Actually in thinking about the two options, I believe I prefer the dancer option because I am really repelled by the imagery of land-clearing a forest. Also the dancing appeals more to my love of both Taiji and of dancing. I am sure some might and will contest the correctness of it ... So be it

I received this comment from discussions elsewhere: To which I replied: OK so if 無 Wu or nothingness is the "nature" of Tao then can a no-thing be an essence? Excuse my love for word-smithing, but lets look at the "essence" of essence. Etymologically essence means "basic element of anything", that there is some sort of "beingness" at the core of the subject at hand. For example, Christians have God, a prime being, as the Ontological Essence of their religion. But Tao is at its origin Wu, non-being. So Tao is more of a principle or way in which beingness manifests. Is there a difference between the formless principle of beingness and beingness? I would say "No" because Tao is ever-present; beingness is ever-evolving and it's phase-changing is consistent with the principle that brought to its current evolution. In other words, the principle that determined Heaven and Earth is the same principle that current beingness is evolving into the next phase of beingness. This is best represented by this image:

Hijacking Threads - New Policy Under Consideration
Stigweard replied to Stigweard's topic in Forum and Tech Support
Thanks for all the comments so far ... exactly what needs to be aired. Sorry, it is actually VERY significant that there are folks voicing their discontent. For every person that does voice their opinion, how many do you think that feel the same way but don't comment? I have run businesses for years and I can tell you that only about 20% of upset customers will actually say anything, the rest will go away, never return, and tell all their friends about it. I have seen at least 10 people who have voiced their objections over Vaj's manner of contribution, this would mean we can approximate another 40 people who have been upset and haven't said anything. 50 disgruntled members is significant and warrants this type of consideration. But please keep the comments and suggestions coming -
Daoist Sitting in Oblivion vs Xstian Apophatic Prayer
Stigweard posted a topic in General Discussion
A friend of mine, Michael Saso, recently made this comment: I thought it would be a good topic of discussion. Here is what Christian Apophatic or Kataphatic Prayer is about: And here is a summation of Daoist Zuowang Meditation (Sitting in Oblivion 坐忘) by Michael Rinaldini. -

What a load of utter poppycock!!! (???) Reality check ... if there weren't forces opposing total commitment to the transition to sustainable energy sources, if there was nothing standing in the way, then it would have ALREADY HAPPENED!! Should we inventory all the economic and political stakeholders that have vested interests in the delayed transition to clean, renewable, non-polluting, and sustainable energy sources??? Seriously? Errm ... by launching this initiative, THEY are making sacrifices in terms of their time and effort, THEY are committing their own resources through funding the program, THEY are unleashing their genius by doing everything in their power to make a difference, and THEY are literally putting their faces out there and risking their reputations. Are you for or against the transition to clean, renewable, non-polluting, and sustainable energy sources? If you are for it, then shouldn't we do every damn thing we can to make it a reality as soon as humanly possible??

Yeah right ... typical ... good folks step up to the plate and show some initiative, willing to take a stand for a positive direction and forge the way ... and then we have folks like you who can't resist trying to tear em down. Have some of your own words back: "Isn't that how we got where we are today?"

Bumping this up cause there is some discussion over it in another thread. My brother-in-law's comment: If they are enlightened then we are in trouble! Just a bunch of senile old geriatrics hiding in the mountains! LOL whilst I don't share the extremes of his view he certainly has a point. There was at least one of the "Masters" who certainly fitted that description. The book, Road to Heaven: Encounters with Chinese Hermits, upon which the doco was based, was far better in my opinion.
