  1. How to sit

Cool thread topic. I'd say whichever feels the best, so that you are more likely to continue with sitting practices which I believe to be the most important daily habit out there, especially the tranquility based ones. I love the feeling of my feet flat against the earth, but I'm in the cross legged camp. Siddhasana (heel under the perineum) alternated with the Burmese lotus. -Yoda

  3. Noni juice

Mrs Yoda and I tried ACV for heartburn and it worked but the only "stop it dead in its tracks" relief we found was through veganism or Prilosec. Prilosec is awesome, by the way, and no need for any sort of lifestyle change either. Cat, I'm sure you could order it online. As long term heartburn can be a problem, it's important to snuff it completely and forever imo.
  4. Pietro, Pavel would have you doing pullups while holding onto an open door (I'm told doors are well made in Germany) and doing pistols. That and some mobility work and you'll be a mega climbing stud in a few years without even touching a rock. Nice articulation on the pick up front. I always wanted to be in those orgies too!! Peregrino, I have never truly mastered the bodyweight pistol. With some training, I can do 17ish one legged squats while standing on a chair, but that's a totally different thing. The last bodyweight pistol I did was at Cam's dad's house a year ago and I needed to grab a couple of pots for counterbalance. With all my mobility work, I should revisit the pistol and see where I'm at with it. My ultimate goal is to be able to do 20 reps good form, bodyweight alone. That would be too cool. Are you working pistols regularly? I read a lot over the xmas vacation, I'll reread Naked Warrior. -Yoda
  5. Go slow on Intuflow

GT- Good point... his vid goes pretty fast, actually. I'm slowing it down now. It's the Mindfulness during Intuflow one and the Freedom from Fear Reactivity, but the second one is hard to read. Hate to think of anyone being raised in that type of a situation. -Y
  6. Peregrino, Great list! Greasing the Groove... OMG!! How true!! That and some Sonnon type stuff. For a kid, some mobility work and greasing the groove a few minutes a day and you can be a real superhero. Actually, that's true for the rest of us, just it takes a few years to get into the freaky zone. -Yoda
  7. American Personal Income tax

At least they stuck to their guns so to speak.
  8. Taoism and what happens after death?

"To die is different from what any one supposed, and luckier." -Walt Whitman From what I'm told, understand the Tao and you'll understand the afterlife. One Tibetan teacher was asked what the difference was between life and death and he said, "No difference." I always thought that was a pretty snappy answer.
  9. Yin Yoga Question

just tried a yin yoga routine for the first time and it was very nice. Good for mellow moods. I had a mini-catharsis with each pose.
  10. Lozen, Good point... I think that karate time could've been better invested. -Yoda
  11. Yin Yoga Question

    killer link!!
  12. Noni juice

Cat, Don't know about noni, but Ms. Yoda's Prilosec level stomach acid situation was 100% gone after 2 weeks of a low fat vegan diet. Mine was less severe, but it went away too. Yours, Yoda
  13. By the end of high school? How to get lucky! Seriously though, nothing is coming to mind. I pretty much knew all I wanted to know.
  14. American Personal Income tax

    I hadn't considered that angle!
  15. American Personal Income tax

I've heard that there's only a 1% chance of audit (per lifetime?? per year???). And that auditors don't get their bonuses based on how much they make on the audit, but on how many audits they can run. They want stories circulating like TwoTrees'. What they say is that if paying taxes was optional then absolutely nobody would pay them and we'd get our asses kicked by a Russia, or China, or even Mexico for that matter. So it's absolutely necessary for national security. I'd like to think that they are wrong. That people would all buy hunting rifles at Walmart and rocket launchers online if some foreign aggressor were to roll into my hypothetical tax-free anarchist fantasy. (I'm thinking that my no rules utopia would sell rockets online.) Or maybe (serious fantasy...) we'd be so happy in our anarchist/tax free ways that we wouldn't even manifest enemies in the first place sort of like how the non-violent Quakers just happened to settle next to non-violent indians per the law of attraction theory. Anyone know how aggressive other governments are at collecting? Pavel says that the Russian tax collectors are better versed at kettlebells, martial arts, and AK-47s than they are in accounting principles. Every war the US has fought has created progressively higher, more aggressively collected taxes. And every war the US has fought has done has likewise watered down our beer too. The enlightenment going on in the world will lower taxes and improve our beer eventually. -Yoda
  16. American Personal Income tax

I believe that, but it's just a technicality don't you think?
  17. Is this true... in Germany you pay 60% of your income on taxes??? I've heard it said that it is high in Europe, but I didn't think it was that bad. I've also just heard that the young generation is just chilling out on the welfare system. So they will have to get over their welfare strategy at some point.
  18. Tai Chi dreams?

my dream interpretation philosophy is to focus on the feel of the dream. That vibe is the emotional future you were crafting during the previous day(s). So if you are having fun dreams, keep it up and if not then it's a notice to change course in one's day to day thoughts, feelings, practices, etc.
  19. European taxation rates

Excellent thoughts, thank you. I really get it that GDP/capitalism/taxes aren't everything and that Europe has many advantages over the US... especially the vacation, safety, nightlife, and other lifestyle aspects.
  20. Seeking Help: Qi-gong Zhan Zhuang

Ryan, Welcome to tao bums! Another great thread!! The jing as the least potent system... Cool angle. -Yoda
  21. Qi-Gong Starting Point?

if you are on a budget, the advancedyogapractices.com book and follow up support is free and is by far the best 'big picture' presentation of the meditation and energy cultivation paths that I have found in 20 years of digging.
  22. Zhi Gang Sha #2 on Amazon

Impressive. Maybe all his fans were asked to click buy on a certain date to get to number 1 for a brief moment, etc. They do that on dragondoor occasionally. Looks like his other books are nice. Anyone read them? I've never heard of the guy before.
  23. Hormesis

I just learned a new word! Interesting thread regarding imposing small levels of stress upon the body: http://www.aypsite.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1030
