Hagar, Another girlfriend then! Seriously though, I'm impressed... few can do a vibrational 180 like that. Yoda

Your life and work is proof of Adya's philosophy of well-being-ness.

So I've been doing 5 Tibetans for maybe 8 months... very nice, but nothing miraculous thus far. I'm still optimistic for some extraordinary results as seen in the reviews at amazon and so forth. But I especially like the compressed portability of it. AYP has a simple routine: twist right and left, lean back, vacuum breath, and touch the toes as a premeditation routine. I dig that too. I just found Makko Ho, a Japanese 5 move system. I'll check it out. Am looking to try out other mini routines if anyone can recommend any. Thanks! Yoda

I bow to your google powers!! Great links! I hadn't realized it, but Makko Ho seems to incorporate the postures of India with the meridians of China.

I just got this email. Sounds cool. GAS WAR - an idea that WILL work This was originally sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. It' s worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!! I hear we are going to hit close to $4.00 a gallon by the end of this summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action. Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.79 for regular unleaded in my town. Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..... not sellers. With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out at this point.... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people. I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us sends it to just ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am, so trust me on this one.) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! We have much potential here. Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN WORK IF EVERYONE WILL CONTRIBUTE..

I like "Operation Exxon" to see if we can add another page to the history of the Internet. In any event, if we can reduce Exxon at the retail level, that would be symbolically significant... a big deal to know that this sort of thing can be done. I think Nestlee got the picture once upon a time... this sort of stunt really adds leverage to democracy imo. Maybe someday, we can use a grassroots thing to reduce taxes, but that won't happen as long as we are scared of Muslims, of course. I noticed that there's a book out there that says that if the US would be able to match the average European mpg, that we'd no longer need OPEC oil. That was interesting. I've also read that the typical hybrid owner in the US also owns an SUV... After the Popular Mechanics article on getting energy from garbage through plasma technology, I read a similar article in Discover. Discover says that there already is a large plasma plant in operation in Japan, but that this was early technology and generates only a break even amount of energy. The PM article says that the new plant in FL and Panama will be able to generate significant power. I figure garbage plasma should tide us over till we can get solar and fusion to pay. So in the meantime... make lots of garbage!!

Okay, I'm going with MM's vote and bagging on 5T. 9 months of 5T didn't get rid of the grey hair plus I'm sometimes not in the mood for it, so it's gone. But I still want to have a dog in the grey hair fight, so I googled up the mighty shoulder stand!! (who knows, who cares, but I still want a project on this front. smile.gif It would be fun to brag if I succeed.)

Bill Bodri's Tao School course in production...
Yoda replied to SheepishLord's topic in General Discussion
It's good stuff, but back it up or print... my Bodri collection perished with my hard drive. My favs were White Skeleton, Beautiful Skin, White Fat Cow, and then the big tome. Maybe buy a cheaper book first to see if you like the vibe. Bodri reminds me of Matt Furey... I don't like him personally, but I love his thoughts. -
What dream work practices are people doing these days
Yoda replied to thelerner's topic in General Discussion
I do my best to put myself to bed with the highest vibration possible for the sake of nice dreams and a nice day to follow, but that's the extent of it. I usually do primordial and some gentle stretches right before bed and enjoy the buzz. Sometimes I'll do a few affirmations as I drift off. I don't meditate before sleep as the technique I use doesn't mix well pre-bed. -
aporetic, Welcome to Taobums, I hope you enjoy it. We are each individually dogmatic so at least there's no collective crud here. I learned from Pavel on dragondoor.com: if you want to hit a slapshot and hit it hard, give it 70% effort. 100% effort hits with 50% less force and is unsustainable. Along those lines, spiritual cultivation doesn't work very well with full time effort. You might as well set it to a couple hours a day and have a fun life while you are at it. Mixing with the world is part of it and over the years you'll go quite far. Just a thought. Have fun! Yoda

In theory you are absolutely right. Just as Ramana Maharishi became fully enlightened just by sitting down and having a good think. Many other masters said that they needed various assemblies of asanas, fasting, meditation, chi kung, prayer, good deeds, etc, etc, etc. While quantum dynamics is a "no self" type of a system and is more accurate, it is sometimes more helpful to think in terms of the Newtonian "self based" system that operates in terms of cannonballs and gunpowder, self interest, love, and karma.

The vid is that good? The whole 'yin' thing is a bit confusing... it's more of a brand name in this case as T says. DanC and anyone interested, pm me your email and I'll pdf you my 2 pages on Makko Ho.
-
Great vid!! I second Goldisheavy... egolessness is a very difficult concept for the rest of us to use effectively. Better to talk about love, goodness, well being, "all-is-well-ness", and simplicity. Adyashanti does a fantastic job doing that in this vid. But, after recommending simplicity and ease, he then tells us how difficult and complicated it is to be egoless he started likening the whole thing to a door-to-door salesman being slick... So the rest of us go home after the talk, all charged up by his love, but get confused about egolessness to the point we get frustrated for not feeling more loving and then end up going postal. But maybe that's just me. I'm a postal kind of a guy. Yoda

I just read Grillies (sp?) book. It was nice. He was saying that muscle respond to motion and connective tissue responds to stillness. He also introduced me to the idea that muscle is interwoven with connective tissue and that there is greater subtle energies flow along the connective tissues, so for the sake of stretching and un-knotting muscles, you should think more in terms of connective tissue. I'm going to do the Makko Ho stretches to the hold and relax for a few minutes recommendation of yin yoga and see how that goes. As long as you don't overdo it, I'd imagine that this sort of training can easily be lifelong. I know he mentioned chakra training, associated mantras, etc in the book, but that's a whole different ball of wax. Between physical, energetic, and meditative practices the energy ones are the trickiest to sustain, and always need fine tuning.

I love milk, but after reading the China Study, have stopped drinking it for the most part. I have noticed a modest positive change in my health and energy level, but I stopped eating meat, increased veggies, etc at the same time so I can't really attribute the benefits.

I equate feeling good with oneness with God/Tao/etc. What's the point of spiritual growth if it feels bad? Imo, spiritual development is about learning to feel ecstatically nice independent of external, impermanent situations. The only two sources of knowledge are our feelings and the guidance of others. If we divorce our spiritual quest from feeling good, then we fall prey to relying overly on the guidance of others. Even if that person is as well meaning as your own mother and is very enlightened, it still can be problematic.

Mr. K, If silent mantras do it for you, you might check out advancedyogapractices.com... sit down, close your eyes and just mentally say I Am a few times a minute or whenever you can remember to. There's plenty of techniques out there and you are fortunate if you can find one to groove on, but it isn't necessary to have a nice life imo. Yoda

Anyone can shoot chi bolts. It's easy: http://www.martialdevelopment.com/blog/how...-bolts/#more-85

Mr. K, Hey... South Carolina, cool beans! Welcome! If you feel drawn to convert to something, I'd go with a 'real' religion that's got some right and wrong going on. To my mind, taoism really doesn't really have strong beliefs. Yoda
-
Yes, Welcome to Taobums! Yogani at advancedyogapractices.com specializes in helping people out who have too much kundalini. You might post over there. But in general, I'd stay away from MCO and favor showers, walks, sunlight, tranquility meditation and a heavy diet if necessary until things get under control. Your sensitivity is ultimately a positive thing, but you have to pace yourself. Yours, Yoda

I was just reading the Anatomy of Hatha Yoga and situps/leglifts while focusing on a full exhale is a great stand alone system in itself per the book. He mentions Muhammad Ali used zillions of situps as his secret weapon against George Foreman... it activates the pelvis/gut powerhouse of the body both physically and energetically. And says it's a great pick-me-up. Pilates seems to be 101 ways to do a situp also comes to mind. I'll give it a shot. Sounds nice and simple. Can do in front of the TV.

DanC, 4 stretches? I thought it was 5. 4 is even better! But why buy a book about 4 stretches? If you do, let me know if you learn anything. Yoda

S, I'd only do eyes open mindfulness around those guys. Can't be too careful these days.

You could well be right. I can't decide if your experience is the bottom line or if results may vary. Plus my grey did disapear, but maybe it was due to a change of diet or something.
