  1. What is the Most Common Problem...

    Peace and Blessings.
  2. What is the Most Common Problem...

Don't visualize a life of no more debt, and no more problems. It doesn't work. The burden of paying back debt is heavy indeed. For all of us in finances and deeds left unfulfilled. Happiness isn't the outcome of no more debt to be repaid. Its in the fact that you can pay it back regardless of how long it takes. Responsibility is myriad; in all shapes and forms for all living beings. Regardless of how burdensome it is, or how light, it is only partial to the whole, and still influences the whole. No more visualization of a life sought. Conditions to repay debt, and observe decisions can be held on the pedestal of not worrying of never being able to be free from it. Be free from it in mind through not worrying of the act of fulfilling it. It is there regardless. Just perform the function of cleaning it up at your own pace, and do not be frustrate with it being there. There or not, your cultivation is golden when you are neither moved by the outcomes, nor are creating them.
  3. What is the Most Common Problem...

Amitabha! Indeed a a heavy burden. No matter how we want politics to change, they will change by the hands of those in it. When a majority change, then politics will change. Until then, everyone is looking for certification of their hopes. Change the image of the world in your mind, and slowly empower yourself with thoughts of being the function of people's hopes. Live wholesomely, and speak clearly, with patience. Look with calm eyes and imagine what those calm eyes are like. Wear the peaceful mask until it is no longer a mask, but your original face. What we did as a child in this life indeed become our life as we age. Sift through the thoughts we held from childhood till now, and find out which ones still have a function. Our ground is as solid as our mind. When the ground disappears, we will walk on air. If our minds are light enough indeedy! When our world we perceive holds to it obstacles of heavy burden, treat them as guests in a hotel. But do not hold onto those guests. Let them go and feel no need to make them return. Cultivation it is indeed. An honorable task. Peace. Peace and Blessings! Be the model of the reality of goodness you perceive. People will come to you naturally. We have to walk with eyes open through the darkness. In the case of having eyes open, the world isn't dark, and yet the burden we hold is in watching the people walk in sleep state; sleep in mind, sleep in emotions, sleep in bed. When your energy is not concerned with how to, it will be in the right place of being. And when that is so, people will question naturally. Amitabha!

THen the cure to overstimulation is not in its opposite, but in the recognizing of the habit of being overstimulated. Once the mirror shines upon the root cause, change may manifest.
  5. How Is Taoism/Buddhism a way of life?

Its considered a way of life by the cultivation of living in the understanding of what basic necessities are for the living conditions you manifest in your life. The most basic characteristics of of what makes them a way of life, or lifestyle is simply being a good-hearted person. Being a good-hearted person means being patient and considerate to everyone you encounter, animal, etc. So to sum it all up, being Daoist and or Buddhist is simply to be a virtuous person. Religion in it is simply a misconstruction of the teachings. Yet it also depends on what the majority see religion as. Take just two perceptions of religious views: 1). to devote mind and self to practices in only worship with hope that things will get better. 2). to devote oneself to the teachings in regards to being a good person and being an example to others of virtue. To worship in the manner of paying respects to one who has higher cultivation with hope of attaining that level, and faith that one will attain it through constant practice. Basically, for Buddhism, religious views within it started about 200yrs ago by those who elt in competition to Daoism which was gaining lots of followers due to its vague presumptions of daily living. Vague presumptions were made by many who couldn't control their mind. Thus, it went to Buddhist cultivators alike. Daoism, before institutionalization, as well as Buddhism, was a well respected education dealing with what is now seen as 3 separate entities to be cultivated; Body , Mind and Spirit. Followers of both devoted themselves to service, cultivation and the propagation of the teachings by means of what the people were ready to accept. Now it has been made into a capitalist front, with teachers on both ends teaching bits and pieces of the proper teachings, making them deviant. Thus the current confusion of what Buddhism and Daoism is actually. What is it then? It is simply teachings to better cultivate virtue. When the mundane of character is refined, it transforms to what is considered to be "spiritual". Spiritual is basically everything we experience, from the mundane to the pure. It all originates from the same source. Different teachings for different minds, but its all the same teachings, as long as it leads the cultivator to wholesome outcomes, and steers them from deviant, indulgent lifestyles. If you look at all the Martial Arts guidelines, they all point to not indulging in sexual activity to retain one's spirit. Spirit is simply the brightness of a well cultivated person, the essence of their wholesome behavior. If it is deviant, but bright, it isn't wholesome. How to tell them difference? Just observe the cultivator teaching. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  6. Taoism and Buddhism Study Guide

You need Theravadan Sutras as well, because it is all Buddhism too! For Daoism you will need more than Laozi and Chuangzi. Its good to touch the surface. As for Buddhism, there is too much involved where not all of the methods are present in Sutras here in this world. There is much that isnt given. For Daoism, its pretty much there, because there isn't much to it in terms of body cultivation, mind purification and transformation for spiritual powers. There is of course the hiding the truth of the practices to make money, which will make it difficult to get everything. But its good to touch the surface! hehe Great work you are doing !!! Thumbs up! Peace, Lin
  7. Monks robes and wish me a safe trip.

Its funny, but Chinese clothes and Qi Gong and Martial Arts have only one thing in common, that Chinese clothing was worn by the Chinese because that was their way of clothing. There were great people in China and bad people, and they all wore Chinese clothing. Now, because of the western influence, people throw away their cultures. Regardless of what standard societal fashion is, I say where what you like, but make sure it doesn't wear you! Peace and Blessings, Lin
  8. Experiencing nothing while meditating!

Its still a good state. But investigation of the state while in the state with a discriminating mind is no longer the "state" of nothingness. A good marker, but unwholesome to seek for it. AMITUOFO!
  9. Experiencing nothing while meditating!

Experiencing the nothingness during meditation and recognizing it has been experienced during meditation is no longer nothingness. If it was nothing, then there would be nothing to experience, no experiencer and no discrimination in the mind of the state whatsoever. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  10. Monks robes and wish me a safe trip.

When you arrive at the temple, it is best to bring the clothes with you and show them to the monks there, then ask them if its okay for you to wear them. Unless you have taken refuge with Daoism, and taken the precepts as a left home person, then you can wear the proper clothes for the Daoist Left Home person. The Cheongsam(changpao), is not religious clothing, but Manchurian clothing, and was worn during the Qing Dynasty. People in China usually discriminate on those who wear Cheongsam outside. They assume the one wearing it is a left home person. That's why I stopped wearing my Cheongsam and most of my Chinese Clothing in China. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  11. The Teaching Of The Buddha

Change is the constant of relativity. It is not a truth, but a falsity. As it reaches its highest point, it proceeds to its lowest one, and then it does it all again. Stop thinking, then there is no change to be made. Peace, Lin
  12. The Teaching Of The Buddha

The mantras were way before Shakyamuni Buddha taught them to living beings in his time. They were, and are still, used in many different realms. He taught mantras, one being specifically the Shurangama Mantra. Another one, the recitation of Amitabha Buddha, Earth Store Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva...though those beings introduced that method of reciting their names, he certified it to be of good merit and much benefit to one's cultivation. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  13. Gum disease

I haven't read the thread completely yet, but here are somethings: Stop eating hot natured foods: spicey, oily, salty, fried, chicken , lamb, beef, shellfish, baked/dried foods and icecream HAHAHA Stop drinking (if you do) any and all sodas, except selzter. No Sweets! No Coffee! Drink more green teas, and cool natured drinks (but not cold drinks). Green Tea, Chrysanthemum Tea, Jasmine Tea, Rose Tea..flower teas are good, but not Lipton Teas(all processed). Most gum/mouth problems stem from stomach heat. Bleeding gums, etc... Eat more green veggies! Also, start taking vitamin C regularly: 6,000mgs daily: 2,000 morning. noon and night. Every week for one month up the dose by 2,000mgs. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  14. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

Self study, humble attitude with it, and then there is a basic understanding required for the next step. Find a teacher, or go to a school, and one will succeed accordingly. A long path indeed, for Chinese medicine is itself cultivation, and its a life long cultivation indeed! Dedicate patience, persistence and the outcome is favorable. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  15. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

I charge people to treat them, yet when I know their financial situation I make considerations like buying their vitamins for them, or treating them for free once and a while. I go to their homes, and though I do not have much rent to pay, I live as though I have lots of expenses; not buying what I think I might need, not going to places just for the sake of going, eating home, or buying food that is less expensive, and eating once or twice a day... helping people is a selfless lifestyle... of course one has to take care of oneself, so do so And in the process try to make good considerations for those with financial difficulties. Difficult indeed, but a life worth living
  16. Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Career?

Why would one want a career in medicine? Its not a job, its a lifestyle. One doesn't study Chinese Medicine to make money in the long run, for making money is inevitable, regardless how much or little. Being a Chinese Medicine Doctor is not like being a doctor here in the west. Because the cultural ethics of China are part of Chinese Medicine, money shouldn't be an issue. If you don't eat today, but you helped some random person who either stepped into your clinic, or you bumped into on the road, then you are truly a doctor of Chinese Medicine. Charging is fine, but those who can't pay, don't turn away...lol Then again, don't base your whole financial existence on medicine either. Save up for the rainy days, or poor people, live less on the luxurious side of society, and utilize enough. Invest in loss and maintain that which nourishes just before excess. ENJOY! hahaha Peace, Lin

In America, I am not sure how many states do not require you to have some sort of medical background to prescribe herbs, but I believe in NY you need one. The utilizing of energetic healing methods in the U.S. are not regulated, unless you are in Florida. The "Massage" board there regulates energetic methods stating one needs to have a license to do it or it is illegal. Quick story, I once moved down to Florida to fight them on it. I told them where I would be and how much to how little to nothing I will charge and if they tied to arrest me, they sure as hell better have a good excuse or a big suit will fall upon them; and if anyone tried to arrest me, I would leave them with a an actual reason why they should. I was a bit arrogant and haughty at 20 haha. They changed the law to allow energetic medicine to be covered by insurance after Gary Null got in their face and my letter somehow go to the board. We caused a stir! I was getting calls from FL for days once they got my letter..lol I had already returned to NY, and no one showed up to stop me at the time...hehe That is no problem. Just make sure you know what you are doing, and I'm sure you do, and you will have no problems. Martial Artists prescribe physical exercise all the times, and have no type of certification from a major institution. I'll PM details, but basically all the stuff I learned, I learned through meditating, sitting meditation and lying meditation. Daoism and the cultivation methods therein, and Buddhism, and the cultivation methods therein. The Chinese medicine, the needling was taught to me by a person, but the methods used to treat came from cultivating. Sounds like a plan. Just get more hands on. Deep concentration, in the cultivation sense, and the methods appear right infront of you. The medical background for Chinese Medicine is great for the language of the medicine, and various experiences from elder teachers. It is such a great manner to learn. Because my training isn't university training, I usually study the names of some sickness and learn the medical jargon. Funny... I used to teach at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in NY back in 2003, Qi Gong: Yi Jin Jing, and Fa Gong(mixed into the class towards the end of the semester). Politics got me fired...seemed as though, from what I heard, the head of the Qi Gong Dept. didn't quite like the fact that I made the Biomed Doctors believe in Qi, which go tme the job, and my students, which were once his, were actually learning and gaining something. Having skill is important too. So take your cultivated skill and utilize it wisely, you will always have a chance to do good for people. Cultivate at night, serve during the day till evening. I am changing my schedule to that. Not enough time int he day to do what I am doing, so I am working on meditating at night and after 5am service, and studies. Never too many..only too little...hahah because I can talk forever if you get me started!!!!!!!!! Peace and Blessings, Lin

Definetly right on the cultivating good merits there! Changing one's health and even lifestyle is fueled by doing good deeds. What one wants for themself, they must help others attain it, and or give it to them. This will ensure their own attainment of it in the future. Peace, Lin P.S.- I do need help with some renovations at the gongfu school if anyone is interested..hahaha
  23. Developing and Already Working Clinic

I was goign to say pm is better to further discuss. But just for the open forum info, no matter what medicine is available, and how good it may be, it will take work on the person's behalf to get better. I don't believe in money running everything. if I see there is benefit, but no funds, it doesn't matter. Come any way. Not everything depends on how much mone can be made. We'll talk more later :-) Peace and Blessings Lin

Bi-polar, though emotional, can be treated successfully, with not only treatment, but meditation and constant guidance in. It would be a treatment focused towards calming down one's spirit, and controlling one's thoughts, desires and speech mannerisms. No you wouldn't be paying 50$ a month for life. I personally believe it is curable because all sickness stems from the mind alone. And no amount of money can pay for such a "fixing". I would say, if ever a person came to me with such a condition, if after the first 2 treatments the results seem to be slow given the severity of the condition, then the price per treatment would be lowered according to their financial status because more treatment per month would be necessary to ensure good results. I can't put a price on the fact if someone can be cured. I can say that thee time and bills utilized to use a place for the treatment must be considered. I would personally lower the treatment fee so the person can get better according to the time needed til one gets better. There are some instances where I charge next to nothing, or nothing at all in regards to a person's financial situation. Though money maintains the place I use, a person is more important to a greater degree. If one is trusting enough in my skills, I would utilize acupuncture for the efficiency and speed for a result, with regards to the health maintenance of the patient. Peace and Blessings, Lin P.S.- I don't understand why it was a hard question to answer.
