Jewels in the ashes of masters, adepts, saints etc.
林愛偉 replied to Patrick Brown's topic in General Discussion
What is one realizing...? Cultivating realization is saying that you are practicing methods that will allow your self to realize ... that the world is round... the sky changes colors throughout the day... that different realms have different karmic conditions and the function of mind differs according to those conditions...realizing that all one had to do was just put down the want for attaining, and simply realize that what was to be attained, was always there. Cultivating for wisdom is just the cultivation of putting down false thinking so the realization that inherent knowledge is not dependent upon worldly knowledge. Then, utilizing that knowing to teach others without them causing more afflictions is wisdom... The Wisdom mind is simply that which is not confused any longer. The realized mind is that which is devoid of doubts. Both realization and wisdom only differ by the manner of its application... one can realize that they are indeed Buddhas, but because there is a view of realizing that one is a Buddha, they still have not gained the wisdom to put down the view of Non-Buddha and Buddha....A fine line indeed... A flip of the hand. Peace, Lin -
Jewels in the ashes of masters, adepts, saints etc.

There will be ashes...after all, the body is being burned, but some parts crystalize, turn to Sharira. Its quite simple though. Those who do not cultivate Buddhism in this life get cremated and nothing appears in their ashes. Those who cultivated Buddhism in this life, and did so properly, have a greater percentage of manifesting Sharira in their ashes. Purifying the body is through purification of the mind: of the karma of body, mouth and mind. Thus, the mind reaches higher states, and the body transforms to accommodate. Pure Land cultivation is a "faster" means of cultivating to attain wisdom in this life, and the Sharira is one of the responses of proper cultivation and rebirth in the Pure Land. Some great sages even proclaimed that when they are to be cremated, that if their translation of the sutras was proper, then his tongue would not burn in the fire during cremation..the tongue wasn't burnt. That sage was named Kumarajiva. Some Buddhist cultivators when cremated formed 18 Lo Hans (Arhats) ...some formed monks sitting in meditation... one cultivator formed an image of a Buddha sitting in meditation right in her heart. I have no time to search for these pics, but they are there. Its late for me now, so I am off to rest. To learn more about them in some detail, look up Buddha Speaks Amitabha Sutra, or the signs of being reborn in the Pure Land. Also, the vows of Amitabha Buddha. There should be more info there. Sharira: Crystalization of the body due to purification of the mind in Buddhist cultivation. It is a very common thing, happens a lot to diligent cultivators, and is a sign that the cultivators were in practice of and expounded proper Buddhist Teachings. In Pure Land cultivation, it is a sign of proper cultivation and re-birth in Amitabha Buddha's Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. People receive responses in their cultivation through being reborn in the middle of their cultivation while their body remains standing, sitting or lying. Body remains warm to a degree..soft and flexible, and does not stink after days on leaving it out in the open . More signs of rebirth than this, but they require one to have eyes to see the Triple Jewel; Amitabha Buddha, Guan Yin and Great Strength Bodhisattva actually coming and taking one to the Pure Land. The Sharira are formed when cremation takes place. Unfortunately for skeptics, it is not from the temperature from the heat mixing with the bones and calcium, blah blah blah. Literally from purifying the body from poisons and transforming it to a proper Dharma vessel, the body will crystalize. The Buddha left Sharira, and so did many high level cultivators, both left home and lay. One can find pics on line...google search : Sharira of Xuan Hua Shangren...or www.baidu.com, and type in: Xuan Hua Shangren Sharira then click on the character next to MP3 and then enter. You should get a page of pics, or links that show you pics... Peace and Blessings, Lin -

The funny thing is, its just a laugh. Worrying too much on what kind of laugh only creates more false thinking. I knew that sending the laugh would cause a stir, and that I would be explaining such a thing... That is even more funnier than the first thing I laughed at. That which is expected, arrives only with the stillness of mind. The unexpected arrives when guest dust never leaves. Peace and Blessings.... Lin -

Its a two-fold situation... Unfortunate turn of events, ...ironically some of people's doubts of the lineage are being answered...cleared... I think it is funny...but I am not laughing at the misfortune or the fortune. Just the madness that manifests from all of it... Especially the part about the laughter. Peace, Lin -

While in the ocean, bobbing up and down on the waves of turbidity, patience, and wisdom is needed in order to reach the other shore. Regardless of any government's plans, we must hold fast to virtue, morality, and be good examples for those confused, greedy, ignorant and full of anger. Peace, Lin

Hearing the Cries of the World By Lin Ai Wei Living Beings are indeed hard to teach. Their difficulty lies in the mind of the teacher teaching, only when it comes to teaching. Their difficulty with their own life lies in their own mind. When saying "the world" it is only in reference to living beings, not the actual world. The world exists because of living beings, the minds of living beings that is. Therefore, the problems of the world are only of the minds of living beings. They are tightly attached to their views of self. Views of self create the myriad experiences they base their personality, character, behavior and habits on. When a teacher of the Buddha Dharma, or any Dharma which results in wisdom, teaches a living being, be it an insect, animal, fish, human, etc, the conditions of the one being taught are what is sought after. Sought after refers to the observing the causes and conditions within the mind, and utilizing them as an expedient to transform. Hearing the cries of the world thus refers to the observation of the minds of living beings. The world is because of living beings. No living beings, no world to experience. When there is happiness, there will be suffering. This is because the happiness sought after by unwise beings is based on the causes and conditions for happiness, which change. It is based on the relative. The happiness of Sages are not based on causes and conditions in relativity but based on the attainment of wisdom, the mind of purity. When suffering is seen, and believed to be a difficulty, the mind observing has the causes for that state to arise. Thus, the world seems unfair, living beings of the world seem ignorant, greedy, and angry, arrogant. Because these views arise in the minds of living beings, the result is just what they keep in mind. When living beings hold on to these views for a long time, they forget that good also exists, and or they perceive good to be short term, unreal, and thus imagination. What they do not realize is that what is known as imagination is just the mind; what they know as happiness, sadness, and all their experiences are too of the mind. There is no separation. Generation after generation, living beings hold on to their views so tightly that the world is just as their views are. Some people live with views of peace and goodness, but are seen as ignorant, unrealistic and not rational. Some people hold on to views of needing to struggle, connive, and cut corners through people in order to get what they want. These views are seen as the norm to an extent. Of course this is just a generalization, and they can be further discussed, but it will take up too much time to do so. In reality, actual, non-dual reality, both views are totally non-existent. They simply do not matter. The reason they do not matter, is because originally, there were none of these thoughts. These thoughts create the experience in the mind because that is their relative outcome. Thus, the world we experience is only a figment of our mind, a dream, a bubble, its not real at all..at least its not the reality living beings assume reality is. This manner leads people to question what the real reality is. And the only answer is Meditation. Living beings must meditate, clear the mind of their views in order to actually realize what true "reality" is. One can explain it, but still, living beings must come to realize it, or it will only be another false thought. Originally, we are all Buddhas. But because of our attachment to views of self, beings, other and a life span, we are not realized Buddhas, but defiled minds of the Buddha mind. The method to free oneself of attachments to views is simply to meditate and recitation. Recite the Buddha name in order to plant the seeds of your future attainment of Pure and Complete Enlightenment. Plant the seeds of your Buddhahood, of your attainment of wisdom. Meditation is the method, and so is recitation. None of it is mechanical and none of it is false. Reciting the Buddha's name is not false thinking, for our original mind is just the Buddha mind. Therefore, we are reciting our own original mind. Teachers, Sages hear the cries of the world, hear/see the causes and conditions of the minds of living beings and respond to them in accordance with these causes and conditions. This way, living beings can be taught how to cultivate, how to accept the teachings without doubt, and thus one day attain inherent wisdom which surpasses worldly wisdom.

Maybe it doesn't show because of one specific way of confronting Tibetan Lamaism, but I have never barred any religion, nor put them down for their teachings. Simply point out certain things that are not representations of their teachings. Yet, thanks for the mirror. I will make sure I am even more clear on how I present things. There are many Tibetan Lamas that have real solid and genuine cultivation. Just not the majority and not what we see commercially. Daoism in the west has become commercial as well...there are those who are genuine in their cultivation, and those who are not clear as to what genuine represents. Yet, its in all manners of cultivation, and Buddhism in general is no exception. Buddhism went from Educational Cultivation, to Religion, to Philosophy and to deviant cults. It has been this way with other paths as well. Daoism, historically, had its share of egotistical and arrogant teachers with only spiritual powers, which in turn resulted in unpleasant outcomes. Not one cultivation school is exempt from ignorant behavior and ego, arrogance, greed, anger...etc. It is the few that actually uphold good virtue and moral, and those few do not waste time putting themselves out there on a pedestal to a degree, gaining recognition and fame, money, students, etc... just the bare necessities and its enough for them. Peace and Blessings Brother, Lin

Point out my flaws...find them and I will correct them. Yet, in recognizing other's flaws, one must reflect upon them self, for they too might be as deluded as they see the other person. Its been fun, but discussing things with you will be a waste of energy. Before your ego gets more inflated...keep in mind I'm not going to play this debate game about my ways with head mouth cultivators. Peace and Blessings..and bash away Lin

Hi Everyone, I have been thinking about this for a long time. I may be able to have chinese clothing made and then ship it out to the U.S., or where ever you may be. I live out in China, and have my clothing made because I cannot buy simple chinese clothing out here. I bought most in america, NY, and the rest of my wardrobe has been handmade. Not expensive, but there are conditions, like ordering in bulk to save shipping costs, and placing a deposit down for buying the fabric and such. It will take time to organize more properly. Since I am not opening a grand business, the prices for the clothing will not be madly expensive, nor near to it. More expensive is the shipping. That is why I say buying in bulk is more worth it. I will be taking picutres of the clothes, and will post them on line. But first I wouldlike to know who is interested, so I do not put time in to preparing possibilities, when I could be meditating. I know the market prices for chinese clothing in stores, and on the internet. It is a rip off. I will give you an idea of a price... A Chang Pao (A long gown, with buttons on the chest and right side of body) usually costs about 300U.S. online, or close to it. Buying the fabric and having it made costs me betwen 15-30 U.S. dollars. depending on the fabric, and it has been done cheaper. I say bulk is better. Buying the fabric, getting it made and shipping it and having it arrive at your place ,should take within 1 - 2 months time. Shipping from china takes about 4-6weeks, as I have experienced. Once I find out different prices for shipping, I will list them so those who order will know what they are paying for. Let me know what you think, and I will get to work on the finer details. Peace,

Very good. I can flap all day long and it doesn't mean a thing. Who is turned by the turbulence...now that should be investigated. Pulling my statements out without reference to the whole point corrupts readers of your response. Its best to not post a commentary unless the original is available in your response so others can form an idea not based on your misunderstanding of what I wrote. As well, when commenting on something that is not on this forum, such as my comments about Tibetan Lamaism, its best to leave it out unless you have the reference to my statements. In This way, you will help to promote Proper views for others in giving them a place to look up what you are talking about, instead of leaving them to your own ideas about someone elses comments that you again misunderstand. Peace, Lin

3 months is nothing. People have been researching this since Kennedy was assassinated. There was a plan by the CIA to fly planes into buildings in Florida with Cuban flags on the wings of the planes, just to make it look like Cuba was terrorizing the U.S. Then, the gov here would have a "reason" to go to war with Cuba. This plan was in the works a long time ago, and it was one of the reasons of Kennedy's assassination. Whether you believe it or not doesn't matter. Everything that is happening now was told to people 20,30,40,50,60+ years ago. Small steps. My father was telling me about rfid chips back in the mid 80's when I was only a young young boy. I didn't believe it.. NOW its happening. He told me about the prescription drugs and how they will be common place among children...and blood tests in companies to tell whether you will be covered by insurance or not, hired or not based on the probability of getting a sickness that was in your family 3 generations ago.. haha And its already happening. There's too much to show, but none of it will change your mind...and nor should anyone try to change another's views about this. Enjoy yourself, stay in the view you have, because that's all there is a capability for. One can only understand something by the power of their own karmic conditions. Regardless of where this thread is posted, it will be there. I'm glad its in this forum. WHY? You so called Daoists out there complaining that this has nothing to do with Daoism are just confused. There are 3 levels of application in cultivation: Personal, Societal and Heavenly. So, this has all and everything to do with Daoist cultivation. YET, do not attach strong emotions and views about these things. Inform, and change behavior, habits, character..then you are creating the conditions for proper cultivation to wattain complete wisdom and transcend. Know what is in your mind, know what is being imposed due to your own ignorance, and change your views about it. It simply comes down to how afraid one is to change from their own comfortable views to that which is "uncomfortable". Enjoy! Peace, Lin

I don't live in China anymore, so its difficult to find someone who can make these clothes. I have been looking around, but the prices are too high for me to consider offering it as cheap as I was before. Before, the prices were simply the cost of material and labor. I take no profit. Now, its the cost of labor, material, and tax. Its no longer a few renminbi, now its atleast of 100 dollars for a robe to be made out here in NY. Ridiculously high. So, basically, until I create my own textile company, haha, I won't be making any clothes. Sorry for the inconvenience. Peace and Blessings, Lin

Internal or external, you will be using your muscles regardless. Its only called internal because of the utilizing of the joints, and positioning, the cultivation of mind and strengthening of the organs. External only refers to the use of full out muscular force over anything else. Strengthening the muscles, hardening them to take blows...this is all external. In the end, if your body has been well cultivated in mind and in form, then you have succeeded in both internal and external. There is no real difference at that level, and all movements all attacks and defenses will be done with a body transformed, so using muscles isn't using muscles, its using the whole body properly cultivated. That is Taiji of Taiji Quan, That is Bagua of Bagua Zhang, Xin Yi of Xin Yi Quan, and truthfully, Wing Chun, but people get caught up in the quick fix fighter mentality and the great majority are terrible at it regardless of Wing Chun's practicality. So before all this internal, external talk becomes more talk, getting to actually understand those terms is most helpful. 内功= inner strength. 外功= outer strength. 气功= breath strength. Inner Strength means cultivating the tendons, muscles, bones, joints and positioning, as well as strengthening the organs and their functions. One must have a still mind to succeed. Outer Strength relies solely on momentum and body conditioning for muscular strength. Qi Gong= Breath Strength, is a generic term for energetic cultivation utilizing breath, mind and body. Qi and Nei are terms referring to cultivating breath to strengthen body. When fighting, if your inner strength is well developed, then your body, muscles and all, would have been transformed to a meaning of being able to take hits naturally, hit and have explosive force naturally without utilizing too much muscular use. Over all, there will be muscular use in any of the internal arts. If there wasn't any muscular use, how would you keep your body moving, standing.. haha The principle is to utilize form and structure to maximize force and substance without using more than you need. That means enough, not less, not more...We say in Taiji Quan "Invest in Loss", said by Grandmaster Zheng Man Qing. It refers to just enough. when you need to use less, use less, but that less is still enough to overcome the oncoming force. One can cultivate for internal strength. AND whatever method they use to hit someone will carry the force of their internal cultivation. So one can practice Wushu, and all the hard Shaolin fist styles, but cultivate Neigong, and learn to move properly in their forms and applications, then their hits and root would be well developed and they will have their internal force present and exerted when they hit someone, or if they are hit...if hit they would have protection. Peace and Blessings, Lin

They probably had other chances to meet up and challenge each other, but that one incident on the video, doesn't show them face to face, never shows how they begin...only being charged and taken down. Eh, I'm not concerned really. Not going to argue anymore because its not real Wing Chun anyway. Peace, Lin The letter on there actually was the minutes of a formal meeting of the heads of Wing Chun in Hong Kong. My Sifu has the original copy, and never gave it out to any martial arts magazine. Someone else must have had copies from another member at that meeting. Peace, Lin

Emin Boztepe never challenged William Cheung. He sucker punched him from the blind side of the peripheral vision. Anyone getting hit like that will fall to the ground instantly. William Cheung never saw it coming, neither would almost anyone... After the hit, Emin rushed William and while dazed and shocked, William only could cover himself from getting hit. There was never a challenge made formal or informally. Only a walking from behind the man and sucker punching him in the face. Terrible Terrible Terrible. I highly doubt that Emin would win against William in a proper challenge, proper competition. Not that I like William Cheung's Wing Chun. BUT a proper challenge is just proper. Peace, Lin
