HAHA The students of the temple were actually freezing, but we dealt with it for the sake of real gong fu cultivation. Also, when out Sifu hit us in the cold, we remembered how it felt and made sure to fix our mistakes so we don't get beat up by him a seconod time.. but he still can beat us up! Fun Stuff! Fortunately, there will be no beating up of anyone during our cultivation meet. We all have our own thoughts that beat us up all the times...lol So no need to emphasize it. Bring sitting pillows because I don't have the resources to provide. It is very grassroots cultivation. Almost like being in a forest in the elements, but with a roof over our heads...not the sky hahahahaha Peace, Lin

Wu Ji (Chi) The beginning of that which is before form is called Wu Ji. This description is only one of many, but it is close to the truth of what Wu Ji actually is. It is common knowledge, through translation, that Wu Ji means the great nothingness. What is not certain is what is actually pertains to both on a physical level and energetic one. Let's go deep and look energetically. Before all movement, emotion, word, thought, there is nothing. Now in order for nothing to exist, it must be known as something, so therefore it actually has a form, it exists. Nothingness exists, and has form. What is this form? It is no form, therefore we say it does not begin and it does not end. It is what is known as a void, and still the void does have form. Nothing is still something, and that is what the void is. it is the realm of consciousness where all things are embraced in. The void embraces all things. Let us go physically. The end result of all imagination, all intention, all manifestation is the physical realm. From nothingness, there is a spark of consciousness, of desire, of thought, and this thought eventually takes shape. Let us prove it. When the chair was created, how did the image of a chair manifest? A person decided to better create a means of sitting, and thus imagined the image. The image came from desire, desire to have comfort. Instead of sitting on the floor, one decided to create a physical structure which holds the body in a higher manner. The physical manifestation of a chair came from the thought, the thought from desire, and desire from thought, and lastly thought and desire from an dinstant manifestation, from movement of the mind in Wu Ji. Now we have an idea of how things are created physically. One is constantly moving through this Wu Ji state, yet it is due to conditions, thoughts, emotions/desire and the like that the mind is not aware of being there. It is not a separate thought to say that one is in Wu Ji. It is a natural state.. yet is not the highest state of consciousness attainable. How to practice being in this state? There is no being in this state since we are already in it, but there is a realizing of this state through meditation. Sometimes it is reached through sitting cultivation(meditation, or through moving cultivation, commonly known as Taiji Quan. Taiji Quan is the moving from Wu Ji to Taiji and returning to Wu Ji. It is moving from no form to form and returning to the place of no form. In actuality, one is not moving at all, and there is no returning. To attain this state of consciousness, meditation is the only method. The cultivation of not giving rise to and not ending thought is the most difficult to master, and through the efforts, realization of Wu Ji will be attained. If this is thoght to be the highest level to reach, the cultivator will not go further. It is only a small level of attainment, but it takes a high level of cultivation to reach this state. Through sitting, or moving(Taiji Quan) one can condition the mind to focus directly to one place, and thus all thoughts, except that of directling to movement, or direction itself, will cease on its own (transform) and lead the mind to attainment of Wu Ji. There are many levels of this cultivation as one continues their practice, and it is by no means the means, or the end of one's cultivation of Wu Ji through Taiji Quan. The benefits of cultivation in any manner to transform thoughts, because thoughts are energy first, are innumerable. Why? Because it is all dependant on one's conditions that they will experience life the way they do, and with the mind they have. This means one cannot generalize the benefits of this attainment, or anyother attained level of consciousness. What can be said is that if one's mind is clear from excess desire, emotional stimulation, false thinking(imagining too much), and intellectual stimulation of any sort, they will attain a strength within that will only grow, and lead one to live a more peaceful, clear and balanced life. The outcome of such a clear and focused mind is also an inner strength that will cause one's mind to be unmoveable. Hence the no fear; no emotion, calm and serene ancient ones who had attained high levels of cultivation. THey were able to detach the mind from all associations and relations of condition, and that also goes for Wu Ji consciousness.

Eyes in standing cultivation can be in many manners. One is wide open, gazing at a slight 45 degree angle downward. Actually, that would be pretty normal for them. Blinking would be minimized naturally while concentration of breath and posture is enhanced. One can close the eyes and keep concentration on breath throughout the body, or direct energy where one wishes to cultivate it in. Slightly opened is fine and the eyes should be peering out from the slits of the eyelids without strain. Some standing cultivation require one to keep the eyes on the hands, or to peer through the finger spaces when the fingers are separated. Others have the eyes follow the hands if the arms are moving. Fun Stuff! Peace, Lin

Uh Oh! Are you insisting we do some Cauldron Heating Cultivation??? Then we'll keep it scheduled at my Gong Fu Temple, (Temple of Discipline.. haha) for it is a temple actually, small but functionable. If I hear of any place more suitable, I will check things out. Peace and Blessings, Lin There's always in the future... Its a good way to see how one heats up from just basic meditation. lol Peace, Lin

Also, We can use my Gong Fu school, but there is no heating in the school, though there are heating fans and a propane heater, it gets a bit nippy in there. In the past, while in NY, my gongfu brothers and I would practice in the freezing cold, with no heater, in the winter, and in the summer with no AC. The school has no windows, yet has a big thick door. In the summer we used to make the walls sweat! hahaha literally. Anywho... it would be cold, but I am sure not freeezzziiiiinnnnng cold..maybe. HAHAHA I will look for something a bit more comfortable, but if I can't considering I'm out here, we'll use my school in Brooklyn. It would be an "Old School" Cultivation Weekend. We'll Be sure to eat our fill of Bitterness for 2 days.. HAHAHAHA Peace, Lin

Okay, time is getting near to when I must be sure who will be attending the cultivation weekend in Feb 16 and 17th. The place may be in a local hotel meeting room, without table possibly. First, must be clear on who will attend. I need to know by Dec. 15th, of this year, on the amount of people coming, and who they are bringing. Space really isn't limited, but I need to know what kind of space I will rent for us for the 3 2 day cultivation meet. The information is in a previous posting for anyone new to the thread. Simply email me personally at : [email protected] Subject titled: Cultivation Weekend RSVP Some have done so already, and so they do not have to do it again. May you all be well. Peace and Blessings, Lin

Yes. Its called false thinking. It will cause other students to want the state you reached, and it will become a hindrance to their own cultivation and ability. Peace, Lin

Actually, the Buddhist approach is to stand, and not give rise to the thought of standing. So its as though you are not standing at all. Because really, though we call it standing, it is only a perception of body.. hahaha So the focus of breath is to the belly, but if the practitioner has a problem with the lungs, they can breathe into the chest for certain outcomes. THis reason is because in breathing to the belly, it isn't just the belly that should be expanding. Its that the belly expands "first" and then the chest begins to fill and expand. There are several manners in which to breathe, several ways to expand the belly, lower back, chest, scapulae all with breath. With this kind of cultivation in the Buddhist school, the purpose is to strengthen the body, clear any sickness from the body as well and work on further mind cultivation. But it goes further, because I also know of movement and forms related to certain Buddhas and Bodhisattva taught as an expedient to healing the body, strengthening determination, energetic cultivation as well. THe list can go on. You can do it as long as you want. That is all up to you, and a basic exercise would be to simply stand and place your arms to the sides with your palms facing forward for a few minutes, yet the arms slightly rounded, and another one would be palms facing behind you, arms slightly rounded as well. Too much to write on the benefits of it, but it assists in two different breathing manners, both very good for you and regulates organ functions, anchors in patience mind and develops rooting ability. When our body is healthy, the mind is healthy. Mind is healthy , the body is healthy. Good things attract pleasant conditions. Good stuff...eh? hehe Peace, Lin

Interesting That piece is talking about the mind of living beings being capable of understanding different teachings. Some have the capacity to cultivate certain teachings which results in a more "faster" enlightening of the mind, and others cannot, which results in a more "gradual". The manner of "godly" and "nihilistic" is actually their teachings of non-duality and the utilizing of conditions to drop views. This is probably where the "mind is all that exists" idea came from. Because all things arise in the mind, and unenlightened beings are usually prone to attaching to what they experience, thus causing more confusion to themselves. I see what you mean when it comes to the many Buddhas existing, and then there is talk of emptiness. They mean really that all Buddhas are of the nature, but only utilize different characteristics to those living beings who resonate with them (certain characteristics) most. Its not hard to explain. It just depends on where the mind is when understanding it all. So, emptiness and the manner of many Buddhas actually reflect the functions of the mind; There is no-mind, but the simple movement of thoughts, arising of thought and or attachment to thought makes there become a separation, thus the mannerisms of mind. All things arise in mind, mind is arises in all things. Both are interchangeable, and when one is dropped the other is soon to follow. The Buddhas arise in the mind's of living beings. No minds of living beings, no Buddhas. Peace and Blessings, Lin

They do, I agree..yet those weaknesses are all only according to the cultivator Peace and Blessings, Lin

I'm not claiming that Lei Shan Dao came from Buddhism.. haha so I hope you all don't worry about that. WHat I am saying is there are loads of methods within Buddhism not readily seen by cultivators. These methods only are revealed either by a master who has cultivated them, or knows them well and has attained high level then teaches them, OR through one's diligent cultivation, with a foundation of virtue, and moral. I will not lay claims of what any master has done, or can do now. What I will say is that it is a shame that the more in depth methods of Buddhism cannot be available to living beings until they are well cultivated to accept them. It is a pity that Buddhism and Daoism cannot shine in its completeness on this planet. Yet at the same time it is best certain things stay within the hands of well cultivated and responsible beings. If power methods get to irresponsible people, many will get hurt, and many have. Buddhism was in China before Bodhidharma came. Many Buddhist masters were arguing with each other as many do today about whose teaching representation is best, who is enlightened, more detached, etc. And we have it amongst lay people too! He set things straight with the Mind to Mind Seal of Chan cultivation. Then, "Left". Not to say everyone who cultivates Buddhism will become enligthened in one lifetime, all depends on their conditions. Same thing with Daoist cultivation. A state experienced is only passing, and power attainment doesn't come from one lifetime of cultivation. There may be some significant abilities attained, but not 100% of the ability. Also, not all Daoist cultivators, lay and left home, are the honest of people. Where my Shifu lives, in Taian, at her temple, the head of the temple takes the bulk of the money offered to the temple for herself, all the healthy and good food for herself, and leaves everyone with less than 100yuan a month and some rice, noodles and preserved salted vegetables. There is rivalry in all factions of cultivation amongst egotistic beings despite what they cultivate. I always say that as long as the system cultivated is founded on wholesome values, and tuaght with the foundations of virtue and a moral mind, then it is safe and wouldn't purposely lead to one becoming evilly influenced. Peace and Blessings Brother, Lin

Buddhism doesn't believe the mind exists. They don't take refuge in their mind. Daoism, if not cultivated properly, only takes you to states, not the original mind. Buddhism helps you understand the mind, the states that arise, and drop it to reveal the original nature, which is not mind. The difference between Buddhism and Daoism is that along the lines people got attached to states and sensations, power and searched for that only, thinking it was the way to actual "oneness, Dao, Nirvana." The name Buddhism was only given to let people know what the methods help you attain. Dao was a name given to let people realize the manner in which to cultivate in order to see the original nature of things. To the relative mind, there is Dao, Buddha. To the completely enlightened mind, there is no separation. Peace and Blessings, Lin

This video was pretty accurate on a lot of things concerning how one can gain teachings given they are virtuous and moral beings in character and mind. Peace and Blessings, Lin

Animals are still subject to their causes and conditions. Just because animals do things, doesn't mean it is proper. Nature may embrace, but it isn't nature embracing, it is the conditions of the mind playing out. There is nothing fundamental about it..lol It is as it is. This isn't the only life, physical body, living beings have. Things have been playing out for thousands, millions of years beyond what we all know things to be. So if we see a male tiger licking up on another male tiger, it doesn't mean it is natural, it just means they are just subject to their own conditions which they are ignorant to. Funny thing is the path I am "on" has no moral grounding, has no virtue and has no guidelines. When one knows the mind, they realize it is conditions which one sees through. When those are dropped, the conditions are no longer used, and there is clarity. The true nature of things isn't a state of mind, there are no conditions dictating how things should go. The ten thousand things hold yin and embrace yang, but that is within duality, and duality is not the original nature of things. not attached to heterosexuality..lol just sitting here with a big old chan stick, slapping the mind into the all pervasive "Now" that is still a state of mind hoping it falls and dissipates altogether...lol Far from moral dogma Peace and Blessings, Lin P.S.- Dao, Buddhism...it is all cultivation and all can work with it...yet few get to the core...

There are obviously many levels to zhan zhuang, and not all of them require one to stand in low stances. The first few levels of practice are knowing the body, connecting everything, visualization and will and intent development. But as one goes further, standing becomes keys that unlock and allow higher energies to enter, transform, and raise the energy of the mind as well as the body. Levels after that bring in higher teachings, abilities, transformation of body, healing deep rooted sicknesses, cancers. Levels after that get one to states of communication with other realms, and learning teachings of other realms, light beings, and ..well the list can go on. Not much is talked about when it comes to the higher levels of practice in zhan zhuang, and that is because some don't know, aren't sure and or haven't gotten to those levels. Another reason is that those beings who have reached high levels only reserve that knowledge in practice for those of high virtue in cultivation, such as holding to proper views, and conduct. There is a lot involved in cultivation and like I said some time before, of all Daoist and Buddhist knowledge on this planet, there is only about 20% of it available publicly and on this Earth. If the complete lot of teachings were available now, this Earth can go in two directions; One either extremely totalitarian; as we see it with just technology, politics and money, but with power involved and high level beings roaming the Earth influencing on a massive scale, their own will. OR People turning around altogether in a positive like development, influencing each other in good, wholesome ways. In this scenario, almost all of our worldly problems would transform, dissipate. Bisexuality is still a view of mind. It is a condition of the mind, and is thus a view, thoughts used to associate what is what in one's experience of mind. It is by no means one's original nature, only a state of mind. Genetics is not an excuse for it either, for what forms one's body is mind. It is only a state of mind, and if there is an attachment to those conditions, then the result is experiencing a mind of bisexuality, not one's original nature. basically, you are right in one aspect, that it is mental baggage, yet it is still a mental condition "baggage", ,and it shouldn't be viewed as a personality trait, only a state of mind... conditions being moved by wind that will eventually pass...OR get attached to, and acted upon resulting in the experience of what one views it to be. Peace, Lin

One associates men with loving and compassionate thoughts as ..."gay-minded". Actually it is fine. Also embracing the loving compassionate mind through wisdom is very important if one is to keep a balance energetically and in mind as well. So that would mean, if you have begun to realize loving feelings, thoughts of compassion and togetherness, that doesn't mean you need a physical act to balance them, nor does it mean you need to consider yourself as homosexual. None of those would balance out anything. All you need to do is realize how to utilize the mind of compassion and togetherness without associating it to preferences/views. Thoughts of love and whatnot for men and or women are only that way because we associate views to them. Other than that, they mean nothing. So, meditation will allow a more patient, compassionate and loving mind to manifest, yet it is the association we have in mind towards those things which makes us think they are a certain way. :-) Peace, Lin

If your concentration is strong, then you will receive what you intend, will for. THere is always enough, so no one will be losing money, and th women you attract will be resonating with you, so it isn't against her will. Likeness attracts, opposites oppose. If you will it, and concentrate long and hard, you are sure to receive it. Peace, and Blessings, Lin
