This Saturday at 8.30pm AEST (10:30am GMT) millions of people around the globe will switch off their lights to show that they care about our living planet. Join them and switch off your lights for Earth Hour Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for 1 hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights from Sydney to San Francisco and from Times Square in New York to the Colosseum in Rome. This year Earth Hour has been transformed into the world's first global election, between Earth and global warming. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities and backgrounds have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote. By switching off your lights you will be voting for Earth and showing the world that we need to take action. Join us for Earth Hour 2009, turn off your lights this Saturday at 8.30pm AEST (10:30am GMT) and vote Earth! Sincerely, WWF P.S. Please forward this message to your friends, family and co-workers and help us make Earth Hour 2009 the biggest Earth Hour yet! This message was sent from WWF International, Avenue du Mont Blanc, 1196 Gland, Switzerland.

Jokes for those who take life too seriously :D

This bloke was lonely and so he decided life would be more fun if he had a pet. He went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet. After some discussion he finally bought a centipede, (100 leg bug), which came in a little white box to use for his house. He took the box home, he found a good location for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to the bar for a drink. So he asked the centipede in the box, 'Would you like to go to Frank's place with me and have a beer?' Silence; there was no answer from his new Pet. This bothered him a bit, waited a few minutes and then asked him again, 'How about going to the bar and having a beer with me?' Again there was no answer, nothing but silence came from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few minutes more, thinking about the situation. He decided to ask him one more time. This time putting his face up against the centipede's house and shouting, 'Hey, in there! Would you like to go to Frank's place and have a beer with me? A little voice came out of the box: 'I heard you the first time ! I'm putting my damn shoes on! -

I agree with you 100%. For a long while I felt the same negative impressions about this book as you did. Until I finally bought an audiobook version of it and was pleasantly surprised at what I discovered. Of course I was extra impressed when the author started quoting Lao Tzu! -
