My advice is this--dont buy into the cleanses that show pictures of grotesque dark stuff (not poop) that have come out of people while using their brand of cleanse. Or rather, if you do a cleanse and get such a result, realize it is likely not 'toxic buildup' or 'mucoid plaque', but rather an ingredient in the 'cleanse'. Some sites sell pills, or drinks that you take, and they have all kinds of pictures of the crazy stuff that comes out of peoples butts. I have sat in on colon scopes, and believe me, there isnt plaque build up or anything of the such. Doctors give patients some stuff called 'go lightly' and they shit like its going out of style, then the next day their colon is squeeky clean. Now then, I do think a colon cleanse every now and again is good for you, as is not eating one day of the week. Just dont be led astray by the marketing. I think enemas are probably ok, if a bit unnecessary. Increase your dietary intake of fruits and vegetables, melons especially, and consider doing a liquids only diet for 1-3 days and your body will cleanse itself. But, do what you will, just please be safe. I have taken herbal cleansing product before and I think they may very well help your body clean itself out, and you feel better for it.

"... I highly suggest you establish 'worldly foundations' before you give your life away to spiritual growth." I couldn't agree more, Findley!! I plan on continuing to train martial arts daily, emphasizing Iron Palm, which Im about to train for the third time today. I will be accountable. I will blame no other for any perceived shortcomings in my life. I will get up every morning, early, and be prepared for class, clinical, and anything that comes my way. I too will constantly bring my mind back when it strays, being aware of the present. I will do what I know to be right, regardless of the ways of the world. I will however, adhere to the law while at work. I will exercise compassion. I will strive to be the best nursing student, and graduate to become the best Registered Nurse I can be, accepting nothing less than this from myself. I will burn Karma. I will be present, and allow myself to feel others pains, but not attach to it. I plan on taking an online meditation course soon, and I will practice the techniques I learn every day. I will continually break away the limits I impose upon myself, I will in time become nothing that has been constructed, and all that simply is. I will, after graduation next may, use martial arts as the vehicle to teach others, through words, presence, and transmission. I will teach them to rise to the highest self they can. I will, in all of this, unwaveringly continue to pursue abilities with Iron Palm which are legendary or mythic by modern standards. I will reach a point, through my abilities, through my efforts, that will be completely limitless and pure. I will continue to seek out the best teaching. I will read, I will do I will live. And eventually, I will become one with the universe.

Dr. Morris's Secret Smile & Breathing basic KAP 1 (Giri for the Tao Bumbs : ) )
everseeking replied to Vajrasattva's topic in Group Studies
Seriously Findley, I'm beginning to think you are a troll. Nothing more. By the way, I don't want to suck anything of yours. And you definitely suffer from your own logic. How many people have you been able to advance spiritually, or in any other way? You just insult people. There is no logical point to your rants. Literally, you lack deductive reasoning. You seem to believe that everyone is doing it wrong, and you know the right way. Findley, lets do this--lets suppose that this enlightenment you speak of, if we were to agree it is a destination, or an end, or a goal. Map it out on a piece of paper. So we have that. Now, consider all the different people who are trying to advance their consciousness, or seek enlightenment, or see the true nature and true self. These seekers are not all the same distance from the place of enlightenment. Some are closer, some, and many may very well be approaching from a path that is 90 or even 180 degrees apart, if you place enlightenment in the center of the page. We all have to start somewhere, from wherever we are. And with methods appropriate for each of us. THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PATH! BUT THE CLOSER TO THE GOAL, THE MORE THEY ARE THE SAME. As for me associating genuine Taoism with asceticism, not even close. I associate YOU with asceticism, as you seem to think that any emotional experience we cling to is contrary to 'the path'. Well, YOU are definitely not the embodiment of genuine Taoism. But I would not be surprised if you told that you think you are. You aren't an authority on reaching enlightenment. You may be well versed in text, but to quote a few past cultivators-- "The Tao that can be named is not the true Tao." Also, "Even truth is to be relinquished, to say nothing of untruth" Without direct experience, what good are your words? I hope you find a good teacher, and maybe a psychologist--And I hope you are able to free yourself from your ego, it must be painful to grip so tightly to your preconceptions. -
Dr. Morris's Secret Smile & Breathing basic KAP 1 (Giri for the Tao Bumbs : ) )
everseeking replied to Vajrasattva's topic in Group Studies
LOOK, findley, I'll spell it out for you-because you can't be expected to 'get it' on your own. You make me laugh. From what I can tell, you are so wrapped up in your own ego, preconceptions, and ideas of what YOU think is the Way, or the meaning behind some text, that you completely miss the point that many others have stated. I have nothing to do with KAP, etc., other than that I plan on signing up. I'm representing only myself here. From what I understand, 'Secret Smile' is done because Kundalini, when aroused, can be scary shit. RE: Gopi Krishna. The 'Secret Smile' is (correct me if I'm wrong, guys) used-by more than one tradition- to prepare the person for whats next. I'm sure it's more than that later on, but I don't the point of KAP is simply to make everyone blissful. It's called 'Kundlini Awakening Process", not "Findley's Enlightenment Process-based upon the Tao Te Ching". Another point- You seem to think that GENEROUSLY SHARING a part of a practice which brings on a state of bliss is bad cultivation, junk food vending, etc.., then PLEASE, TELL ME-- What do you think of a 'cultivator' who spills foul insults-unprovoked-with the maturity of a 13year old delinquent? (That YOU I'm referring to, Findley) Look-KAP is popular on TTB, Findley isn't, so Findley attacks KAP...Jealous? I bet you love all of this attention, dont you? The type of Asceticism you seem to advocate is not for everyone, and IMO it's not likely to work well for people who live in modern societies. So, there is more than one path. PERIOD. You can try to ignore all temptations, material and physical pleasure, and starve your 'self', or you can smile and simply let all the other stuff go, realizing that you are perfect in yourself, and don't need all the junk. Findley, please man, your arms look tired from carrying all that baggage. Let it go. Bast wishes. Nate -
Before anyone looks into Sylvia Brown, I suggest they watch Southpark, the episode called "Biggest Douche in the Universe". I believe it is episode 15 of season 6. That said, does anyone actually have reason to believe she is legit? Please discuss. My mother thinks Brown is great, I doubt it, but I'd love to hear others opinions. Peace- Nate-

Ohh, man. Wha a mind f**k. Well, I dont know how I could narrow it down to three, but here are at least 3 really big ones from my list. 1.) Still smoke pot in high school, but ALSO do sports, and put out some real effort-especially in Mr. Browns algebra class. Otherwise, you'll have to take it like, 3 times in college. You only go through high school once. 2.)Always DO, rather than don't. DO punch that son of a bitch, DO ask her out, DO trust her, DO go after what you want, DO what you know is right. Commit fully! 3.) Make time for those you really love, especially your grandparents on Dad's side, and Mark. They'll be gone in an instant. Damn, what an illuminating question. I have so much work to do. Thanks I guess! N-

Hello, and sorry to bother those of you who respond to this. I have been planning on signing up for KAP 1, but lack the cash. I have read about how great it is, and how it has helped people with stress, etc.. Well, I am about to be thrust into a very stressful year, my last year of Nursing school. I wont be able to afford the tuition for KAP 1 until about the end of September (when my financial aid comes in). I see on their website, the last level 1 class starts in the beginning of september. You see my problem? I was going to email someone to find out when the next (level 1) classes might start, but I cant find an email address. Any help on this contact situation would be appreciated. I really want to start, I just cant afford it yet. Again, sorry for posting this, I know its a bit if a dud as far as threads go. peace-- Nate

"Such preperatory practices will probably give you the stress reduction you need but kap will provide you with a whole lot more than stress reduction." Such as what, may I ask? Care to share?
-
Well, I was actually looking into selling some sperm, but where I live, its not easy to do. Apparently, it is looked down upon in the middle of America. But seriously, I'm going to take the class, I just want to know about when (how soon after the september class starts) the next class will be. I'm hoping one will be available in the end of Sept. or beginning of Oct. So, I'm just trying to get some info, and I also have some concerns/questions I'd like to ask before I start. I may need to do some preparations first. Okay, off to bed. N-

I dont know that this will be comforting to read, since I don't know much about this type of thing--but I think you're gonna be fine. I imagine that this is just a powerful experience, brought about by powerful energy work--KAP. I was less than five minutes behind you when you got accepted for the free KAP tuition. I had JUST logged on to TTB and notices the thread where you got accepted. I looked at the time, and I was like--Dang! just missed that. Please take comfort in the idea that *maybe* it was more than luck that had you stumble into this KAP stuff, maybe someone was serious when they typed 'that's just the way Shakti wants it'. Maybe you needed this, it sounds like its working in some way. I dont think you're gonna be nuts. hope that makes you feel better;-) thinking peaceful vibes for you Nate- And before you start imagining your whole life as a series of explanations of your odd hand gestures to strangers, think about this--that guy in the link had them randomly, for no apparent reason--you had one when doing a meditation exercise. If you continue to have these every time that you do meditations, then just don't do meditations in public? I'm definitely going to do KAP!!! Have you talked to your KAP teacher about this? Other KAP people?

Marblehead-- Yeah man, I'm with you. I personally feel that 'going green'--truly making an attempt to harmonize more with nature, is a step in the right evolutionary direction. It's cool that this is finally starting to get some voice in the USA, though not enough, and should have happened earlier, IMO. Anyway, from some of the things I have read about new advances in nano technology, a change is a comin! And a big one. I read that when nano technology takes off, the changes that result will make the changes we went through with the internet look microscopic in comparison. I believe that there is already the possibility to make a paint, which once applied, can be used as a photocell--a solar panel in a spray, if you will. Just attach electrodes. SO, instead of putting solar panel on top of a car, the actual paint, and some interior surfaces could act as solar panels. Or the new coat of paint you put on your house!! It will be interesting to see when and what is allowed to make it into the public domain, and be 'free'. I'm reminded of how pharmaceutical companies tries to patent the human genome, and the only thing preventing them from succeeding was that the scientists doing the gene mapping published the research and made sure it was public domain. It will definitely be a brave new world! I have a friend who is investing in some solar technology to lighten the electric bill, and he is making good progress with solar heaters and in the process of making a wind turbine to collect juice. The start up is the cost, and its the same with solar cells as far as I know. BUT, if nanotechnology improves, and someone can figure out how to make carbon nanotubes longer, it would be cost effective to send electricity from solar arrays and wind turbines in Kansas all the way to California. Because carbon nanotubes are something like 1,000 times more efficient at conducting electricity than conventional wiring. SO, if we dont start seeing massive improvements in energy production and harnessing solar energy and wind, etc.. in the next 5 years or so, it wont be because the technology isnt there. Big business (big oil) might try to supress the technology. Shoot, did you know that there are algae that produce hydrogen gas? Enough to power a home year round. I guess this has little to do with Tesla, except that the evil, greedy forces in the world may well be trying to suppress other geniuses who are trying to benefit mankind. N-
-
"The trick is to find a way that requires less energy for the process than the process produces. Once that is attained most people who work in the oil industry will have to find new jobs." I think the trick is to find a way that requires less energy in cost, not necessarily in joules, or watts, etc. I'm talking about the largest source of free energy, which we can all use, and do use, and costs no money at all. The sun. With the advancements that have and are being made in the area of nano technology, it will be possible to harness the power of the sun efficiently and cost effectively. This, I do believe big business may try and prevent--at least from it becoming free. Anyway, my point being that with the right applications of nanotechnology, we could use the free energy from the sun to do many things that would cost too much currently. But we have to get the efficiency up first.

Drugs! Turn on, tune in, drop out...
everseeking replied to Lucky7Strikes's topic in General Discussion
Magitek-- I love your pasts. I'd like to share some thoughts. [/b]Cannabis is very safe to the body, not toxic in any way. And we still got the reefer madness thing going on. I was watching a documentry about Jack Herer, the emporer of hemp, about how useful the cannabis plant is (food, materials, fuel, medicine), and how it could save the earth. Interesting stuff. Not necessarily true--the buds, I believe can be irritating to the digestive tract if eaten raw. Any repeated irritation could cause problems. That said, I once read that Bruce Lee ate hash quite often. Maybe it kiled him! He got so high his spirit floated away! Probably not. Also, more specifically, when you smoke it, it is bad for you. Benzopyrene is produced whenever you burn (as far as I know) pretty much any organic compound-whether its a steak you char on the grill, or buds you smoke. They are carcinogenic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzopyrene There are natural carcinogens as well as man made ones. I used to research drugs and I concluded that the so-called entheogens were the only safe ones. Not addictive, not toxic, take it once, then you can be done with it. Do it again if you want, don't do it if you don't want to. They aren't safe for people who have a family history of mental illness, it can sometimes bring about these previously dormant or latent problems. To put it in my own word, not everyone can handle 10+ grams of shrooms. I did. As for the toxicity issue, its not that simple. Addiction--opium? In general I agree with you here, but I have to 'play the devils advocate' so to speak. If they were legal I can imagine a few idiots using them irresponsably. Like doing mushrooms on a roller coaster .etc. But why should a couple of idiots ruin it for the normal people? Doing shrooms on a roller coaster sounds like a lot of fun. It would be the one operating the roller coaster that I would be more worried about! The thing I think is great about using them is that they work quickly. You have to spend a long time meditating to get the mystical experiences. Focusing the mind, fasting .etc to produces the chemicals. But it is torturous. But if you cant experience it without a substance you have to imbibe, then you dont really have it--you just have a glimpse. Dont you agree? I figured it was all about letting go. And if you have any petty existential problems they soon dissapear after taking hash and can stay gone afterwards. Real problems cant be gotten rid of by getting high-just avoided, IMO. I was a much worse procrastinator when I smoked pot. When I used to do hash I just to lie on my bed and it was like I was carried away by an ocean. Afterwards, there is no come-down, you are perfectly healthy. I can't see the big deal. I know exactly what you mean. I suppose its like going off to meditate in a cave--its therapeutic to do a little bit of, but not when you do it so much that you dont live your life-in reality. Just food for thought. Oh yeah and I think alcohol sucks big time. Me too. I prefer the word entheogens to "drugs". Drugs are what the sleazy medical bigots give you. Entheogens are our heritage and our bodies can deal with them very well. I agree. Some 'entheogens' are VERY powerful, more powerful than 'drugs'. Also, I for one dont want to cast out the medical people. I doubt a shaman will ever be able to sew your arm back on should you get it chopped off somehow. Yes, good. My point I want to get across, is that it is ridiculous that a plant has been outlawed and has been given the death sentence if found. Very absurd, isn't it? And even so, of all the plants to make illegal, pot is pretty damn harmless over all. Thanks Nixon, you jackass! I was reading about the drugs they used for MKULTRA and cannabis doesn't work for mind-control! In fact it has the opposite effect. Did you know, that there were studies done during the Nixon administration, which confirmed what you say? That is when/why pot was really hunted after by the government. I bet you that alcohol doesn't inhibit mind control. (about LSD) I just don't get a good feeling about it....... There was a time when I really wanted to take it but couldn't get hold of it... I think the universe was doing me a favour..... Exact same thing happened to me! Better to stick with shrooms, I say. Pot, and THC specifically, binds to anandamide receptors in the brain. This neurotransmitter/hormone is involved in the hunger/satiety mechanism. I've talked to so many people who (uninformed) tell me shit like-'Your brain has THC receptors in it, we were meant to get high", etc. Well, its utter bullshit. Our brains also have carbon monoxide receptors--does that mean we were all meant to suffocate? My point is, when you study the science of brain chemistry, and learn how and 'why' these plants contain substances which have a profound effect on us, it comes down to a much simpler answer. Genetics and evolution. Chemistry. All I'm saying is this--if you want to get high, get high-but be honest with yourself. Don't fool yourself into believing that you are getting stoned in order to become enlightened, or to learn some truth, just say-"I'm gonna get high". Otherwise, you lie to yourself, or believe in lies, and where does that leave you? Arguably worse off than when you only believe the lies that society tells us-because when you lie to yourself, you distort your perception of truth and reality. It's like de-evolving. The best thing these drugs can do is allow you to have an experience which changes your perspective, and allows you to grow in new directions--when sober. IMO, they can be a great too, but you still have to do the work. "Even truth is to be relinquished, to say nothing of untruth" -Takuan Soho, from 'The Unfettered Mind'. Take care man, I was just giving back some food for thought, no harm intended. N- -
anyone notice their energy surging the last few days?
everseeking replied to de_paradise's topic in General Discussion
I'm no KAP-er, but I just made a conceptual breakthrough in an area I've been researching for over 9 years--and I mean, I made that breakthrough TODAY. I was able to learn some important things in the same area of focus from a friend a few days ago. But the real breakthrough was today. I'm only posting this because I was checking out the topics and saw this thread, and wondered what it was all about. Crazy stuff! N- -
To any further naysayers-- I am not in KAP, but I plan on being in when I can afford it. IMO, being able to open and run the MO and some of the basic components of KAP 1 are well worth the price IMO. Its not like there are competent teachers on every street corner who can teach this safely and are willing to come into your home every week to do so. The distance learning class offers just that. I have not come across a single negative post from anyone who's gone through KAP 1. Nothing but great stuff is what I've read. Please realize for your own good that being cynical will hurt you in the long run--you will never be able to do what you don't believe is possible. Letting go of the negative aspects of yourself is as easy or as hard as you make it. Don't bring your rain clouds into others sunshine. N-

Hello all, I know there are some folks here who read about Tibet, and other things more than I do. So I just have to ask. I had a dream a while back, at a time when I was focusing on external Iron Body conditioning (Pai Da Gung). I would do a couple of the postures/excercises I was taught for internal Iron Vest, the rub in a little jow, then whack myself, then more jow, and end with a little more standing. Well, I realized that whacking myself into 'Iron' would take forever, and likely be dangerous, as well as possibly futile. But during this time in which I realized what was wrong with my practice, I had a dream in which someone guided me, and showed me some things. Or at least I feel that someone--someone I've never met, was telling me what I needed to look for and do in order to acheive what I was looking for. Basically, in my dream, I was in a place outdoors and there was a man there- He looked like he was of Tibetan descent-with a black mustache and full head of hair. He was chanting--it made no sense, and didn't really seem to be any actual language--it sort of sounded like the way water sounds when you pour water into a half full bucket. It was like-'yodiyodi yodi odi yodl odi' like a sort of blabbering, but purposeful. It had a deep sound to it, and a slight but noticible reverberation. He held his hands in a configuration of sorts. He was communicating with me through his mind-without words. I was aware that he did not speak my language-english. He had me feel his solar plexus, which felt as hard as steel. He was telling me that in order to achieve the skills I was after with Iron Body and Iron Palm I would have to do serious internal work, refining my energy and mind. And that what I was doing was the wrong way, and would get me nowhere. He was wearing a medium toned brown long sleeve shirt and matching pants, no shoes. He then walked over to what resembled a charcoal pit made of stone-no charcoal in it though. It was about 4 feet long, 1&1/2-2 feet wide, and about the same depth. Going across it lengthwise was a central metal collumn, which had sharp spines coming out of it in all directions--they resembled huge thorns. He then hopped unto it with his bare feet, continued his chanting, and after taking a step or two in the huge spikes (each was probably 13 inches long or so) he assumed a horse stance and clasped his hands together in front of himself as if in prayer-eyes open, chanting. He was showing me his lightbody skills-which were rather unbelievable. Then the dream ended. Doe this mean anything to anyone? Have I been contacted by some master in Tibet? Was this my intuition and subconscious mind telling me I need to recconect with myself in order to regain the forgotten power of the mind? Did anything I described sound like something any of you have seen or heard of? Or was it just a cool dream? Thanks- N-

That link is not working for me-could you post another?

Having had the pleasure of studying genetics for a short while under a very brilliant geneticist, I can paraphrase to you all these things-- 1) there are natural carcinogens, as well as man made ones. THey all cause cancer. 2) Burning/charring of nearly all organic substances (if not all) produces benzopyrines-which are carcinogenic compoounds. When you produce them be charring meat, (well done or grilled with crispy black specks) it is bad for you, and may promote colon cancer when eaten life long. 3)Yes, inhaling any smoke regularly is bad. That may be offset slightly by the therapeutic side of the chemicals in some cases, but does not make it safer or good for you. As for the link above that pushes the benefits of smoking--silly. There are many poisonous substances which can save your life if you have certain medical conditions already--that does not mean they are safe in anyway for the healthy person. Nicotine has its uses. There are nicotinic acid receptors in the nervous system. I have heard from so many people about how 'its natural to smoke pot because there are cannabinoid receptors in your brain--well, there are also carbon monoxide receptors in your brain-does that mean you are 'supposed' to suffocate? 4) Just a thought--sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but tannic acid--found in many teas, has been linked with increased rates of esophageal cancer. Milk tends to neutralize its effects, so all you tea drinkers may want to splash a bit of milk in your tea. However, there may already be cancer fighting compounds in some of the primo teas you guys drink. I agree, moderation is important--the earth wants us to die, eventually, and go back into it-our bodies. I just dont want to be rushed!!! I didnt mean for this to all sound negative, or be a rant. Peace & Happiness! N-

As for the 'actual' drem being a person who could help me, its kind of serendipitous that you'd type that (I assume you meant to include my dream in that statement). See, When I woke up, or rather, as the dream was ending, I got the sense that I was being pointed in the right direction. I was given the feeling that I needed to look inside, in the internal practices, meditation and chi gung--on a level more profound than I am currently able to. I got the 'Understanding qi gong' series by Dr. Yang, Jwing Ming. It provided some clarity, but does not really give a schedule or specific practice to go by. Several things since the time around that dream have pushed me in the same direction. I ordered a book, 'The Essence of Internal Martial Arts, vol. 1' by Jerry Alan Johnson. When the book arrived, I realized that I had gotten Volume 2 instead. I was after the Palm training/vibrational training material in volume 1, so I went ahead and ordered it. In my opinion, these 2 books are some of the greatest books I've ever bought in regards to martial arts. The 2 volumes go together/sort of inseparably. Anyway, they contain some energy practices that I just dont feel capable of doing for sure, as I've never really had a teacher for stuff like small circulation. I was inspired by what I read though, and realized I needed a more solid, deeper foundation before attempting some of the stuff in the book. So, I checked out this place, and low and behold, I found the KAP class-which I can do from home! Too bad I missed the free KAP sponsorship the other day by about 5 minutes. So as soon as I can afford it, I'll be signing up!! Its funny to me--whether it was my mind, or someone guiding me from elsewhere, I have been moving in this direction, and here I am. Pretty cool if you ask me. N-
-
Agreed-- I think that maybe it is watts or some other measurement. I believe that about 9 amps is more than enough to kill someone. Heating elements, which use a higher amperage than stuff like radios, use around 9 amps I think. Im not sure on the specifics, but Im pretty sure that although some people may be able to handle much more electricity than others, no one could take 400 amps, or anything close.

Long Distance KUNDALINI KAP Training through Skype
everseeking replied to Vajrasattva's topic in General Discussion
This will be a repost of a what I posted elsewhere today--- I am appealing to anyone who can anwser my questions to please do so. I am at a point in my life where I could really benefit from of the things I have read to come from awakening kundalini. If I had the money for it today, I would just sign up. However, I will not have the money until I get my fall financial aid, and I am not sure when that will be, so I cannot sign up for a class yet. Thank you for reading, and for whatever you may tell me. Hello-- I dont know where else to ask this, so here goes. I JUST read on another site about Dr. Morriss's K.A.P. I had planned on signing up for the course in a couple months when I have the $. After what I read, I'm even more certain I want to. I sent a message to Vajrasattva (did I type that right?) but I never got a reply. I have a few concerns, and need advice on how to prepare. But what I just read said these things about it (K.A.P., the act, not the class itself) These being the possible downsides, among many positives. "There is much dumping of adrenaline into the body and frying your system is a real possibility and danger. If the kundalini is awakened without suitable preparation and guidance, it can also be also associated with debilitation, insanity, breakdown of the immune system, and prolonged spiritual pain and suicide. Kundalini is the mass explosion of dark, raw, sexual, moist, sticky, juicy power. It is distinctly the wild feminine which can't be controlled. It is primitive, messy and overpowering, like birth and can be as frightening as death." So, I just want to ask--If I do the long distance class on skype, will I have sufficient preparation and guidance? And if I was heading in the direction of hurting my body, would I know, or would my teacher know and warn me? Could it be stopped if I was hurting myself, or would it be something which couldn't be reversed or halted? I REALLY feel like--heck--I have no doubt that it is no coincidence that I found this site, and this K.A.P. class--I feel like it is a process I'm supposed to do. I do have some questions though.. Thanks everyone, sorry to be an insensitive newb and hijack this thread.. Nate- -

Okay, here's my two cents. I haven't read all the posts here, but I think you all will find this interesting. I've trained Iron Palm for about 7 years, the first five or so of which was exclusively in a family system which involved longer than typical striking sessions on a bag mostly filled with mung beans, with steel shot added. Is also involved striking (very specifically) 'harder' than what martial artists would consider to be typical for Iron Palm. Point being, a couple years go I was meeting up with some old friends at a bar, and one of the employees was an old friend. She had a shock baton--like a tazer-that they kept for bouncing people. She said it wasn't fully charged. Anyhow, after a daring first attempt, I found that I could hold onto it while it shocked me. You could hear it quite loudly everytime it would zap me, but I was still able to hold on. No one else could hang on after one zap. I thought it was pretty cool. A couple years later I read something in a qigong book by Dr. Yang Jwing Ming about how it was common on some form of practice to strike the body-especially the dan tien-with bean bags to strengthen the nerves and condition the fascia in order to make it be able to hold more chi. I think he mentioned losing extra fat too. Pretty interesting stuff. I dont recall any more specific stuff than that, and am not at home right now, so I cant look it up. But if anyone wants me to I could in a few days. --N-
