  15. Taking naps in the day-time

I spent thirty two years as a shift worker. During that time I could not sit down after midday without dozing off. Now I am no longer working shifts I never snooze during the day as I simply do not feel the need. Just for the record I find that I only need about six hours sleep at night.

  18. qi master against mma

Life can become very dangerous when one begins to believe in ones own bullshit. Whilst not being able to state with absolute certainty that kong jing or empty force does not exist, I can state that I have yet to see it used with any effect in a martial setting.
  19. The definition of arrogant is having an exaggerated sense of one’s own importance or abilities. The definition of confident is feeling or showing confidence in oneself or one's abilities or qualities. Confidence means the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something. So by definition a useless and hopeless person may possess a high degree of arrogance or indeed confidence. We have heard mention of the very rich and celebrities but what of politicians. Most people have very little confidence in their rulers but those rulers are probably possessed of a Cromwellian sense of their own prowess. It is all very worrying. But also beware of the humble. "I am well aware that Iam the umblest person going My mother is likewise a very umble person. We live in an umble abode." Uriah Heep.

  24. Sad that nature is destroyed

Hello and welcome to the Tao Bums. I am afraid that you will have to decide for yourself what sort of people you find here. Let me quote a parable related recently by a forum member GrandmasterP in another thread:- "I once read a story about the Greek philosopher Socrates that highlights the point well. The story goes that whilst Socrates was sitting outside the gates of the ancient city of Athens, a traveller approached him and expressed an interest in moving to the city. As part of the conversation the traveller asked, ‘What are the people like here?’ In response Socrates asked, ‘How do the find the people in your own town?’ The man responded, ‘I’ll be glad to get away from them – they’re all backstabbers and thieves!’ With a look of sympathy and regret Socrates told the man that Athens would be a poor choice for a relocation because he’d find that everyone was exactly the same there. Later the same day, another man approached Socrates and similarly asked about the virtues of moving to Athens. Again, Socrates asked the man, ‘What’s it like where you live now?’ The man responded, ‘If I move away I’ll be leaving many friends. Everyone in my town goes out of their way to help one another – cooperation, kindness and respect are part of the culture there.’ Socrates smiled and said, ‘Welcome to Athens – you’ll find everyone’s just the same here." To help with your search you will now find that you are able to post freely on the forum and we ask only that you read the two posts pinned at the top of the Lobby and take a look at the forum terms and rules http://thetaobums.com/topic/19575-forum-terms-rules/.
