The problem with Zhan Zhuang is that the posture and stance are all important. Bad posture and bad stance = poor results or even harmful results. You really do need a good teacher to take you through the basics of how to stand properly before getting started with this as learning from a book or DVD will prove most difficult.

This is one of the problems in being both a charming and a handsome man. Does it happen to you a lot?

It is indeed a good idea. Starting and continuing a class is a great responsibility and covering your costs can at times seem a great impossibility,; especially in rip off Britain where hall hire charges are exorbitant. There is also the sheer frustration of attempting to teach a worthwhile art to a high standard in a world where students expect instant results without effort or expense.

I am afraid that I remain something of a doubting Thomas as regards this sort of thing. Apart from the "Aum" I could see little resemblance between the bones and any figure depicted. There is also the question of why should these figures materialise on the bones? It all very much smacks of the face of Elvis in a potato. An interesting read and item for discussion but absolutely worthless as regards our own practice and progress. Akin to this subject and the supposed rainbow body is the case of Buddhist mummies. Just how this sort of thing is supposed to inspire us in our inner work is quite frankly beyond me.

The term "back to back" means consecutively; in succession; the films were watched back to back or his back to back wins at table tennis. My own experience is that no amount of qigong, neigong or anything else will restore hair lost through male pattern baldness. I have great admiration for Damo and the systematic development of his skills in the Taoist Arts. His books are both informative and well written and his various websites are both promotional and beautifully designed. I do have doubts as to his abilities as regards principles of stance and movement and can recognise various weaknesses in his forms. I would not desert my present teacher to train with him but for such a young man his knowledge is extensive and creditable. I wish him well.

Yes. Unfortunately we have exactly the same problem when we are dealing with and advising our children. We are at a different stage of maturity and they will not see things as we see them. Its almost like being on a different wavelength.

I did not know that you had "made the error double" S.C. This is an interesting question which is somewhat akin to "if you had your life again what would you do differently?" Well the fact is that you cannot go back and do things differently; if you could give your twenty year old self advice from the standpoint of your present state of maturity - you would be unlikely to heed that advice. If you could go back in time and do things differently you would simply make different regretable mistakes. This sorry state of affairs is called life.

Nature is unkind and that is simply how it is. Some things we can change but this is not one of them. It is best if we learn to accept this fact and simply let it be OK.
