  10. So what do we want then? We seem quite apt at laying down what we don't like ... let's throw down clear statements of what we do want. For me ... I love it when I get involved in topics that challenge me to dig deeper into both my inner inspiration and my knowledge and understanding of Tao. I love it when folks like SYD post up his translations of Taoist classics. I love being able to help people along the way ... to point them in a direction the helps them gain insight into their True Nature. I love learning more about my True Nature and I love it when my interactions with all the good folks here stimulates that learning. OK who is next? ... What do you want TB's to be like for you?

  21. How do you prepare your tea?

My preferred method: Bring kettle to boil (apparently there are now kettles with a "Green Tea Setting" ). Let it cool to approx 80deg C (green and white teas can be sensitive so you want to treat them gently). Place your preferred tea in a teapot ... earthen ware or ceramic is best ... I have a beautiful hand made Morrocan coffee pot that works a treat! My current fav is Ti Kwan Yin Oolong. Pour in the water and let this brew and sit for at least a few hours (overnight is the best). Now you have a 'tea concentrate'. Then as needed pour out a third of a cup and add boiling water. Beautiful !!! Remember to change the brew every 3 or so days so that it keeps fresh.
  22. Leaving, Soon As I Came

You missed a category: F: Long-term members who are quite content in their personal practice and who have learned enough tolerance and patience to accept other members for who and where they are. These members quietly allow the ebbing and waning of Taobums to follow its own course making polite, respectful comments only in times of need. Members of the 'F' category often come together in topics to refine some finer details of Daoist lore and, once done, are quite content to return to the background and enjoy the scenery.
  23. Why Are Western Daoists so Gullible?

People will believe any lie ... either because they really want to believe or because they are afraid it is true. The question is ... how and where does rational thinking meet with the understanding and appreciation of the true divine nature of oneself and the universe? "Back to basics, practical, no nonsense teachings" that deny communion with the spiritual essence of life are just as delusional as teachings that 'chase' superstitious phenonema.
  24. Immortal Chung on cultivation problems

Many thanks SYD ... you have helped clarify my mind and integrated snippets of teachings I have recieved. I would like it very much if I was allowed to quote your comments. Warm regards
