Oops! Mixed up again Left right, up down, right or wrong So many questions.

I will give my thoughts on the subject of Tai Chi as a martial art and can but hope that it will give a clearer understanding of this emotive subject. Firstly Tai Chi was devised as a martial art and was claimed not only to be effective for fighting but to be the supreme ultimate method of fighting. There are all manner of arguments for and against this claim but we have to admit that those who made it believed it and were not afraid to be put to the test. Secondly we must ask ourselves if the modern practitioner’s Tai chi is still effective as a martial art? The answer to this question must, in general, be no. To be effective as a martial artist one must firstly train in the martial aspect of the art. Practice of the Tai Chi Form and associated qigong will not and cannot do this. The Tai Chi Form is but one aspect of a complex interlocking system of practices which, taken as a whole will provide, with time and discipline, supreme and ultimate martial abilities. The Tai Chi Form itself provides two things. Firstly a means of training the body in correct stance, posture and movement. Secondly a series of possibilities in martial arts. Most practitioners of Tai Chi today have a compartmentalised vision of the art and fail to see, let alone train in the art as a whole. A simple example regarding this aspect is the training of the external as well as the internal. This is a most misunderstood aspect of the Taoist martial arts but put simply it is a case of training for fitness and physical strength – the wai gong aspect as opposed to the nei gong. I was saddened to see the video of the so called Tai Chi Master so simply bested by the MMA Wallah. It was not a case of his being so badly battered which grieved me so but the fact that he failed to apply one of the first principles of Tai Chi, that of heavy elbows. Keeping the elbows low relaxes the shoulders and lowers the bodies centre of balance to the area of the dantien , thereby assisting rooting and making it more difficult for your opponent to throw or knock you down. The “Master” in question kept his elbows high, doubtless in the mistaken belief that by adopting such a stance he was protecting his face and head. Alas this proved not to be the case. I could say much more on the subject of tai Chi as an effective fighting system but am not minded so to do. The fact of the matter is that Tai Chi and the Taoist Arts in general must be taken as a whole for development of the mind, body and spirit. Anyone taking up training must really be in it for the long haul and cannot expect a quick fix regarding abilities. I have trained in the Taoist arts for twenty five years rigorously and it is only in the last five years that my martial abilities have developed to the stage that I would be confident in dealing with violence offered by one or more than one attacker. It is a sad fact that few organisation or teachers can provide full training in these arts and this is the case in China as well as the West. That being the case those who have found a competent teacher should feel very grateful. To conclude I will say that the health benefits of Tai Chi are many and varied so that training in these aspects of the art are well and good. This will not however provide any martial abilities and no one should believe that it will.

As there is a thriving thread running on the 2016 U.S. Election, with a great deal of input from U.K. Bums I thought that we may be deserving of a thread of our own on a political issue of some note. Our gallant Prime Minister David Cameron has been busy of late attempting to strike a "New Deal" regarding the United Kingdoms relationship with the European Super state. This is prior to a possible referendum (perhaps as early as the summer of 2016) when the British electorate would decide if the United Kingdom should continue as a member of the European Union. The President of the USA (whom many would consider as a socialist) Barack Obama has already stated that he would like to see Britain continue within the E.U. What is the opinion of the members of this forum regarding this issue? My own view is that i would like to see Britain cut its bonds to the European Socialist Super State but to be honest, with the quality and mindset of our political leaders, I doubt that it would make a deal of difference in the long term. The zeitgeist is both left wing and liberal and this permeates all aspests of our society. So the questions. Should Britain leave the European Union? Will the British people vote to leave the European Union? Will it make a bit of difference if they do or don't?

This is a very poor attempt to prove your point. The hero in your example is putting himself at risk to protect his comrades and is therefor acting from rational self interest. Or are you suggesting that many Victoria Crosses have been awarded to those who assisted the enemy in some way? Now that would indeed be altruistic.
-
Once more you misconstrue the idea of rational self-interest. I do not know if this is deliberate on your part or that you are in some way incapable of rational thought. The Objectivist would have no problem in acting to save their own child or dependent. They would however have a problem in relating to the "one world humanity hugging philosophy" which you espouse; in which case all of the oxygen masks would have been given away to third world dictatorships and everyone on the plane would die. You also tacitly suggest that those following Ayn Rands Objectivist philosophy may have had their humanity blinded. This is far from the case though their humanity may be of a more rational nature than that of the humanity hugging Liberal or Socialist who, whilst saying all the right things, is in reality an extremely nasty bit of work.
-
As regards Ayn Rand and Objectivism I cannot really see the point in argument, Objectivism and the philosophy of rational self- interest is simply plain common sense for those who have eyes that see and ears that hear. For those who lack these senses then it is virtually impossible to make them understand. It is all very sad but in a world beset with the simpering nastiness of Socialism and humanity hugging Liberalism what can one do. This forum, being a microcosm of our world, makes sensible debate on this subject impossible. This has been amply demonstrated by the snide remarks aimed at a forum member by the usual suspects. Viva revolution, viva Corbynista’s and viva Zapate – the latter in praise of his magnificent moustache.

The poor fellows understanding of Internal Martial arts is sadly lacking and having put two and two together he has come up with five. Having found the Lord he is not happy with simply saving himself he wants to save everyone else as well. It is all rather sad.
-
British dogs are Objectivist by nature and live their lives according to rational self Interest.
-
No matter how many times it is proved that Socialism ends in disaster you still refuse to see the facts. It is indeed a case of “having eyes they see not and ears they hear not. I assume that you will have us all dressed in Mao Suits and perhaps then we can do without names and simply be known by our number. Oh brave new world.

I am at a loss to say whether you are serious regarding this suggestion or if your words are simply in jest. I fear however that it is the former.

You may start with this thread http://www.thedaobums.com/topic/40024-mo-pai-is-it-legit/?hl=%2Bjohn+%2Bchang#entry661782 It is pretty much standard for discussions on John Chang and Mo Pai within this forum. You will also find links to sites offering teachings purporting to be Mo Pai but generally classed as Western Mo Pai or "More Pie" as it is also known. My own view concerning John Chang and Mo Pai is well known on the forum. John Chang and Mo Pai may well be a valid and powerful system of neigong but as John C will not teach westerners it is very much a dead end endeavour to attempt to follow this road. There are those who will say that this is not so and that Mo Pai is alive and well in the west but you will have to decide for yourself if this is the case. My advice would be to read through the above thread in its entirety to give you a good grounding in the paths that may be available to you.
-
John Chang is the present patriarch of the Mo Pai system. He has chosen not to accept western students into his school; it is as simple as that. He has the right to teach or not to teach whomsoever he chooses, the whys and wherefores being matters for conjecture. For those interested in this subject there is a considerable volume of threads regarding Mo Pai on this forum, most of which do not end well but give a goodly amount of information for interested parties.

You have failed completely from word go to understand Brexiteer thinking and I do believe that you are genetically incapable of any such understanding. Whilst I am far from happy to see Theresa May (a woman who has the ability to appear both drippy and menacing at the same time) as Prime Minister I agree with Karl that a massive movement is afoot in England that cannot now be patted on the head and told to keep silent. The Left and the Liberal can see this all too plainly which is why they are so full of spite and venom. See post 977 above.
-
You never disappoint with your Remainiac ranting. The really good thing about the referendum is that the Left wing Liberal Elite and the Champaign Socialists have let their masks drop and shown themselves for the spite filled, undemocratic thugs they really are. Well done sir.
-
Mo Pai is a closed school and is not taught to westerners. If you wish you may use the search facility on the site and peruse all that we have regarding this system. I am afraid that it does not make for pleasant reading.
