and more universal love for all. There is no suffering in Love itself, but in the specific attachment of it. A flower just grows, it is not attached to the direction of the sun. Similarity, at higher levels of clarity people start to talk about more “oneness with all” as individual attachments drop. -

It is the thrill of the hunt itself, more than the actual success, that drives the process of desire. A good example can be found in putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Is it more fun to find all of the pieces and put it together (even though it may frustrate you), or see the completed picture of the puzzle? -
If you check out the other thread that spun off from this one, you will see that things like astral travel are found at level 6. Astral travel is possible when one has started to consciously notice aspects of universal mind.
-
Probably better to ask Wizz or someone else, as I am not an astral traveler or astral type person. Though I have many friends that are super good at it and they get and see really cool stuff.
-
That is very much not the case. And a totally unfair statement.

I am saying that once one has realized the “light level” or light body. They know that physical death of the body is not really that important or a big deal. Upon light level realization (and ongoing expansion), having another physical form becomes sort of like a choice. Some move on to other realms, some stick around to help, some do not manifest at physical for a while. The difference is in both method and terms of description. What the group does is not exactly the same as astral travel, but the results create the same sort of affect. Kind of like trying to comparing flying somewhere to teleporting. But all seeing stuff happens at astral levels. Maybe a better analogy is using warp engines to get somewhere, but need conventual engines to visit the place.

Wow. I guess that it would seem that you really can't see it...

Definitely does seem to be one... I am going to put it to you, CT, that you are being insulting to Siva when you call him "fanboy-ish" and "even foolish". And then go on to even insult him even more by calling him "so disempowered". While then needing to also insult Jonesboy with your "ignorant rants" comment. These types of statements seem to perpetuate the view of your "one-sidedness". But, seasoned practitioners who are actually interested can make there own informed decisions.

Thanks for the link...

I would say the answer directly relates to the level that one resides, so there is not really a "light group" answer. For me personally, I would agree with the Tao Te Ching. Heaven and Earth can be cruel, but there is a natural order or flow. Or you could say, that the bug has its own flow. Saving the physical life of the bug, may not be helpful in the greater scheme of things.

By weak I just meant a subset that is no way near the same as what one might call the "soul" or what some could call the "light body"? Astral stuff is fun and cool, if people want to focus on that fine. Maybe first of all think of it more like the "light group" as a network, rather than just one person. And each person who becomes "stabilized" besides being part of the broader network, also creates their own local network. Hence, your concern/question is reasonable, but superseded by ongoing growth in the number of connection points. To your other questions, it may be more an issue related to terms or meaning of "astral body". If one believes there really is such a thing as "death", then yes that is probably what I would an astral (or energy) body. But, one who has realized something like a light body, knows that there is really no such thing as death. Specifically, in my case, I have access to all of my past (and future) lives, hence such concerns are completely non-existent for me. You have already felt and noticed the energetic difference. On advanced astral skills, people have daily field trips visiting various beings at LU. Feel free to join in. Yes, I think all such exploration is fun and interesting. If one is so inclined, I think they should do what they want. Also, as I tell all of the people who notice/access what we are calling the "light", there are sort of three different ways you can go with it. The choice is totally up to you.

I completely agree with that quote from Jesus, but don't necessarily agree with your concept of the context fitting here. The light/clarity of mind naturally shines through. It cannot be hidden or covered by words. It really is not a big deal. The Dao simply flows...

My post was addressed to Tom and generic in description. You are subconsciously pretty strong energetically and sort of automatically connect to people. When a connection is established, you naturally start transmitting. This creates an energetic loop. With me, you are better able to notice this energy flow and hence you feel stuff. If you remember, we once discussed this in chat when it was causing you concern, and you once allowed me to temporarily dampen/calm that effect for you so that you could notice the change.

Rene, Thank you for your review. But the website itself has nothing to do with what we are discussing. The site is actually owned by some friends who spun off from another site (AYP). If you are interested in these topics, I would suggest that you look at the forum and posts there. Also, the forum itself is pretty quiet. Only recent posts are with an old friend from India who is huge fan of the Lotus Sutra. All of the activity is really in the chatroom. Also, I agree with you regarding words. Too many contexts, too many different meanings. That is why our approach is to directly share. Best, Jeff

Dangerous and baseless are always relative. You need to remember that we do real shit, with real affects. It is not like someone sitting around reading a book or playing visualization games in their own mind. Deep subconscious fears and issues do come up, and are hopefully released (or let go), but sometimes people deep down don't really want to let go of them. In those cases it is better to just be understanding. Do what you can, and just accept that many will not get it. No big deal, everyone realizes stuff in their own way or their own time. While Bindi is incorrect about a lot of stuff, to be fair, to someone like Bindi, I am sort of like "living kundalini". Any interaction at all with me could theoretically affect her. It is not anything that I am doing, but more about what she is doing. She and I have discussed this many times.

Not really cultivate the urges or emotions, more focused on the energy underneath (or driving) them.
-
Tom, I realize and appreciate that that you are trying to defend me (and LU). But let’s please drop this. Posting old threads about Bindi’s statements is not going to be helpful (or healing). I am a big boy and can handle it. Also, I know all of the details and am completely comfortable with all of my actions (or inaction ). Much love to all, Jeff

Feel free to follow up on your question and response here. I will respond. Particularly because it is a very interesting and deep issue that well worth exploring. Also, if you prefer, feel free to start a new thread of your own and I will follow up there.
-
Also, feel free to ask over here if you want. Not a big deal either way.
-
Those complications had absolutely nothing to do with me. I would suggest that you discuss the actual details with her at length, then you will be more qualified to make such comments. As as I said, I reach out when I can help.
-
I would agree. No point in going through the work of trying to save this thread related to the OP. I will simply start a new one describing the various levels that some seem to be interested in. I would like to highlight that i make all such suggestions in open posts for newbies. No backdoor hidden pm messages to those people like some of the members here like to use.

If people have issues, they are very open about it. Part of the issue here is that you have never actually engaged in any form of what you call “light practices”. Never actually participated in any of the activities. Additionally, our energetic interaction has been extremely minimal. This is not true. But, for those that I sense that have some serious issue related to some energetic imbalance, I do periodically reach out. If they are suffering, I offer to first explain their issue. Later, if their is interest, I offer to show them practices/techniques that can help. Bindi - you know that we have had hundreds of pm messages. There is no exclusion.
