Wonderful. I have not heard of it. Will check it out. Are you enjoying a faster pace vs. slower pace or visa versa?

How do you heal/release your issues/fears ?
Rishi Das replied to Shad282's topic in General Discussion
Being introspective and aware of your shifting states in the present moment can allow for just enough space when tension arises to bring clarity. This in turn can assist in that healing/release. Writing is another way to dig into past issues/trauma and 'unpack' them. KNOW thyself intimately and in the moment.- 19 replies

Hi there - For what it's worth, these two threads are great and may add a different dimension... http://www.thedaobums.com/topic/22213-connecting-with-qi-no-system-required/ http://www.thedaobums.com/topic/37838-ratu-bagus-and-the-shakers-of-bali/ EDIT: for clarity.

“Too lazy to be ambitious, I let the world take care of itself. Ten days' worth of rice in my bag; a bundle of twigs by the fireplace. Why chatter about delusion and enlightenment? Listening to the night rain on my roof, I sit comfortably, with both legs stretched out.” ~ Ryōkan

I'm generally uninformed on the topic but stumbled upon this and thought it may be fitting. Global warming caused by humans or not, the video is eye opening as far as climate change is concerned.

The aim of far too many teachings these days is to make people "feel good," and even some Buddhist teachers are beginning to sound like New Age apostles. Their talks are entirely devoted to validating the manifestation of ego and endorsing the "rightness" of our feelings, neither of which have anything to do with the teachings we find in the pith instructions. So, if you are only concerned about feeling good, you are far better off having a full body massage or listening to some uplifting or life-affirming music than receiving dharma teachings, which were definitely not designed to cheer you up. On the contrary, the dharma was devised specifically to expose your failings and make you feel awful. ~ Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche

Great book! Read it multiple times. Love the Ferryman! The book however talks about Siddhartha meeting Gautama Buddha - so wouldn't be the first...

Make it an old book and be conscious of ripping pages/chapters out every couple days/weeks. Great way to move oneself into a natural squat. Also, squatty potty is another good brand for those needing assistance in the restroom. https://www.squattypotty.com/?gclid=CjwKEAiAqozEBRDJrPem0fPKtX0SJAD5sAyHGT52zgwX0qL2qJMHaUNS2UIB0ccUT4d-hPl7cNtzwxoCcVnw_wcB

Are there any good Qigong books for beginners?
Rishi Das replied to Sealestr's topic in Daoist Discussion
https://www.amazon.com/Healing-Promise-Qi-Creating-Extraordinary/dp/0809295288 Hands down the best book I have read on the subject. Simple, easy to read, straight to the point. -
Another great point. We have got in the habit of putting routine bills on separate cards so they are all utilized equally. Always good to keep an eye on the rewards programs too for any specials - good to switch things up if the opportunity presents itself. Also, one needs to be aware of limiting the amount of 'hard credit checks' when applying for larger purchases. Too many of these over a short amount of time can also be a burden to the credit score.

I was always taught to have cash to cover the cost, pay with credit, and immediately pay it off. Not only are you building your credit but will also be taking advantage of 'rewards' program points. Ideally one would be paying credit for everything and always have the cash to cover. Totally agree that one need to be cautious with accruing debt. This is great insight. My wife and i caught on to doing this a couple years ago. It's amazing what they'll do to get customers to stay. EDIT: changed some words

I don't have experience with HELOC but as far as a mortgage is concerned, you do have to think about the down payment, interest over time, and cost of upkeep to things like HVAC/water heater/etc. - assuming one can afford upfront costs and cash expenses for random/nonrandom upkeep then renting a room in a home that one owns can be a great way to save cash. Assuming you have the upfront resources, renting a home you own and don't live in can 'feel' like owning a home for free; at least on a month to month basis. Assuming the market doesn't fluctuate to much and your able to find consistent renters then your return on investment would likely end up panning out over a much longer period of time.

For what it's worth...I believe it's quite the opposite. Thank you for sharing.

I wouldn't know - so even saying, most, for me is a stretch. What i do know is that i am deeply introverted and can differentiate between said introversion and shyness/social awkwardness. I am affected by both. That said, there was a time i wouldn't have understood that difference and believe it is important to point out.
