i know, i know this is an age old question, but its an important one there are so many books and techniques out there that its overwhelming and confusing and now a days meditation has become a tool to relieve stress, guided visualizations.......etc its like its original purpose is lost so if you were to suggest meditation techniques to a complete beginner, to achieve Enlightenment what would you suggest ?

guys tell me how can i develop my visualization ? any course, book, personal technique, anything ? i want to develop it to such an extent that it feels as real or more real than reality

well right now in my life i am in a very weird situation i think too much, i am always thinking about something, worrying about little things its a very weird feeling, its like nothing is good, something is missing this feeling started about a month ago i am feeling like nothing is good in life i decide to meditate but cant do it regularly i have decided many times to meditate only to stop it after few days its summer vacations here and i decided before the vacations that i would work on myself but i am doing nothing right now i am just too lazy, i find it more pleasurable to rest on bed i think this is happening with me because i have procrastinated my spiritual practices many many and many times, may be it has created some weird neural connection in my brain lol well thats the situation right now now lets talk about new age teachings i think new age teachings is having bad effect on me new age teachings say that you thoughts have profound effect on your reality if you think negative , it will happen and if you think positive it will happen now the weirdest thing lol my mind thinks those negative thoughts automatically which i dont wanna think , weird ehh ? it could not have affected me before but now because i know these thoughts can become reality i am struggling to control these thoughts which is causing even more thoughts lol its called the pink elephant effect if i tell you not think about pink elephant, you will certainly think about it i have read in some book that you should never make fun of someone's physical or mental disability, you might also get into that situation in future so what happens with me is like this i see someone who has some disability, and i know that i should not think about or compare myself to him but on the contrary my mind will automatically start thinking about it and than the worry starts because i should not have thought about it because it will cause bad things for me its like i am always trying to control my mind because i fear that if i will think negative it will manifest in my life Damn you New Age Bunnies

hmmmmmmmm as you guys probably know, i am a hindu in hinduism there is overwhelming influence of Deities than in any other religion my question is how much role does a Deity play in gaining enlightenment ? personally i think Deities can help you but it is false that only a deity can make you enlightened for example my father's guru is a devotee of lord Shiva He says only Lord Shiva can grant you enlightenment if you dont worship him, you cant get enlightenment Even other gods have to come to Lord Shiva to achieve enlightenment i dont understand it i mean how realizing your true nature is related to worshiping lord Shiva he gives great emphasis on bhakti but personally i think Bhakti is a dangerous practice for a true spiritual practitioner because it says that God is somewhere else and you have to worship him but the truth is exactly opposite , God is everywhere , actually you are the God i believe that Deities exist and they can help you and even make the road to liberation easy but Tao is the supreme Shiva is not Tao, he is a God emerged from Tao just like we emerged Go for the Tao Directly

The name that can be named is not the eternal name." when you give something a name and say that this is the Dao, it is wrong you assume that Lord Shiva is the Dao but because you have given it a name , a personalty , it isnt Dao anymore let me give you some example there are three sects in india Shaiva- shaiva says that Shiva is the supreme, worship him (they have all the evidences from Mythological texts to stories) sakta- Sakta says Shakti is the supreme, worship her (they have all the evidences from Mythological texts to stories) Vaishnava- Vaishnava says Lord Vishnu is the supreme, worship him (they have all the evidences from Mythological texts to stories) now this doesnt make sense because every sect gives proof that their god is the ultimate how is this possible ? either three of them are true (which is impossible), or all three are wrong Supreme is not a Deity, its something else
