The Daoists and Buddhists look for the cultivation of the beings, not their money. The marketing schee of some is to pay for their initiations. The initiations of some Buddhist practices are not actually 100% Buddha Dharma, and thus the beings claiming it may not be genuine. On the other hand, initiation ceremonie are only guidelines to strengthen one's resolve in their cultivation. By no means necessary, but may be necessary if the cultivator has the conditions to need the initiations. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  2. Man Love

No hair is a symbol of purity, just as a baby with no hair in the womb at some point. For some with high virtue, the hair just falls out off their scalps...lol Fun. Also the no hair cultivates everyone as the same, almost looking the same physically. It can be seen as a method to aid in cultivating non discrimination. The dots on the head are vows. The burning of incense is the making of vows. To know you have something out of place on the head, makes you more humble...in that everyone who sees, who is not a monk, will laugh. Either way, it was for precept/vow taking. The full lotus is like a Vajra (Diamond) even like a triangle, and can be seen as a posture for cultivating power. Its physical structure allows the spine to be straight, with practice, stretches the spleen, liver and kidney meridians: which is good in order to have a more relaxed manner in mind for if spleen and or liver is not well, lots of emotional problems arise, headaches, etc. And last but not least, the lotus pos. brings in more energy, keeps the mind sharper leading to better concentration. The Buddhas have all realized Complete Pure Enlightenment through full lotus as well. That maybe saying something. Peace, Lin Telling someone is not the point. Tell the or not and it will still be the same until it isn't. Liking things and living styles, emotions, desires...all conditional and can be changed. Look for the conditions present and they can be if chosen to. All of these things are only conditional. If one can make the tides come in and out when they want, that is an outcome of cultivation, and good affinities with the Dragon Spirits of that ocean. If one tells another "Hey, you are wrong change." And the other changes without returning to it, it was the right tie to change. Conditional. A beings real nature is not homosexual. That is only an outcome of conditions. A persons living conditions are dictated by their karma. Until they change their karma, they are subject to it. It has nothing to do about morality, but has everything to do with causes and outcomes. Peace, Lin

You can, with wise one's though. With cultivating and requesting teachings, one has to have wise eyes to know the difference between a true wise being, and one out to control you. Practice, that's how the eyes cultivate. Some want to control and use you to do their own wishes, not so much as enter the body, but influence the mind. Wise beings would only come now and then to pass on a method, and leave you to the work, but they would guide in your practice with certain important foundations, and then go. This is one of the mannerisms I call Shen Gong; Intuitive Spiritual Cultivation. It is basically a dropping of the intellectual discriminations and putting down the ego, and with certain intentions and will, one will get responses. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  4. Short Video on Mudra

Thank you for posting one of the interviews with Ven. Master Xuan Hua. The Ghost interview is really good. Usually when we ask for something, the response is obvious. Sometimes we are not paying attention, and the response becomes subtle. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  5. The Term Enlightenment

HAHA If that were to happen, wouldn't you see more good talkers, and still the enlightened beings in the background? Either way, there will be those who find a way to make themselves look the part. Those who are indeed enlightened do not say they are, but teach. Which is better. They themselves know something is up, they know there was once a different mind, and now they are awakened, and enlightened. But telling people only makes them mark what enlightenment should be, and if others don't fit into it, then one can't be enlightened. Marking enlightenment is to divert people off the path. BUT marking it with its expressed characteristics of virtue, and moral...now that is a proper model of enlightenment. Overall, I'm not saying for the real wise beings to sit aside and do nothing, just for the to not go around announcing to the world they are. Let other people give the title, let other people regard one as enlightened. When there are no others who are awakened, and or fakes running around lying about their wisdom in the world, then it is okay to say ...Hey I am this way, and that way...only for the sake of getting the attention to teach wholesome things. But in a world where the majority would utilize almost anything to make money, it is difficult to tell the straight out truth in words, and have everyone believe it. Basically, just be the example. People will find out and spread the word. Peace, Lin
  6. The Term Enlightenment

haha that's why no one should tell anyone they are enlightened. knowing and not knowing is just the same. Peace, Lin
  7. Shen Yi Zhi Dao

I finally edited fully, and worked a music video to one of the three books of Shen Yi Zhi Dao (The Way of Spiritual Intention). I wrote them several yrs ago, and never published them. The time wasn't right. THe first book is open for free...lol, but the next 2 will be reserved to my students. They were written spontaneously, meaning there as no research for it, only cultivation, and BANG! there was a few verses. And it continued like this for 3 yrs, for 3 yrs took me to write 3 manuals on cultivation Of course I forgot how to embed into the thread, so if any one figures it out, please do so Shen Yi Zhi Dao Peace and Blessings , Lin

  9. The Term Enlightenment

If one recognizes a profound change in themselves, that is fine, but never to say "Hey, I'm enlightened. Hi Everyone, I'm enlightened." That's not good. There are so many people who say they are enlightened, but aren't. They sell themselves to the public, and cause people to remain confused. They are not really enlightened, and say they are. This causes people to be confused when a real enlightened person steps forward, and actually teaches something of value. People are like that. False, False =True. True True = False. You give them the false and they think it to be true. Then you give them the truth, and they think it to be false. If anyone on this board is enlightened, it is best to not tell anyone. For in truth, an enlightened being wouldn't say they are, wouldn't agree with anyone that they are. Because when all there is is pure and complete truth, who isn't enlightened? There is no need for distinction, so enlightenment doesn't even exist. Peace, Lin

Enlightened, Not Enlightened... one still has to go to the bathroom just the same. Only difference is less paper to use Peace, Lin

  12. Shen Yi Zhi Dao

I know... its unfortunate that the text moves a bit too fast. I would much rather it be about 2 seconds slower, maybe 3. Pause is good too Peace, Lin
  13. The Law of Karma Thread

Law of Attraction is one manner within the Law of karma. Not separate, only one expression of process within Karma. Basically.. it is still Karma, just changing the name so people can feel something is new. And possibly, the person who made up the term didn't realize it was simply karma, and or he liked new agey concepts. Peace and Blessings, Lin

  16. Hand seals -Mudras of Daoist, buddhist origins?

The eyes are visualizations and eventual energetic centers that appear on the body, but not to the sight of a non cultivator, or a cultivator without certain abilities. The eyes have many functions, but one of them is to be able to see all realms, all minds and all conditions.. as well as see all beings for what they are. Beings here meaning humans, animals, ghosts, spirits, demons, gods, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Immortals, Dragons, etc. The 42 Hands and Eyes in particular function to benefit humanity, the cultivator, and all beings in any shape, form and formless. As with any method, they can be used for harm, and I will not go into those methods..lol For this reason, the hands and eyes of certain cultivation is only passed to those of high virtue, moral, affinity/fate and having done a great number of good deeds. Usually Left home people passed the hands and eyes due to their cultivation of vows/precepts. But there are also lay people who have received them due to their affinities with those who have them, have mastered them to a certain level, and have the capacity to work for the benefit of humanity...not self. Usually in both Daoist and Buddhist schools, only those who show a fine foundation of virtue and moral would receive certain things. Some cultivation in Daoist and Buddhist schools are not for everyone, but can be for everyone. Some mudras are available for anyone who wishes, yet the functions are best realized under personal apprenticeship or close training with someone who has mastered them in beneficial ways. Power utilizing tools are very easily attractive for developing power, and can easily be used for non-beneficial manners. Hence the reserve on teaching and showing them to the masses. Also, not many people believe in them.. haha so not many people get them I do utilize mudras in my practice daily. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  17. Hand seals -Mudras of Daoist, buddhist origins?

Things are getting really interesting on this board lately.. hahaha Certain Mudras in Buddhist cultivation are the 42 Hands and Eyes of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Hands of Great Strength Bodhisattva and also Amitabha Buddha. Almost all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can instruct one to use hands and eyes cultivation for attainment, given the cultivator's capacity of mind and basically, level of cultivation. Some hands and eyes are specifically transmitted, passed to, cultivators of certain levels of cultivation for safety reasons. Not every practice in Buddhism is for everyone, and yet every practice in Buddhism is for everyone. In the Daoist school there are hands (mudras) as well, and they serve basically similar functions as the Buddhist school, for cultivation is simply cultivation. Some functions of Mudras are for ridding on of demons both in and out, developing abilities, wisdom, patience, compassion, ending hunger, sadness, protection from heavenly demons and all demons spirits, etc...the law of man(country and world) made by man, natural disasters, diseases, death, etc... Peace and Blessings, Lin
  18. 26 Vows of Lin Ai Wei

Funny! Vows are not are not made to any god, immortals, or anyone else at all. They are specifically for one's own cultivation. They can be anything that guides you to do things, that are beneficial, you find difficult to accomplish. If it is a vow to attain the highest attainment of any practice, so be it...it will be realized with humility if it is also offered for the sake of living beings.. to help them attain as well. Its a good and wise thing to keep oneself constantly " in check " while on the path cultivating the way. Reading it daily to remind oneself is also good cultivation of keeping to one's vows, until they are memorized and in one's mind constantly...until the results are realized. Peace and Blessings, Lin

It makes sense now.. I was wondering ...lol It would be that there is no you and others.
  20. The Term Enlightenment

Neither are superior my brother. What I am saying is that the wording may be new, but what makes them seem astounding is our own mind. We hear something new, in a way which makes us think in manners for awakening and.. BOOM we got it! The wording was the tool, it was mundane, but our awakening was the end result...more astounding. Opening indicates something was closed. It also indicates there is a closer and thus an opener. Where are they? The questions come back again to define define define, and thus the answers will be to put down, put down, put down. Whatever term you feel works best to get you to awaken. I would tell my student to do something harmful in the idea it would awaken him, because its his conditions. And when he is stupid enough to do it, I will slap him off the head to make him realize how stupid he is for not questioning me, and to save him from doing the harmful thing. In the end, he is wiser... he might be awakened. Has happened..funny as hell. The idea is to put the mind in contemplative mode, wonder wonder wonder, and then something snaps the mind out of the absorption of contemplation and we awaken. So, if that wording fits for your mind, stay with it until you don't need to any longer. Only one thing, do not get too excited over the wording, for it is your mind that makes the wording mean something. Be excited that you have such a wonderful mind! Peace and Blessings, Lin
  21. The Term Enlightenment

Re enlightenment is ...at first you were enligthened, then you screwed up, and so you have to do it all over again.. hahaha Enlightenment, re-enlightenment... its all the same thing. One has to get the dirt out, drop views. There is no attaining anything. Seems like people are confusing things when it comes to enlightenment. They think they are getting something. There is only revealing the mind, and even the revealing is false. Hence is our vocabulary, so people, cultivators best be creative and find a teacher who will not throw out new terms meaning the same old thing. Just raw, to the point descriptions are better than new words to describe. So basically, this word 'enlightenment' doesn't mean anything at all. It is the original mind that is without defilements. We call this the enlightened mind for there is no ignorance present. If there were to be a new word to mean enlightenment, it would be one who is purely wise, one without ignorance, free to come and go as they please, One Come Thus, the list can go on... hahaha Peace and Blessings, Lin P.S.- if one is re-enlightened, that means they were enlightened before. Seems like the same concept of enlightenment. Maybe Shifu Max is only trying to change the views people have by using a play on words. A lot of teachers do that kind of thing.
  22. 26 Vows of Lin Ai Wei

That sounds quite right... Though attaining complete and unsurpassed enlightenment, one is still utilizing a form, a thought, an attachment with the intention only being to work with those of his mind. Though there is attachment, it is not the attachment in the manners of those who are not enlightened. Much lighter a holding on to. Peace and Blessings, Lin
  23. Nothing to Reveal

Nothing to Reveal The ground, seeds, outcomes arise. Emotions, thoughts, our attachments of mind. What I? What place a mind can dwell? The emptiness of all reveals nothing to tell. Peace and Blessings, Lin
