  1. heel lock

killer combo! Nice suggestion. Some people have mentioned meditation "steaming" sexual energy upwards... thanks to the heel lock, the steaming experience seems to happen all the time. If and when it gets to be too much, I simply get off my heel. Sitting on the heel is easier in bed, btw. Otherwise, I use a sock. -Yoda
  2. Tigress and Jade Dragon

Dafreejohn recommends swallow vs spit for energy reasons. At least somebody can gain from it.
  3. heel lock

Dan, I have that book, I'll review it. It's a winner technique. Esp for mco or any drill that involves visualizing or squeezing down there. I think that squeezing is great in addition to the heel/sock lock technique. They magnify each other and help focus the attention. You can't consciously squeeze in deep meditation though. -Yoda
  4. Post some of your poetry?

there once was a taobum from Nantucket whose balls were the size of a bucket...
  5. holding the breath

When I was a kid, I'd take a 10 lb iron plate and jump in the pool and relax at the bottom. I found it quite addictive and extremely relaxing. Stranger in a Strange Land did the same thing. Another interesting part of the article is on the reading bit. To learn speed reading, you have to learn how to detach your breathing and subvocalization in order to read fast.
  6. Here's a cool trick that fires energy from the back of the brain to the third eye. After meditating for a bit, close your eyes, roll them up to stare at the third eye point, use the tips of your index fingers to gently push your eyeballs up to the third eye point while using the middle fingers to close the nostrils. Take a comfortably deep breath and close the mouth and hold the breath in a relaxed manner so that there is pressure in the nasal cavities. During this time apply some gentle pressure and roll your eyes up to the third eye point. Don't overdo it, just a few reps. Don't do this if you have problems with headaches or health problems in general. You can not only feel the energy, you can see it! -Yoda
  7. holding the breath

Cool article! Maybe Michael Huchins and Osho were just smarter than the rest of us? Matt Furey and Pavel type folks are very into anaerobic type activity like sprinting, hindu squats, kettlebells, etc. They cite that the anaerobic stress entices the body to release lots of good growth and strengthening hormones which is very good for the body. Perhaps even for the mind. In the past, I've commonly maxxed out on this type of activity--it would make me a bit out of sorts. Yogani says that this sort of practice is the cat's meow, but it needs to be done sparingly and in the context of an energy practice that incorporates energy moving up and down the spine as well as daily meditation. Breathing practice is superior to sprints b/c it is very beneficial to meditate immediately after breathing practices as you've just 'plowed' the field and you don't want weedy thoughts to grow from your effort, so planting deeply blissful thoughts is the way to go. An extreme example of breathing and not meditating is the author of "Solitary Fitness" jailed in England who can punch his hand through bullet proof glass, but can never behave for long enough to get out on parole. That article got me to see the parallels between pranayama and anaerobic exercise--it's a link between the worlds of spirituality and athleticism. Thanks! Yoda PS I wonder if nxs' muse came through on a breath suspension type hallucination? Anyone know the details of his death? All I know is that it was an autoasphixiation accident. Too much of a good thing.
  8. Inner Ecstasy

AYP calls it 'inner sensuality' and Winn calls it 'self intercourse.' Per Cam, Yudelove says that inner smile practice is key to sexual practices and I like to think that Inner Sensuality/Self Intercourse is an expression of a very flourishing, 'passionate' inner smile practice. Here's a cool quote from Craig: And as has been discussed, though long ago, on the HT board the more complete solution is to begin and continue with the KanLi sexual self intercourse method. If you really begin to get this going on, things can really shift in the retention process through the resolution of this extra energy within this Kan and Li process. Some students have even reported they feel a diminishment of desire as a result of this. To paraphrase M.Winn "of course if you are having self intercourse all the time you naturally will have less desire" My interpretation of AYP says that the secret of celibacy or tantric sex rests upon igniting inner sensuality. Inner ecstacy seems to be developed by a great many general practices: affirmations, meditation, energy cultivation to specific yogas like kechari and siddhasana (sitting on your heel) anal breathing, sacrum breathing, etc. It's quite likely that it all boils down to just feeling good inside. As Trungpa Rinpoche says you just hang out with yourself long enough to see that you are good. Once this basic goodness/bodhicitta is discovered then all the little yoga tricks become quite powerful. -Yoda
  9. holding the breath

The original lead singer for NXS was into it too. Along with many Japanese teenage boys.
  10. heel lock

use a sock or a ball or something. Worth trying.
  11. Inner Ecstasy

Maybe chi is like money... the more you can accumulate the more you can spend, but everyone--even Bill Gates--needs to stay in balance. Rock stars might be the sperm analogy--they pull in a tremendous amount of energy and they spend a lot too. If they stay in balance they stick around longer.
  12. 27 Chia dvds on ebay...

Looks amazing, but who would actually watch it all??? I have his morning routine which kicks ass and I could lend it out. Chia is sexy in pink. -Yoda
  13. so I finished the book. Okay... it's 'loosely' autobiographical! I'm glad he brought up the kechari mudra for oral sex purposes... Somewhere in the middle of the book, the story aspect did draw me in and I cried at the end. It really fleshes out AYP and contextualizes the practices. If you like the AYP website, this book is a very valuable refinement. -Yoda
  14. an alchemical mantra

I'm searching for instant healing sounds, and I like the sunmoonhome. On NPR this weekend I caught a show about a UCLA professor saying that cells somehow emit soundwaves and he's going to see if the soundwaves that cells from different organs correspond to the Chinese system. He admits that this is pretty far out, and might now come up with anything, but he's hoping to find a way to improve organ health through sound. -Yoda
  15. Farooq, Yeah, I got your pm and so I ordered the book. I'm just past the point where he gets a nasty case of hives from overdoing the pranayama. The photo on the cover is a picture of Yogani taken when we would have been the same age as John and the AYP forum says he lives in Florida. He's a yogi, not an author, so I'd imagine he'd stick close to the story he knows best. Just a hunch, of course, but my radar is sometimes quite accurate. -Yoda
  16. Whenever my family is out of town, I raise the flag every morning. Ken Cohen brought that one to my attention in Way of Qigong. It's a great way to start the day! We don't teach teenagers about this for national sexurity purposes. -Yoda
  17. Inner Ecstasy

It's my understanding of AYP that being sexually active is optional, modest male retention (1xweek max spooging) is important, but sexual activity can be a real boost to one's energy practice, but no substitute for meditation. And, of course, it is fun. Even in the fun dept, it isn't as fun as what's acheivable in meditation. I think that's the basics.
  18. Inner Ecstasy

It's always nice to get another perspective on it. It is more low key. Aside from moderate retention for men, tantric sexuality isn't something that even needs to be practiced. As my goal is bliss rather than enlightenment the problem with tantric sexuality is that it can't be done 24 hours a day. So how do I get my bliss for the rest of the day? That's where inner sensuality kicks in. I'd like to suffer workgasms and lifegasms and all that.
  19. Ken Cohen interview

Yeah baby! That's the spirit! It's very auspicious to dine with a great teacher like Ken.
  20. Ken Cohen interview

If I remember correctly, Rolling Thunder's car wasn't exactly a Lexus or anything.
  21. Conscious Death

What a stud! Didn't feel old till he was 90! Natureboy chi kung.
  22. Ken Cohen interview

What a great project! Good thinking on that!
  23. Is CST the yoga of the future?

Yeah, it's identical to taoist yoga. I don't have Chia's Tao Yin yoga, but there's a lot of overlap between WW and Chia's morning chi kung dvd. Essentially the same.
  24. Is CST the yoga of the future?

It's da bomb. WW is a corny name, though. I'm calling it Zdorovye.
  25. Ken Cohen interview

Spyrelx, Well, his point is that being overweight, even 75 lbs overweight isn't detrimental to your health and I think that will be nice to hear when the news gets out so people don't diet out of a sense of fear and perhaps can have a better sense of acceptance. I fully understand that it's an unorthodox position. The book was well footnoted and based on studies. Time will tell. As I said, I'm all for gettin shredded! -Yoda
