Indeed. The way our society is trying to use the head is like trying to make an input cable output original data. That's not how it works nor will it ever. The head doesn't come up with anything, it's more like an incredible artist or musician. you want some serious work to get done, you have to rely on the heart. Will is not located in the head, void is. The head is always going on harebrained adventures in illusory realms, or creating otherworldly tunes which somehow translate into 'ordinary thoughts', or just plain messing with you because you aren't being interesting enough. It's just like a rowdy elf playing with magic. The centers in the head are always fooling around. There's a reason why shen is always wandering... most people aren't cool enough to keep it hanging. Half the practices we do are just complicated scams to get it's attention. Once we do... It basically does everything for us.

The thing about energy is that it's alive, it's not a tool. The techniques we use in attempting to communicate with it - those are tools. Whether it chooses to respond to those techniques is the choice of the energy itself. This world isn't dragon ball Z. If you shot a 'destructo disk' of qi energy at somebody, assuming you managed to acquire such power in the first place, it would most likely swerve back and slice you in half, because the ego is magnetic, and you must be in a selfless state of mind to move energy without getting stuck or blocked. This is why practice without the correct intention is so incredibly dangerous. The energy itself seperates the wheat from the chaff. The self governs psychic potential, and it will drive you mad before you gain any sort of ability to utilize it for war. Humans may like to pretend that they are lord of the sticks and the stones, but there is no room for that with energy - our own mother. There is no room for that with mind - the father of the self. Just look at how some people's minds are degenerating in society nowadays due to the stress and abuse heaped on it. No way are they going to be able to get these tensed and narrow minds to utilize 'psychokinesis', especially for war. No way are they going to be able to get these tensed and abused bodies to generate large amounts of chi, especially for war. There's a reason why real masters are peaceful, why they are youthful and exude a healing presence. Those who acquire power before they are prepared to handle it tend to self-destruct. This is nature protecting itself.

'Power' naturally coagulates in stillness, which requires non-attachment since psychological movement disperses the spirit. That sounds like a very useful excercise. What I like to do is see every single little dust mote in my visual field as a miniature-me who diligently keeps record of everything i've ever done said thought smelled whatever. If I want to recall something I pull it out, fractal style, and it unfolds like a flower in space. It's lead to some very interesting dreams where I'd be disembodied floating through crazy holographic mind internet and some pretty novel lucid dream techniques. That feeling when you realize you're dreaming because your awareness is stuck halfway between a television, the show on it, and your shoes in some sort of unspeakable spacial geometry: priceless.
