Coming to terms with DEATH!
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan replied to Informer's topic in General Discussion
I'm gonna die some day. sure. who cares? not me. -
i play keyboard... learned how to play piano from my mom, and grandmother before she died when i was very young. she had a profound impact on my ability to play for such a short time she could show me. I still cant play chords, i still cant read sheet music, but i have learned to play many songs by ear, and enjoy learning a new one... even if they're all video game music! But in my experience, videogame music is some of hte most powerful music on earth. they dont have lyrics, so you dont get a prefabricated message, you just FEEL it.

Eh there's only one that i know of, and one that stuck since the first time i heard it (probably in 5'th grade) Nietzsche said: "That which does not kill me only makes me stronger." And that inspired me a lot of ways.

Awesome. i've got to go with that particular art style it's about all i've got consistently! Sure, i try my hand at tai chiqi gong, and some martial arts pointers, off hand.... lol But overall, conversation is my art also story telling, but i havent spent any time in that area in a long time, i am currently trying to hash out a legend of zelda story but it's going slowly. Started summer in '10, and i havent even gotten 1/3 of the way through it yet...

So i know a few people in this world, close friends, who have a large long list of a wide range of health issues. I've mentioned off handed before that these things are managable, but they got defensive and argumentative. I'm not trying to convince them of anything, but i cant help but cringe when one claims they will be dead before they are 50, as if they are fine and okay with that and their health, yet complaining in the same breath. (no pun intended) It would be nice if i could help them never the less... Some cases of localized effects have been observed around me, when i am deeper in practices. others express more energy and lower illness rates, but for something as huge as i want to attempt, i wouldnt even know where to start, except breathing But at the same time, part of me suggests against it at all, that they have to learn the hard way or not at all... Thoughts?

What better way to learn from a bad example than to experience it? I am not trying to suggest that it is good to chop off your arm and wail in pain, followed by chopping off your otehr arm... unless you need to learn that it's gonna hurt and there's nmo good reason to do it, then live on as an example of what NOT to do... No, pain, suffering, embarrassment, and all unwanted experiences are good for something, but not necessarily necessary. They are unnecessary in terms of health, but often necessary in terms of learning and cultivation. We might or might not be born with all the answers and the pure truth, but it is too easily forgotten by the time we learn to speak, and so we must re-learn everything forgotten. Pain and suffering included. -
I think... This is probably... The only... Relevant... Response to this whole shenanigan we refer to as a thread... or topic.

Taoist criticisms on Zen
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan replied to exorcist_1699's topic in Daoist Discussion
I've always seen zen as a less intentional and more natural flow approach. "just let it happen" kind of idea. It's part in learning and educating and cultivating, but more part in doing so without strict intent or regimine. regamin. reg- however you spell it You cultivate without trying to cultivate. If the intent is there, it will unfold on it's own natural course, dont try to alter that or assist it, jsut let it go on it's course as it will. If the intent is not there, then zen might be initiated by intentionally cultivating the intent to cultivate the self, the chi, and the spirit (or shen). However, naming things is so un-zen -

Embracing it is always the most difficult task, so daunting suffering is, great suffering all the more so. But always keep in mind that everything, no matter how bad, embarrassing, painful, or difficult, are always for the best and will make us stronger. The universe is out to help us, but tough love is a form of help that we often find hard to embrace. Dont forget that it's in our best intentions! -
what does the space behind your eyes feel like when you touch it? how do you touch the space behind your eyes?

Taoist INTENT and Goal Manifestation
Vanir Thunder Dojo Tan replied to humbleone's topic in Daoist Discussion
I do not concern myself too much with what already works too often. I go by a feel for it. Personal cultivation for me is 89% self learned. what advice i do hear and get, i take on an experience(d) basis. I've only had 2 teachers in the ways of martial arts, and one i can attribute to chi and/or cultivation. I have taken the seeds they have given me and planted them within myself to allow them to grow to their own nature, within my own nature. -
and yet still we are not banding together with seeds and soil? What's up with that? Oh right, 'people "LOVE" to be consumers'...

hence the "quotations", as a reference to an idea, not an object. the idea of solid and apparent. not the objective of apparent and solid. -

a lot of over intellectualizing. why not keep it simple??? Initiate the intent with intention, get the ball rolling by visualizing it, but dont worry about specifics, that's what the intellect does, worries. Get the IDEA and then let go. let it go and let it be essentially out of mind -
Good, eh mate? Americans have one thing going on for them. I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!

Healing others

I find this to be almost absolute. Definitely true, but almost absolute. It is rare to find one so completely without suffering throughout their life, LET ALONE, such a person who has willingly unbound themselves from the oh so many unnecessary attachments in life. Truly, i see more often that those who have suffered the most become wisest. Great wisdom comes not only from great age, but from great suffering. -
