  1. A Gathering of Immortals

Thank you for that "Check" ... It is always important to reflect on one's efforts to make sure they are indeed doing things in a proper and beneficial manner for others. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  2. A Gathering of Immortals

    Where... ?
  3. A Gathering of Immortals

My hope is people will not be biased. Maybe I do hold too high of vision..but that is what keeps me going. Wholesome is that which does not advocate killing others, indulging in extreme sexual practices like sleeping with as many people as possible, stealing people's energy during sex, and using others to higher one's level of cultivation. Not harming others, not mentally hurting others as well...along these lines. Yes, a free for all is good, but with direction, not a whole bunch of info thrown out there. Who would not want to try to do it? Its not about fame, but really clearing the mess that has become cultivation... in mainstream for the least. There was a thought for this..it will take more cultivation to maintain, and even attain the wisdom to lay the groundwork. The idea has manifested, there is some maturity in the creator of the idea's mind.. I believe that was Song Yong Dao. What will be looked at is if the teachings hurt people and the cultivator. Not a "They" that decide what they like, not a bureaucracy. One aspires to become a Buddha...if the road they take is indeed wholesome, they will be guided by the most purest of wisdom. I just hope that those who will take part in this work promote Patience, Compassion and Wisdom. By reading Sutras, one can get an idea of how the Buddha's manifest character as. Yet, by cultivating diligently, they will realize that mind...when the cultivating has matured. No, do not twist this teaching. It is not simple, but can be quite simple. Recognizing one is a Buddha, does not require one to give a pat on the shoulder and say, "Hey, you are a Buddha." It simply requires observation, and leaving them be. When a being attains Buddhahood, there will be signs... its not an easy task to attain, and any small attainment is nothing to jump and sing about. States are stepping stones...they are little check points on the path, but grasping, chasing for states is detrimental to one's cultivation. The platform is not the people. Its the place where the teachings are said to reside, the upholding of the teachings. When someone attains small states, its good, if they know its good, fine, but if they say its great, and assume they are great sages, they are wrong. Like I said before, I personally hold up all teachings to the mirror of the Buddha Dharma, and the Dharma utilized is the Shurangama Dharma. It is a Demon-Spotting Mirror and hated by many. So far, it has been right on point, even after the Buddha expounded the teachings in his time, and other Buddhas did the same in their time. I would only support the Buddha's teachings. And basically, anything that benefits all living beings through the cultivation of Patience, Compassion and Wisdom is just the Buddha's teachings, even if it comes out of the mouth of Allah, Jesus, Mohammad, Ghandi, etc... I do talk much, but this is good. Your questions are catalysts for deep and thorough explanations of the intent. Once these are clear and laid out properly, then an open forum can be underway. Mind you, there will not be several people sitting at a table saying "I like this guy, I like that one, I don't like him.. blah blah blah". It would be more of a gathering of the teacher's info, history, reading his material to gain a feel for what he/she stands for. If they are people who just read a book and decided they were great sages, or are people who have some cultivation under their belt, and would like to share something they feel may be of some benefit. :-) Peace and Blessings, Lin
  4. A Gathering of Immortals

Its unfortunate that we have this discussion in two threads, partially. This is where egos get upset about who is wiser than another. This is not about the "I am am wiser" pedestal. It is about the teachings that are expounded being in accord with teachings of wholesome education. Maybe there are people out there that have the eyes to tell what is and isn't wholesome... Does it have to be someone from the Taobums...? I use the Buddha Dharma to see the truth of something. Other people use other methods... but in truth, wholesomeness is wholesomeness regardless of its package. What's premature? No. Its not a mystery school, and no one is deciding what's worthy and not. What is being established is a platform for wholesome cultivation. It is a shame that some people can't recognize wholesome cultivation, and those that do are looked down upon as being egotistical and conclusive. This is why it was stated that because we are going to lay down this platform, our virtue and conduct must be pure. We must cultivate even more diligently. What I am saying is for people to realize Buddhahood! Act like the Buddhas, think like them, sit like them, eat like them, talk like them, meditate like them.. these seeds eventually result in its respective outcome...just don't say "I am a Buddha".... Realization of one's Original Nature is amazingly a slap in the head! One should be able to tell what they have awakened to. It becomes quite apparent, the defiled state, and the state of Non-Production. Peace, Lin
  5. Myth Busting

  6. A Gathering of Immortals

Yes, all things in due course. Now its laying down the groundwork; we have no place persay, and I am still in the process of looking at land upstate New York. I had hints at the old "Dao Mountain". Of course, I would renovate that place form its previous energetic influence, and get things moving,..but I also heard they are renting it to people. What I have in mind is literal land that we can develop on, make temples of cultivation, housing for those involved and students, cafeteria. Make it non-profit, we will need grant writers to ask for government grants. If we get an address, we will make it a non-profit...a big non-profit...but first... we can start small, with , like you said , 3 day lecture on introducing the idea, gathering a few teachers with their methods and teaching a bit here and there. Let's see what Song Yong Dao, Vajrasattva, and those who want to be involved in this development, think. Even in the beginning, we need a guideline to keep conduct in check..respectful and welcoming, loving and compassionate..but no fuzzy, superficial faces and hugs..hahaha Peace, Lin
  7. A Gathering of Immortals

So thorough you are! >>bows<< I'm sure many of us here dreamt of a place like this. I, since age 11 when I vowed to do this work. I'm 28 now. The "not making profits" meant that those involved will probably not make it rich of off this, its not a business venture persay... Basically a big non-profit with its funds and income respectively. Housing for those involved on the land built upon...Big work? I have started saving as of this moment. I just made an evelope where I put in $20 bucks to the project..haha every week, what my patients give me, I'll take a cut from that and put it in the envelope. Partial donations I get for Jing Xin Yuan will go in the envelope too, for Jing Xin Yuan will be there in the mix a Big soup we are stewing... Peace, Lin
  8. Myth Busting

This myth busting has been done in old African and Caribbean Battle Wizard cultures; Those who claimed they got it, were put to a test. If they couldn't produce the magic, they were killed on the spot b the elders because letting them live would just poison the society. I will let you all know my abilities now, so as to save everyone the trouble of raising up in arms : When I have to go to the bathroom, I remain patient until I see a bathroom. Then, I go to the bathroom. Hungry, whatever will not upset my stomach and mind is good for me. When faced with opposition, I see them talking in sign language, but I can't read sign language, so I laugh. If they go to hit me, I get out of the way... Alone, I am lazy, in company, I serve tea. Oh, and I do need to shower occasionally. I say, no talk of spiritual powers. If people come saying they have this and that, ignore them. If they can produce it when its needed, good for them. Its best to not let them open their mouth and delude others, than it is for them to try and not produce. Only when one "needs" the function, is the function producible. Other than that, its sheer ignorance to bring up "I have this power and I can see dead people..." That's good, I ask, What did the Buddha say in the Desire heaven's yesterday? Oh, couldn't hear the Dharma? The ability is useless. It is best that the senses are turned inward, the mind bright. This way, all sounds are heard without needing to hear, and sights are seen without needing to be seen...etc, etc, etc... ( I am thankful for that musical the King and I...haha etc, etc, etc...) All abilities manifest in wholesomeness when wisdom is cultivated. I wouldn't tell someone I do such and such and that if they study what I teach, they can get it too. No way. I would say, there is a method you can cultivate. Your attainment is dependent on your diligence and good roots. That way, its safe for the teacher, and makes the student work hard. They will know the result of their cultivating when the time to harvest is proper. There is no need to rush. Some people have to wait lifetimes before they can float, fly, read minds, see realms, astrally project, etc. Attainments are no way one lifetime. Any teache saying otherwise is indeed lying to their students. And if the students can produce the result, ask them the day later, if they can't do it again, its only temporary and thus deviant. Relying on such teachings of deviance would only make the student cultivate in vain. It is so important to uphold teachings of wisdom, that will result in attainment of spiritual abilities, but just not chasing after them. This can go on forever..hahahaha I'll stop here Peace and Blessings, Lin
  9. A Gathering of Immortals

This is a good start...a drawing board so to say. Foundation is the most important in such a project. We are gathering people of cultivation. This not only opens the doors to an unusual happening, but opens the doors to demons of all shapes and sizes as well. They will come in as big egos, sharp tongues, cultivated sarcasm and even hold some valuable wisdom which in their hands is twisted to get people hooked. We will need eyes to recognize them, ears to hear for their deviant teachings, and the patience to observe it all, compassion to not get angry and wisdom to once recognized sweep the dust and take out the trash. I am one for strict guidelines in this matter, and during our times I feel it is ever more needed. Conduct is first and foremost when addressing people, welcoming others and showing respect for those who are cultivators regardless of their "level" of cultivation. Of course, wisdom is first to be recognized as a determining factor. But, we have to lay down , first, by what manner one can recognize the wisdom of true teachings... If someone starts saying they are, and we are Buddhas already, I will take out my sword and chop their heads, all of them, off! In today's world, that is a red light screaming "I am deluded, help!" It will take a long time to lay the groundwork, sift through standards and regulations for conduct, or it will just turn out like the modern day martial arts tournaments, and online forums ...bitch fest central with a touch, a big touch, of ego. As people who will be working on such a project, it is at the utmost imperitive that we ourselves maintain as high as possible, levels of conduct, cultivated virtue and attainment of good merits. Without them, we will not have the ability to maintain and host such a meeting... 3 days wouldn't be enough at all. I'm thinking an all out explanation of one's methods, which explain details on why they believe it is a good method. After wards, lectures on the methods in a class setting for those who resonate with those teachings. Then a gathering again of the teachers to discuss how to maintain their teachings, in written record, without change. Gathering of those students who attended selected lectures, discussing the states they attained, and have the teachers of those methods explain the ins and outs of those states. All must agree on one thing thoguh, to maintain clarity of mind and protection from demonic behavior, delusion...that all states are only stepping stones to attain higher levels of concentration which in turn assist one in ending their deluded thinking and eventually attain realization of their Original Nature. Because, truthfully, gaining states leaves potential confusion to manifest..seeking for the states, maintaining in the states, and thus getting stuck there. It is such a thin line we will walk in putting together this kind of thing. I pray to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to guide us in making proper and wise decisions, and bring in their light along this path to further guide us to be protected by Dharma Protectors Unnumbered. This task is not easy to say and not easy to do in our time. It will bring in no profits, and if it did, those profits should only be towards developing further such a place of cultivation and all its expenses...even if it means housing the teachers, and stewards of a place of that magnitude, and their families...haha a place of agriculture to eat wholesome foods and steards of the land to grow the food, cook it... Everyone has a part to play in the upkeep. This was my dream, in part, of a cultivation school. In such, Jing Xin Yuan would house the Buddhas Teachings...but not closed to anyone else. I alsways had a dream of a cultivation school, where traditions were housed on the same grounds, with their respective places, or temples, and then a meeting ground for those elders to gather discuss the future care-taking of this world and work together in their traditions to empower wisdom, patience, compassion..which results in overall peace and enlightenment. So much to work on..little steps to take. Oh, and let's not call it Gathering of the Immortals...it screams brainwashed commercialism, especially in our already "New Agey" mentality...it just reeks of buy me, sell me all over it..lol Yeah, I'm crazy.. But it does sound kewl(cool) though, has a big ring to it, but I'm sure something a bit more..subtle Peace, Lin

  13. Secrets of Universe

Wonderful post! And quickly to my statement of Lao Zi's Bodhisattva hood... it was just saying so for the sake of argument. It can be done! But it will take people who are there to mold the forum, cut out the arrogant participators, and go forward with the principles of Cultivation only. To sit down, and discuss the functions of the methods of each other's tradition, respect each other for their attainment of wisdom through their methods, and work together to expound those teachings. A school perhaps, of a whole mix of cultivators, respecting each other, and teaching that as a foundation for cultivation. A place where the method is investigated, and then cultivated, and finally taught to eager students who are not chosen because of how much money they have, but because of their humility, honesty, and good roots. No favoritism what so ever. The Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Gods and Immortals, Dragons and Asuras do it...well maybe not Asuras, haha, but the point is that high and wise sages gather and discuss the methods that best fit the minds of living beings, and then support each other in the expounding of those teachings. As a reference, check the Shurangama Sutra Volume 5, the World Honroed One asks his disciples: "I ask you, when you first brought forth your resolve and became enlightened to the eighteen realms, which one of these brought you perfect penetration? hrough which expedient did you enter samadhi? --- Many ways to cultivate due to the many minds and their conditions. Which one brings results? People even say how Buddhism is about disregarding the sexual cultivation methods, but in the Shurangama Sutra, they are there...but it isn't dual-cultivation of mixing men and women. It is not masturbation either...haha it is how to transform the desires and lust into essence. I am refering to Fire Head Vajra Bodhisattva. Basically, It would be an awesome time to gather well cultivated ones in one room, discuss and record the whole entire explanations of their methods. What a grand thing. Peace, Lin

I didn't realize it was a question. I thought you were being rhetorical If Max Sifu appears as a Bodhisattva, with virtue and moral complete, to you, then he will be one regardless of which teacher says so. I tend to not believe the words of a Lama, nowadays, when one says so and so is a Bodhisattva. Its best to develop your eyes, and open your wisdom to be able to tell. But, I do hope Max Sifu is a Bodhisattva out to help living beings attain wisdom. But I will never say whether he is one or not. Maybe I can't tell , and or maybe its not important to point the finger . A reason for that is, you publicly point the finger at a Buddha or Bodhisattva, and he will go away. I don't want them to go away. Stay and teach wholesome practices. Since Max is not here on this forum, it is not respectful to state claims of him being this and that. How to tell? The teacher teaches wisdom. The teachings expounded are in line with the orthodox/proper Buddha Dharma, not one bit, one small smidgen is blemished with desire and lust, ego and greed. Call the teacher a Bodhisattva and he responds as though hearing a foreign language. Call him a Buddha and his response is as though he is deaf to the name. I appreciate the regards to me in answering the question, yet my response to you, though not as direct as you would like, is only in highest respects to you, with no sarcasm what so ever. Whether he is or not, I do not want to poke fingers. Not my place. Peace and Blessings, Lin Metzu ( I know you corrected me already on the name, but this sounds better ) ..."Kill" the Buddha... this was in regards to states reached during meditation. When in meditation, one may reach states where Buddhas appear. But infact, they may not be actual Buddhas, but demons in disguise trying to sway you into the thought process again, desire and lust. The "killing" was a manner of not following the images, sensations and what not attained during meditation. In regards to how you put it, the reason we are here in the world is not the reason we are here. In fact, any reason you can think of indeed is not the reason. When one is free from reasoning, and even deciding that nothing is worth it... then the need for a reason ends, and you actually taste the freedom that is an existence without existing, without life and without death, without no life and no death. Can't imagine it, but you can attain such a state. Stay in it longer and longer each time in meditation. The mind is cleaner, crisper, wiser...bring that wisdom back and teach us all. When you are free, and see that the "others" are still not, you will ahve such compassion to make the illusion by your own wisdom just to benefit every one else. Come and go as you please... Amituofo! Peace, Lin

Amituofo! As for Nutella: I was eating icecream the other night (yes I eat icecream once and a while ) and realized I did in fact run out of Nutella! HAHAHAHAHA None for the icecream
  17. Yes! The 6th Patriarch heard a verse of the Diamond sutra being recited one day. That verse was/is: "Produce that thought which is no where supported." Before Bodhidharma's arrival, Buddhism was not well "put-together" in China. It arrived in 67 AD and the Sutra that first arrived was the Sutra in 42 Sections. It was brought by extremely high level cultivators. I wrote the story in some thread on the forum a time ago... its a mouth full indeedy. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  18. Secrets of Universe

Lao Zi is enjoying his time in the Brahma Heavens, cultivating away. Not Lao Zi anymore, but to those who need to see the image he once had as Lao Zi, he will appear as such. He returned to teach the most easy to grasp of teachings to a society that was too dull mentally to understand anything else. To them, then, it was so profound...India already knew about these things, as well as sages and the like in various cultures around the world. It was Chinese society who had the roots to get that information, which then led to the Buddhas teachings (meaning which then prepared people to open their minds to another manner of cultivation)-- :::: Which is how the story goes. A Bodhisattva is one who has the wisdom to teach living beings, be they demons or immortals, and have them reach the wisdom shore as well. They are the Defeater of Mara, Princes of Virtue. They hold no fear and no defiled virtue or moral. Some think it is all too easy... They write books, endlessly, make money, and sell the idea that they have money, and know the secrets of the universe...lol . Really, they just know how to sell, draw in...its called hooking, by getting a niche, and marketing it. Peace, Lin

  20. The Chan School is a system of cultivation passed down from Shakyamuni Buddha to many great sages. The Chan school is about non-dual teachings, sudden and gradual are the same...look to abide with conditions, be content. Not moved the mind is undefiled, internal and externa, there is no holder of its distinctions. This state, though explained, is not realized unless under proper guidance. Daoism is a school of cultivation focusing on the cultivation of the Dantian, attainment of immortality, and then, one must further their cultivation. It encompasses virtue and moral cultivation, which is important in both "spiritual" and "worldly" realms. Both schools teach similar techniques, and may use different methods to expound those techniques. Immortality is only immortality once the causes of rebirth are cut off. This is in both Daoism and Buddhism. Thus is the same in Chan. Different to a degree..but that is peripheral...not total..it is illusory, not real. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  21. Secrets of Universe

Zen= Chan, Chan=Zen: Same thing, one is Japanese (Zen) spelling, and one is Chinese (Chan). People can cultivate Chan for a whole lifetime and get nowhere. Chan(Zen) cultivation is no easy task. 10yrs of its practice doesn't certify you to anything, nor does it leave you an authority to is contents. To succeed in Chan, is to not seek fame, fortune...to not be moved; To be content with all things, and to not distinguish all things by means of duality, but of wisdom. So telling others you have "Chan experience" for 10 years means nothing. The outcomes of actions are quite obvious . --- Seeds planted, the myriad flowers appear. Ground undefiled, where do the flowers reside? --- Is your Yang Shen stage true?
  22. Secrets of Universe

Li jiong, Are you saying you are a Buddha? I doubt it HIGHLY! You don't know how far Buddha has come. You read an idea about how far Buddha has come, but in actuality, if you read a Buddhist Sutra, and cultivated the teachings therein, you would possibly realize that to know the Buddha's state is to become a Buddha. You my friend, have not realized that state. Stage one Bodhisattvas do not know the conscious state of Stage two Bodhisattvas, but Stage two Bodhisattvas clearly understand Stage one, and sit by to watch the mistakes, and help in here and there. Please do not tell people this deviant nonsense about distinguishing Buddha and Lao Zi. It only creates more false thinking. And so far, you are harboring a lot. You actually think "Buddha" is a person, a human, that still exists. He could, but Buddha is not a race of Beings! Neither is "Immortal", and neither Lao Zi or the COUNTLESS Buddhas consider themselves to be higher than each other. Its not about religion and who's best, its about cultivation. Still a distinguishing mind you have. Here's a few questions for you: Have you seen Lao Zi lately? Have you talked to him? Can you travel the heavens? If not, you have not seen Lao Zi, nor the Jade Emperor and have not traveled the Heavens. Have you yourself ended birth and death? Are you still moved by desire, greed, anger, ignorance, money, fame, etc...? If you are still moved by desire, greed, anger, ignorance, money, fame, you are not a Buddha, nor an Immortal and would not have the merit and virtue to even see Lao Zi, let alone recognize a Buddha when you see one. Why do I even bother with this post in general? One word, Deviant. What you are saying will harm people. You need money: You are not a Buddha. Making money by selling cultivation is not the proper way. Make money doing something else and sustain yourself that way. Do not sell to foreigners because they will believe anything that comes from a man playing Taiji Quan, talking words from Dao De Jing, and wearing a robe. The way of Heaven of the Jade Emperor is simple: As a human do good deeds, care for each other, and cultivate. If the family is not at ease, you will never succeed in cultivation, nor in the world. If you have a family, support the family and do not wish to be any where else; do not take away from the family. Work, but do wholesome work. Do not convince others, but help them in their own endeavors. The merit and virtue accrued will allow you to enter the heavens, but one thought of selfishness will land you right back into the hellsof your own mind. Peace. No. If my Quan Zhen Dao; Hua Shan Pai Shifu were to hear this man's words, she would tell him to leave the temple instantly and request I never speak with him again. A genuine cultivator finds no difference in the beings who bring wisdom and compassion to living beings. They look at the teachings expounded to understand the causes for how the living beings attained such teachings. Do you or any one else understand? There is no separating here. Lao Zi, Meng Zi, Kong Zi, Shakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Earth Store Bodhisattva... who's putting each other on a pedestal? It seems people just can't read between the lines. Peace, Lin The Buddha was an Arhat. 4th Level Arhat. The Buddha was a Human, ordinary in all dealings. The Buddha was a mother, a father, a child, a dog, bird, insect. Which one is higher than the other? All held the Buddha Nature, and all still do... What distinguishes a Realized Buddha from the rest, is that he is Realized, not intellectualized. Complete in Wisdom, there is nothing defiled in his mind. "Karma ended, emotions empty, defines a true Buddha. Karma heavy and emotions turbid, defines a living being."

Wonderful article! That should be in bookstores! Is it? I hope so.
  24. Secrets of Universe

Nice. Very nice. Yes, it is a me that wrote many words..really? How much more word play is going to be used. Directly expounding the teachings, living beings remain confused. In the confusion they claim others to be confused. Looking through dust, one sees dust. When will living beings just stop looking through? Peace, Lin
