How on earth do you keep a meditative and connected state 24x7?
林愛偉 replied to BaguaKicksAss's topic in Daoist Discussion
:-) Know that you were never disconnected in the first place, only pre-occupied with everything else that you thought would keep you connected. These ebbs and flows are not true reality, only relative reality. Don't worry about them... :-) -

Life continues, it doesn't end, thus the idea of life and death itself is an illusion. The mind changes, the karmic conditions change, thus a new form manifests fit for the vibration of karma at that time, which is influenced from various other manifestation of itself. Thus the mind which continues to attach to what it manifests, will always be subject to its relative outcomes. Things are only thought to be "new" because what was learned prior to the current life expression was forgotten, but not wiped out. Its influence is still there, hence a lifetime of ups and downs which seem to be a mystery in cause, sexual desire, which is misconceived as being something "natural" in the sense of being human, etc.

I highly recommend, as a reference for everyone here, and a safe-guard for the mind and their cultivation, to read and contemplate The Shurangama Sutra: 50 Skandha Demon States chapter; it is the last chapter, volume 8. Commentary by Master Xuan Hua.

Meditating lessens the momentum of our thoughts and takes away from nourishing the conditioned reactions and roots of our responses. Sex, or desire is a condition, not a nature, so meditation is doing its thing when afterwards you don't want sex, or don't feel emotionally controlled by the senses. I say you are getting good results...but there is still too much false thinking to actually get any further. Also there are far too many misconceptions about human nature, sexual desire and emotional stimulation, that the slightest non_feeling state becomes a fear mongering conception. hahaha When you are less controlled by emotion, senses and desire, one's efforts in their practice are going to produce good results.

God still roams through the desire heavens, and thus still subject to birth and death. Empowering pleasures, sense desires and grasping at them only hinder one's "spiritual" path. hahaha some funny stuff happening on TTB. One hand how vegetarianism is a hindrance to cultivation and now indulging in pleasures to emulate a god... Amituofo. lol

When you do this, they will find it very much appreciated, and welcome you in even more, all because you respected their traditions and beliefs. I did this when on my first visit to Tai Shan's Bi Xia Ci on the top of the mountain back in 2004. Made a world of a difference. Also when I met my flesh bodied Daoist teacher in 2004. Its a golden exchange for a priceless experience.

Bring fruit in threes. Perhaps 3,6 or 9 of any type of fruit you wish to bring. Offer it to the temple, or head of temple. Upon entering, check to see if there is an alter placed before a main hall, if there is , offer a bow with palms together, better to offer 3. When going to engage in a conversation with any of the monks, or cultivators, while saying hello, palms together at the heart, and a slight bow, without looking at the eyes. Then begin your conversation. Offer the fruit to the cultivator or person, monk, who greets you and say it is for the temple. Then if there are any other alters around, it would be a sign of openness and harmony if you bowed to each alter. This can be done after greeting the people at the door when walking in. You can then request to pay your respects and bow at their alters. When leaving, a single bow to all the alters is enough, but 3 is good, yet, its okay for one. Then make sure you greet each person in your immediate vision before leaving with hands together at heart level and a slight bow. Enjoy!
