Karma doesn't follow the "soul, self, ego". It is because of the views one holds to. The one holding is a view itself, and there being one holding is also a view. People tend to believe there is a "self" and thus they create that reality of illusion, thus the relative manifestation of karma. Peace, Lin

You remembered! Wonderful! Er Zi Qian Yang Ma- Clamping the Sheep Horse Stance, Toes not to be turned in all the way in order to save one's ankles, Knees over toes, pelvis tucked in, spine pulled down, shoulders over hips, weight down the center of the foot to distribute it evenly. Its for rooting, stretching the muscles of the lower back to stimulate the ming-men, lengthen the spine, strengthen the knees and condition the muscles of the legs, lower back, and middle back. Not many can stand in that posture for a short/long period of time without their muscles aching- says a lot about how much people are utilizing their muscles. There's more about it, but this is a simplified version. Peace, Lin

Funny, I never tried to intellectually "teach" enlightenment to people. You can't teach it to people, but one can teach methods that would eventually lead the cultivator to attain it. Overall, enlightenment must be attained, not thought about. Lastly, I don't like playing the word game. But there are many that try to twist what I write and say in order to get their views believed. I do not care to make money off of the teachings I was given, nor do I care to get famous from what I have. It is quite funny how those who are in the spotlight, and look for gain are believed in the blink of an eye, but those who care not for the fame and fortune are thought to be snake oil sales men.... hehe I rather not have students, and not bother with it all...but I do because there are those that care enough to question themselves. Anywho... be well, have fun, and Happy New Year!!! AMITABHA! Peace, Lin

How unfortunate. I never assumed to try and sell, or even had the idea of selling anything I had on this forum. Basically put, you either eat food and get full or you don't. Thinking about food doesn't get you full. Getting food and eating it does. Peace and Blessings, Lin

Great Method Peace and Blessings, Lin -
When presented with the teachings of Virtue, people oppose it, and find all types of reasons why its not important. Yet tell them its not important and they praise you as they would a wise sage. Enjoy! Lin

The Buddha didn't start out as a "spoiled rich kid"...and he didn't start his cultivation in just one lifetime. As the Sutras teach, the Buddha endured countless lifetimes before he attained Enlightenment. Spiritual powers do not mean one is enlightened. It just means they have spiritual powers, nothing more, maybe a bit of wisdom, maybe not. Peace, Lin

On the contrary, strange jargon was used so those with evil in their hearts would not attain spiritual penetrations.

Enlightenment is enlightenment when there is no more delusion. Regardless of the path, if delusion still remains then complete enlightenment has not been attained. DO not confuse cultivation of Samadhi and of Dan Tian. Being in a state of concentration while focusing on the Dan Tian is just being in Samadhi. Samadhi is a state of concentration. Sitting in meditation, and breathing, while letting the mind still, will cause breath to move to the dan tian. It is a natural process. Daoist cultivation concentrates a lot on the process..thus taking a bit longer to succeed...BUT length of time is not important. The speed and method depends on the mind of the cultivator. Good Luck!!! Peace, Lin

All things are well so far. Getting a Chinese Medicine Doctor to come in and see patients. Wing Chun and Taiji Quan classes have begun anyway, despite the little renovations taking place... Anyone know how to cut a wall...would like to donate time and skill...? haha I'll pa for the supplies but I needa hand with cutting, and or removing an open partition. "One More Thing!!!" I'm looking for a yoga teacher to utilize the main hall in the mornings and early afternoons. There is a specific arrangement I have with those utilizing the space. If anyone is, or knows of good quality, educated and well-skilled in Yoga, not just to make the body look good, but 100% for cultivation purposes, and isn't afraid of making a contribution for using the space daily, let me know asap. I want to set up classes for people. If you (they) have a following, even BETTER! hahaha whoever can put up the money to set up a place, be there and teach, and ensure the students will be alright... hehe I'm all for it, and I'll pop in on more than one occasion...a branch would be fun!... Peace and Blessings, Lin

Differences between Buddhist & Taoist enlightment?
林愛偉 replied to Stigweard's topic in General Discussion
Enlightenment is simply Enlightenment. A Daoist gets there differently in the beginning than a Buddhist, but in truth they both have to adhere to principles that keep the mind from going wild. Both have to restrain themselves from desire, ignorance, arrogance, greed and anger. The road in Daoism is through energy cultivation, and spiritual penetrations, the road through Buddhism is directly through the mind to transform the body. Depending on how the cultivator is, the process may be gradual and or sudden. Both gradual and sudden are the same, it is on ly the mind that perceives them differently. Eventually a "Daoist"will be able to put down their views of self, ego, others and a lifespan and see right through to the truth that there is no beginning and no end and that all things come from the mind alone. At that point, there is no more "Daoist", no more "Buddhist". As is such, the only difference between the two schools of cultivation is the attachments to views the cultivator has about the two schools. In truth, "Daoism"and "Buddhism"is simply just cultivation. All these names to it were just mundane expedients to get people to take a look at themselves and see past the illusion..which they attached themselves to and created more labels. Look at how they are similar instead of different and a whole new world opens up. Peace, Lin -
I may be able to make it this time

While in the World By: Lin Ai Wei While in the world, staying clean from the defilements of the mind seem impossible. We walk in the dirt and mud, and get it stuck to our clothes, bodies, and our mind. It seems hopeless to even bother with wiping the mirror clean time to time, because each time it is wiped, dust clings ever so tightly. Some find it difficult. Some say even after 3,6,9, 20yrs of meditation, cultivation in general seems useless to end the tireless thoughts and desires. What many fail to see is that they just didn't have one lifetime in just one form, nor did they ever just have only one form. Cultivation with thoughts of not getting anywhere are signs that point one to realize they haven't done enough. Maybe the methods aren't suitable for the cultivator at this time, so then modification to the method must be made by the teacher who can see the mind of the cultivator. Patience, diligence, consistency are keys to attaining the fruit of cultivation. In this world, we must be diligent, honest and patience. Be consistence with it. Walk in the world and only concern yourself with that you can transform. Anything more is too much stress. It is stress because there is no ability to handle it. When there is ability, then it is effortless. Take all criticisms with an open heart and all praises with deaf ears. Take all words of cursing and defamation as though they are a foreign language and you have no clue what is being said. Brush it off but without arrogance. Cultivate without utilizing the perception of what you think Daoism and Buddhism is. Drop the views that paint the image of Buddhism and Daoism. Utilize your intuition to resonate with that method of beneficial outcomes in wholesomeness. Then you will come to realize what is true teaching and what is unnecessary. Then you will be free from discriminating thoughts for you will recognize the process of the mind, and have the strength in cultivation to move forward. Keep in mind, any immortal can be "bad", any god can be "evil"... Any ghost, spirit, heavenly being, or hell dweller can have great spiritual powers, can help people, and can do strange and miraculous things. But their karmic nature will always be that of a ghost, spirit, heavenly being or hell dweller. Creating conditions with these beings will indeed cause you to arrive in their realms as well. Think twice. Heavenly beings can be demonic, aggressive, loving, compassionate, evil and benevolent. It takes wisdom to recognize them. If one with karmic conditions of a ghost, demon, etc, has transcended those states, they will no longer be a ghost, demon, spirit, etc. Thus, if they have attained a higher state, more brighter, wiser and compassionate, also has attained a state of not turning back to their past conditions, then creating conditions with them would beneficial for cultivation. Peace and Blessings, Lin

Mak Tin Si, My given name is not Lin Ai Wei, but students and close family-friends had begun calling me this name for over 8yrs. Because very few people refered to me by my given name, this name stuck, and that just what I go by. ANyone can be called this name..hehe I have met a few women called Lin Ai Wei :-P But, please I hope you know, personally, I never once felt to try to put down any acheivement you have attained. You are a good person, and indeed have Orthodox Daoist education to offer. Just, when it comes to the west, there may need to be vacabulary changes for some things, until its not needed. May the Jade Emporer bestow lifetimes of blessings upon you. Peace and Blessings, Lin Ai Wei

No, you claimed I think I am a Buddha. I never said I was and deny I am a Buddha. I am not a Buddha, no where near the Buddha's level. And firstly, if one came up to one of us right before our eyes, could any of us even recognize him/her? You are distorting what I write. I never said I will teach anyone here. I never said I was a Heavenly Master, and never proclaimed to have the unsurpassed teachings, nor to be a Budha, Bodhisattva, Immortal, etc. Only Human. Nor have I claimed Daoism is worst than Buddhism, vice verse. Obviously, you have misunderstood what I have writen. If I were to disrespect Daoism, that would be disrespecting my Daoist teachers. I am too close to them to do that. Peace, Lin

This is fun indeed. Nope, was never bothered by the title Tianshi(TinSi), just you should really pay more attention to how things are viewed in this world. People may call you Tin Si on a daily basis, but the name insinuates more than what most people can understand, and thus presents confusion for the masses. Daoshi...yes, the same thing applies. I have met many a Daoshi...calling themselves Daoshi after their name, and its just ridiculous. Tian Shi, I have met two, both powerful. And not any of them introduced themselves as Tianshi, just simply their name. As my Hua Shan Pai SHifu says, regardless of who one is, or what they have attained, its best to stay out of the pot light and out of people's expectations. As a Daoist cultivator, one wants to present less confusion to the masses. When people hear, or see "Heavenly Master" do you know what they expect? Do you know what goes through their mind? And for living in a grave, no matter what energy is there, the mind is still the mind. That is what must change, not the energy. Once the mind changes, regardless of the energy, the mind will not be affected, neither will the person's "energy body". The language game is quite amusing. What else of what I write do you want to distort and turn around on me? There's a term for it for the last 30yrs...its called Gaslighting in America. People do it and not realize they do it due to habit. Speech is the most important thing, and it must be clear and non-dominating in order to bring forth proper teachings. Peace and Blessings, Lin Ai Wei

Really? I have found there is a habit on this forum of people assuming what others' understandings are. Some just can't have a conversation without claiming others are below them. That's fine. Sorry brother, but you may be ordained as a Tian Shi (Tin Si), yet, there are many who are ordained as such just because of the tradition of it all. Like I said in another post, if you are, why tell people? If you aren't, why claim to be such? If I have to answer that, many will not like it. Then again, you may be such, true and decided by those in the heavens. Which heavens? Peace, Lin P.S.- Keep in mind, there is no attack of one's character here, nor degrading. So before people start picking on words that some have written, look for something with more substance to shine the mirror on^_^

Speaking of which, living in a grave or at a graveyard amongst the tombs, is one of the 12 aesthetic practices in Buddhism. Reason, to remind oneself straight up every day that death can come at anytime, so quickly attain enlightenment, cut off afflictions and end birth and death or one will never be free. Peace, Lin

Under strict conditions. Oh I wasn't saying he isn't powerful, or powerful. Just that whatever high level has been attained, in our world, its best to keep it low, and off public radar. Our world is full of people who want to hurt high level beings. And there are people who want to be high level beings. Either way, regardless if one is or not, its best to play the a fool to a degree, and not let one's cultivated state be known, ...unless they are about to die. Keeps things ..."authentic", and saves people from wasting time paying respects when they can be cultivating. Authenticity can be felt off someone, it radiates and permeates. Its effortless and attained by proper effort. Peace and Blessings, Lin
