The section of the Tan Sau transition to Wu Sau and Fook Sau is taught slow for developing qi, yes, but that is not really a necessary thing. I believe it was something added in there to see the dedication of the student. Yip Man did it slow, and his students the same. There is concentration to be done in it. I do not do it slow as they do. I would safely say it is preference, because developing and sensing qi is done throughout the whole form. All techniques have their characteristics, and can be cultivated evenly as the "San Bai Fut" section of tan and fook. Even in practicing the form, speed is the enemy. I am sure you know that. Learning to release energy would really be in application when understanding distancing, and when you have an opposing force you have to redirect. It will be different between lineages. Understanding things sometimes takes us off the usual method the elders taught..but they are elders because they also went off the usual traditions they were taught..but stayed with the foundation of their teachings. I know you do not need to practice any part of the form too slow and then fast. It makes no difference, because it is the mind. Slow is best for practice, speed is best in combat. There seems to be a fixed manner of teaching Wing Chun these days and it stems from those saying what Yip Man taught is tradition and it should stay that way. It is best to stick to traditional foundation, but evolve in personal cultivation. My lineage is of Jiu Wan, Jason Lau, Alan Goldberg. Also from Yip Man, Moy Yat, and Alan Goldberg. I take it you live in Arizona? Peace and Happiness, Aiwei

Fa Jing cultivation can be an option, and mostly it is released upon the extention of the technique in the form practice. For the knees and arm connection; You can pay attention to the difference in pressure in the hip to the bottom of the foot to the floor on the arm extention. It is subtle at first, but with more practice of this awareness you notice it big time when in contact in Chi Sau, Luk Sau, or connecting in off hand combat. It makes a big difference in your practice and makes for more ..."mindfulness" there's that word again hahaha... of the whole; mind, body and energy as the result. The joints of the body will be always connected, so be sure not to fully extend the arms and legs, or twist the spine and shoulders unless the hips open and close with the twisting.. hehe And it is always. With the form, I keep it one speed during the time of practice. It doesn't really matter if you do one part slower or not, it is your preference. If on one time you feel to make the Tan sau- Jut Sau- Wu Sau- Fook Sau slower than the rest of the form, then it would be good to keep the whole form that speed. Doing one part slower and the rest a different speed doesn't enhance your practice or knowledge of the form. If they are done in good concentration, you will gain great benefits. I do notice some people get slower in the beginning and faster towards the end. It is because of the technicality of the movements and unsureness of the position and transition. But once the transition is understood, the movements become smoother, and should be brought up to par without distinction of its myriad transition or simplicity. Peace and Happiness.. Aiwei

A choice in practicing it for 20 minutes. For testing it would be done no less than 45 minutes, but can be longer. The only movement in the stance during Siu Lim Dao -cantonese (Xiao Nian Tou- mandarin) is in the hips to the kness, kness to the ankles, and ankles to the bottom of the feet to the floor. A very slight/subtle press to activate and extend one's root further into the floor Remember, the spine must pull in two directions, the kness are pressing into the ankles, not inwards; but are only pointing inwards along with the toes. Weight is pressed upon the entire foot, which allows the energy to evenly, without obstruction, flow down through the foot. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei P.S.- 小念头= Xiao Nian Tou/Siu Lim Dao: Form of Little "Idea", "Thought"... can also be translated as Form of Effortlessness because of the simplicity of its movements, physical relaxation, and concentration. In every step, step as though you are one meter into the ground or more, but you step as though there are clouds under your feet. That means your feet are soft ..there would be no heaviness present during the step, no abrupt shaking in the body and eyes from stepping. You gracefully glide...builds up speed, root and enhances the movement of energy in the body. Rememeber to keep the head pulling up and tail bone pulling down..

I see what you are saying... It originates in mind though, results in physical senses. The prostate would be the converter/receiver, so to say, of this energy..movign to the testicles, the function would be to refine and create liquid essense. The energy travels up the spine, we know that as well as down the front of the body... going through these places it refines itself through those lovely chakras we are all so familiar with, and pools in the Dantian which further builds up the physical feeling of sexual desire in body. The switch is on a fine line between the head of the penis and the mind. Getting there with ease... stimulate, abdominal breathing and anal lock squeezing for iit sends blood and qi to the head and stimulates it moreso. You have to be REALLY REALLY REALLY careful when it builds up.. I am sure you know what to do from there. How I explain it may be in different words than you know it to be.. try it though.. it may be in the same manenr inwhich you recognize it as. Let me know what you think. hehe Peace, Aiwei

I agree. All advice given is in all consideration that the practitioner has become familiar with the MCO cultivation and breath techniques. For holding back is no child's play. This is one of the several steps ahead in the cultivation of nourishing the brain, bone marrow and tendons with jing.. hehe fun, but can result in painful health problems if not cautiously practiced, properly taught. One must, wihtout a doubt, cultivate the MCO, and various breathing techniques, as well as mental postures, before doing something like hold back upon almost ejaculation..and even orgasm for that matter. Long Jing Cha.. what a great tea! I was in Hangzhou a few years ago and stopped by Long Jing Shan. Beautiful green everywhere..and found a quiet walkway up the mountain off the usual path to a great meeting of a solid celestial stone shaped Dragon...which was so subtley formed that people just had newpapers and human waste all over it. What disrespect for such beings. Anywho... Many stories I do have.. but the tea, nonetheless, is one of those I choose mostly. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei

For non-ejaculatory orgasms, you have to recognize the feeling right before you are feeling you are getting an orgasm, then slow down. Let the feeling subside and then continue do whaat you do. Be mindful of that feeling of before the almost about to ejaculate feeling. When it arises, you must slow and breathe in to prevent it from going out forward. The hold-back method I mentioned earlier for urination is a good way of developing the muscles and will power to hold back during orgasm. When ready to have the orgasm, be sure your partner does not touch the penis at all. It is best to pull out, for any touch will cause the sensation of orgasm to rise intensly and you will shower the room with regret. haha When it is about to reach orgasm level, prepare to be attentive to your breathing and be sure to have the wil power to pull out. On orgasm, no touching the friend, hold back by tightening the anal muscles, which is tightening the penis, all before the sperm reaches the urethra (the tube leading to the head) and breathe in following the micro cosmic orbit into the dan tian. Be mindful of the feeling right when you begin orgasm. That is where you must apply hold back, and once the orgasm has gotten to be almost full fledged feeling, pull out, and continue to hold back while breathing in from the tip of the penis, following up the spine, and down the face, chest into the dan tian. Have fun.. takes practice. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei P.S.- I don't know how to get all my posts in one posting.. haha

Hi, Usually when we try something for the first time, we are very much into it, concentrated and mindful (there's that word again) of what we are doing. We are not fixed on the result. After we attain a response from cultivating, we tend to look for that feeling again. THat looking during our practice becomes a hindrance to realizing the outcome of practice. THe multiple orgasms is actually not the highest one can get, but it is a good sign of potential in cultivation. As a child I learned a basic exercises that builds the orgasm sensation for men, for women too, but I never did the one for women . During urination, every quarter of the way, stop urinating, wait a moment, and then let it go again...then stop a moment, and let it go again. Do this repeatedly during urination. This builds strength in the prostate gland and acts as a preventative exercise to tighten the prostate ..for men, so they donot develop prostate problems from ejaculating too much, which results in a loose prostate. It also builds mindfulness --haha -- of the genitals and brings more energy and blood to the area, resulting in a non-impotent life. More blood and energy, more sensation during sex. Which also calls for more control, not to go out too fast..he he he. This can lead to longer lasting fun, building of energy(mind) in the genitals, and result in an explosion of myriad entertainment. For women it is obviously different. Peace, Aiwei

Ahhh.. I do see what you mean, which would have been a great add-in during our discussion. During one's beginning stages, renunciation is impossible, unless they have the capacity to do so, right? So, one works with what they can handle. It may be years, 10, 20 , 40, before they can move from there method of cultivation into another step. Not that Tantric practices are wrong.. they are not wrong.. not wrong at all.... What was not clear was what was being cut off... One's personal attachment to the method, the desire cultivated, and the desire for result. Ofcourse, the method which leads us to attain the result of good cultivation will be the one we "promote". I also have been in practice of tantric methods...so I am not against them at all. I do see that at some point, entertaining sexual desires will come to an end as an inevitable result, it doesn't have to be chased after, and then there is another step. The method is our crutch until we don't need it anymore. The Buddha spoke of cutting off because of the minds of living beings. He knew that the great majority, if taught to utilize desire in certain manners, would not be able to handle the intensity of them, and result in manifest more karma which will keep them here longer. So, he taught methods to directly cut off desire, or gradually do it, but emphasized the direct methods towards transforming them, ending them. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei

""why then is renunciation, cutting off, being promoted as the only way to deal with it?"" This will go off to another topic haha- -Because when one entertains their sexual desires, they are also mixing their mind with that of the partner. What results is acting like the other parter, thinking like them, having their memories, emotions.. because it transfers and adds to your own, mixes with your own. If you cannot distinguish, it makes it a hindrance. If you can distinguish, then you still have something in the mind which points to an "I" wanting sex. It makes for more work to be done. The wanting covers the original nature. That is why it is cut off. Selflessness removes the "I" and the wanting. When there is noone wanting, there is nothing to want, and thus all things are abundant, ...no separation. If it was left to just letting it liberate on its own without a direction, for the sake of saying direction, it wouldn't be done in one lifetime. It would go up and down, here and there, and that is just because one's mind would be that way. If one's mind is not of stable characteristics, then there will be an ebb and flow. Since the elements of the body can be off balance in its energetic characteistics, one's mind will be affected...unless they are not. If they are not affected, there would be no imbalance, and an ebb and flow of any desire. No testicles is not fun.. haha It will be all naturally done actually. The method is just understanding the mechanics of it all, and yet it is very simple. Liberating to the "natural energy of the awakened state" does need a little push in that direction. That is where a bit of cultivation takes place, but by all means it will be natural, for the further one gets the more they can step aside because controlling is just the beginning steps, and as one gets further along, there is less to control, and less of the view of their being a controller. I am not speaking of a totalitarian mannerism of cultivation.. haha "YOU HAVE DESIRE??!! BAAAADDDD! " haha not at all.. just to be aware of ones habits and urges and then direct that energy to nourish wisdom. It is all natural, not agressive, just dilligently cultivated for the result. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei

Liberating desire says that there is an owner of desire that is liberating it. Because there is a mind of possession, there will be a mind of liberating that possession. So, for the mind of the condition in liberating their desires, yes it is possible. But really there is no liberating of desire, nor a liberator... and most of all nothing to liberate. It is upon the mind cultivating.. use what results in getting close to the result, and then drop it all to realize it. That is exactly what he did.. when he realized it was empty, he dropped the whole idea of a being experiencing desire, and that tranformed the pretty women into horrid demons, which basically means the visions transformed into mundane seeds of desire, and thus vanished. He saw that the desires are indeed empty. Ahhh.. giving sex.. for compassionate means? Now you are going into a very interesting manner of mind. Its good. Actually, if there is a woman and a man who are married, and one of them is cultivating the way, and awakens to his original nature, and begins to cut off desire, he/she may actually maintain desire for the sake of the relationship. For when a man and woman are married, depending on the causes and conditions of the relationship, they will not leave eachother, and thus out of compassion for the other, still maintain a relationship to a certain degree. That means not engaging in sex as much as the ordinary married couple does...and it is only done to maintatin the relationship, and give for the sake of the partner's causes and conditions which do not allow them to dilligently cultivate the way. The cultivator will inturn utilize the sexual experience and cultivate more dilligently in transforming whatever desire of lust they have into wisdom. That is where dual cultivation will take place..but it will not be based on lust, and will eventually be dropped, depending on the causes and conditions of the situation. This must be thoroughly understood: causes and conditions of the situation. Another good one you point out... cutting off the desire for liberation in the sense of spiritual cultivation... Not at all.. This desire is useful as the drive to place the mind to concentrate. Yet there will be a point in cultivation reached where even the idea of liberating oneself and others becomes a hindrance. Not that one will not teach others to attain, it is tht one does not need that focus in their mind for their own cultivation, but they realize others still do. So they use teachings in that manner to transform others (teach others basically) and when those have reached a certain level, they too drop the idea of being liberated. WHy do they drop that idea? because they realize there was no one who needs liberating, as well as nothign to be liberated from. Peace and Happiness, Aiwei

and it is in emptiness where they take form. -
Both are the same. When you renounce something, you will transform,. When you transform you have put down what you no longer see a need to entertain. Maybe there are two methods of one path. Peace, Aiwei

One who has awakened, seen their original nature, though still has cultivation to tend to, would not follow their desires on the ebb and flow on their whim. They would be more aware of the causes of their desires and most likely caution themselves in not entertaining them because they know what results. But not all can cultivate dilligently. Though one may have a high level of wisdom from awakening, they still need further cultivation to deepen the causes of complete pure enlightenment. And if they did engage in sex, it wouldn't be in the manner of desire driven on the ebb and flow. You may think it is a limit, but it isn't. It is quite the opposite actually. Cutting off sexual desires, or atleast cultivating to lessen desires, opens a whole other world of wisdom. Alters perception when cultivated properly. If sexual desire is not cut off, one cannot attain pure complete enlightenment. When Sakyamuni Buddha was very close to his attainig pure complete enlightenment, he faced the strongest of his sexual desires. Deep burning desire so strong it led visions of beautiful women to appear in his mind. Tempting and trying to make him retreat from his cultivation. Do you think for one second that if he followed his sexual desires at that point that he would have attained the highest level of enlightenment? Even he said that if he were to face another desire as strong as that of sex, he would not be able to make it. Unless one isn't looking to end their afflictions, one must cut off desire. In the beginning, it isn't easy, so there are methods to cultivate to develop concentration, patience, wisdom, compassion, skill in means. Once a certain level is attained, the methods must be dropped along with the remainder of the desire..whatever is left. I spoke of the overall mannerism, not subtle techniques. I have not spoken the whole in detail, but have spoken the whole in detail according to the conditions that have arisen along this thread. Peace and Happiness. Aiwei

Everyone has the intuited awareness of no self but not everyone has awoken to it. And if they have they wouldn't be indulging in sexual desire. It isn't a thing, it has no marks. What my post was saying is that it is from Thought which sexual desire results. There is a thought, then the desire. OR the desire, and then the thought emphasizes it.. OR vice verse. I link attachment to feeling desire to "sexual energy". The dualism you see is only the construction of the method to dissolve the dual thinking. It is not fixed. AMITUOFO Peace and Happiness, Aiwei Sometimes the feelings stop being felt, and sometimes that is where the cultivation is taking place...sometimes it is just a method to keep people cultivating. If you don't feel anything, then don't look for one or it will be an outcome of your looking. Just let it be and there will be results in the future. Do as you wish, but it is good to share. Sex energy is metnally focused energy transformed into desire to have sex. Testicle energy is just energy in the testicles. Its function is just energy, and when met with the tools, like the testes, it results in making liquid essense-jing. Peace, Aiwei
