    Sums it up nicely
  2. Systema, Aikido

LOL ... nice timing. Just got back from a 5 hour Systema intensive today. I have to say it is a fantastic MA system ... absolutely fluid with strikes and takedowns coming at you from all angles and angles you would never expect. Been training for a year now and can't speak highly enough about it. Fits seamlessly with my Taiji training.
  3. And the circle is renewed once again by a western critic, posing under the anonymous pseudonym of a 2000 year old Daoist sect, making reviews of a recognized and celebrated scholar and practitioner of Daoist traditions, whilst giving us absolutely no credible basis for his estimations other then the exertions of his own opinions. Yes we are all fools here, and I most joyously include myself in that valuation.

  5. Let's start with 三寶, Sānbǎo, the Three Treasures: 我 有三寶,持而保之。一曰慈,二曰儉,三曰不敢為天下先。慈故能勇﹔ Tao has three treasures which he guards and cherishes. The first is called compassion; the second is called economy; the third is called humility. The five elemental cycle, Wuxing, is intimately utilized in Daoist lifestyle. The tastes and whether the food is warming/cooling, damp/dry, etc. are used in conjunction with the seasons and with the individuals internal energy. Never seen a Daoist cookbook? Well you have now: The Tao of Nutrition - Maoshing Ni
  6. I agree in full with your comments. Though my contact with Livia has only been brief in comparison, I give her my full respect and admiration for the years of study and practice she has achieved. I give her even more respect in that she helping people to discover ways of practically implement Daoist ontology into the modern Western lifestyle. + rep to Livia Kohn.
  7. I am sorry my friend but you are criticizing for the sake of criticizing. Prof Livia Kohn is hands down one of the foremost authorities on Daoism in the Western world. Visit Amazon's Livia Kohn Page
  8. Hmmm ... Daoism, in my poor and paltry experience, definitely has a "world view", it has very well articulated "behavioral guidelines", and it is intrinsically rooted in "cosmic thinking". Why do you feel the need to be critical of someone who has done the hard yards in both practical and academic achievement?
  9. Greetings from down under!

  11. What to do with overwhelming emotions?

Athanor, As a supement to all the good advice given here, to be a complete human being we must embody both the masculine and feminine within ourselves. Your yearning for an external feminine influence is a reflection of your internal imbalance. On a practical level our main external source of the divine feminine is actually the moon and there are simple techniques on using the moon's energy to balance out our internal harmony. With this internal balance established I am certain the causes of emotional upheavals will gradually subside. PM me if you would be interested in learning these techniques.

Heya Vaj ... with all due respect you and Shaktimama are very forward about offering your KAP services here. Nothing "wrong" with that, but I am sure you can understand how others might feel about it. Perhaps this could be an opportunity to reflect on how you and Shaktimama can contribute to TTBs in a way that prevents this sort of disturbance. Perhaps you should also consider seriously talking to Sean about advertising as we have previously discussed.

Oppose other peoples' view all you want, get passionate and controversial even, let's just lift the conversation away from personal attacks and insults of derogatory nature. And again for balance, let's also keep in mind that if you try and make yourself look number one then there will always be someone who will try and argue that you are number two (or worse lol) as we have seen in this thread. Our Moderation Guidelines are clearly established and will be enforced. If you don't want to follow our rules that's OK, either provide constructive advice on how we can improve our guidelines or exercise your free liberty by choosing not to come here. Now I apologize to the flow of the thread. If you wish to make further comments please do so in the Forum and Tech Support.

Seeing that you prefer to make your warning public rather then the discreet PM I sent you, posting that someone else's comments are ... let me see ... "bullshit", "crap", "shit". Is, in my opinion, insulting. You are most welcome, and even encouraged, to "give a little balance" to other people's self-claims. But surely we can do so in a way that isn't trying to drag the other person down in a derogatory way. For balance, I am sure Shaktimama has enough self-understanding to realize that her desire to "stand out of the crowd" is what is drawing these sorts of comments to herself. Self-promotion certainly has a way of getting a rise out of other people. If you, or anyone else, has any comments about any moderation action then you are encouraged to make comments in the Forum and Tech Support
