  1. Mikey Likes it!

I like Mike. I like the other Mike on trial right now. I like Mikes in general. -Y
  2. Destiny and Walking in a Circle

Chris, Kid vibration is impossible to follow, but I see it as an example to strive for... they haven't achieved a damn thing on any list yet they really know how to shine. Even when there's contention in the air, I try to keep in mind who's the teacher and who's the student. You should order the BBC Walking with Dinosaurs DVDs if you haven't already. When I can't handle his high vibe, I plug my 2 year old boy, Kell, into Dinosaur theater. Works like a charm! -Kyle PS, I forget what I wrote, but I figured that my last post was too irritating.

  4. A friendly hello

I wasn't always the nicest big brother ever... if he was a real psychopath, I'd have been his first customer. As kids, he was way into new agey ideas and I was extremely disdainful of them. As late teenagers, we both changed our minds to the opposite pole. Chia says in Astral healing that your full personality infuses its final installment from nonphysical during adolescence. Seems to fit my story. This ungrounded, nebulous mystical quest gurgled up during math class and I'm still quite puzzled as to what it is, what to do with it, etc. I'm getting the sense that I won't be finding closure any time soon! -Yoda
  5. Got Bodri's new e-mail. They are always pretty fascinatin stuff. About the 6th Dalai Lama secretly running away from Tibet and discontinuing the lineage. Controversial, of course! His thing about it being easier to practice cultivation in arid landscapes and conditions. I think being in an arid surrounding ups the fire element in the body which could benefit some folks and set others back, I'd imagine. In our firey culture, I'd think some moisture would be of benefit. -Yoda
  6. A friendly hello

Great to keep Taobums in the family! My brother did sign on secretly as True Justice in my personal practice discussion posing as a twisted psychopath to try to get a rise out of me. That particular stunt didn't go anywhere, but I'm sure there are some good possibilities out there for sibs. -Yoda
  7. According to Bodri, number 6 went to China and stayed in China/Mongolia somewhere as a hermit while the Tibetans allegedly found the next Dalai Lama and so forth. So Bodri is claiming that the 1-6 were legitimate, but 7+ are not legitimate. As a student of the Tibetans, this kind of allegation happens all the time. There's a very long history extending to the present of this sort of allegation between the Tibetans, the Mongolians, and the Chinese... they all claim to have found their own reincarnation of various important lineages. Everyone is trying to manipulate each other. One thing that only the lamas really get, is that it is easy for one nonphysical "entity" to reincarnate into different bodies--so there can be multiple simultaneous reincarnations of masters going on in different places. This is true for the manipulative rulers as well, so you could have the same exact cast of characters on two sides of a dispute. Actually the Dalai Lama title and line of succession was itself created by sword point by the Mongolians. Just the lama in question was pretty crafty and up to the challenge of protecting the Tibetans from further Mongolian bullying and to keep the new lineage going. Maybe the 6th did become a hermit in China and maybe the Tibetans did find #7 before #6 died, but so what? -Yoda
  8. Noni juice

keep mixing--maybe coke or OJ or do some kind of frozen smoothie thing. -Y
  9. Mikey Likes it!

How old is he? Maybe you can teach him retention and he can have a dramatic comeback like Foreman did. -Yoda

Chris, Follow your son's vibe. That's the great thing about kids--you get your own personal Rinpoche! -Yodster

  12. Alchemy Weight Training

my 5 year old daughter kicks ass in the bridge--it's very natural for kids, so that's a clue that it might be the ticket to keeping one's life childlike. -Yoda
  13. Alchemy Weight Training

I have Pavel's joint mobility book and I follow Steve Maxwell's joint mobility routine which has elements of both Pavel and Sonnon, from what I'm told. I agree that the bridge is the bomb, but I've never worked with it consistently. Mine doesn't look near as good as Sean's. I'm shopping around looking for a pet feat in the strength/flexibility dept to work on, and I'm thinking that handstand training and bridging have the best bang for the buck--very energizing, keeps the chi flowing, and good for showing off too. -Yoda
  14. I was thinking that a board entitled Taoist Running/Zen Running or whatever could bring in some runners looking for cool angles on their craft. Right now, there are pleasant pockets re: physical training going on in the main discussion board and especially in the personal practice discussion. Maybe just do the dreaded 90 day test on the subject to see if it still exists before giving it some floorspace. -Yoda
  15. Hindu Squats

I haven't done hindu squats in awhile, but wanted to try Tripp's idea and tired out at one hundred, but it was extremely nice to forget about counting. When I did them often, I'd use one of those clicker counters. Then I got inspired to climb up on my two story roof for some repair work, when I realized that I had sewing machine legs! Fortunately, I soldiered through, but it wasn't the brightest idea I've ever hatched. -Yoda

Half Kenyan? Way cool! We've got to get that mileage up somehow! We'll figure something out. You are definitely periodizing but I'm wondering if you periodized enough. I used to have a pattern that I'd always get injured just as I was getting into the groove of a particular training program. Every few months, I'd have a minor pull or tweak that threw me. Now that I've read Pavel, I've understood that you need to actually allow yourself to de-train and actually loose a level of conditioning every so often. Mind you, I've never run more than 8 miles at a time, but if Oprah can run a 4:30 marathon so can a taobum. -Yoda

Have you researched the esoteric branches? Have you read Kaplan's Jewish Meditation? Kabalistic stuff? I had an opportunity to train with Rabbi Twerski in Denver, CO and he, personally, was the bomb but his temple was pretty far out (Hassidic). Lots of zenlike tales of past masters. He was tons of fun. There's got to be a fun Rabbi led discussion group somewhere in Chicago. Definitely don't blow off the Hassidics. Despite their OCD issues, they have a lot going on. Don't be embarrassed about having the perfect life. That embarrassment arises from a sense of sympathy or empathy for the plight of others but it will just hold you back from greater happiness. The more happy you are the more of a light you are to the world. As Mother Theresa said--"If you want to be in my organization you must smile and spread joy. If you are not happy, you must leave--you are of no use to me." Choosing to take birth in a friendly, wealthy family is good--leverage it as much as you can. Choosing to take birth in a challenging situation is like a good tennis player who doesn't always want to play against somebody he or she can easily beat--they need challenging opponents in order to grow and enjoy their craft. I believe that taking a physical body is like deciding to play a game of football--you have to voluntarily accept and take on certain procedures, rules, the limitations of your teamates, support staff, equipment budget, the dynamics of the opposing team, and other zillions of limiting variables. But we do this to have fun and to focus our energy and to grow. As our Mahalingham wisely said, "The reason we take birth is to have sex--doing that in the spirit world would be like trying to fuck an open window with a feather." Same thing. We all get caught up in all the rules and get down from time to time, but we usually figure something out sooner or later. Failing that, we just start over in a fresh little body. Regardless of the specific paradigm one adopts, it's very nice to put one's life experience into as friendly as possible "big scheme". Funner that way. More chi too. It sounds like you got some time on your hands, you should take up running with the rest of us! -Yoda

Osho says that you can benefit by doing one hour a day in pitch darkness for about 30 days.

Tarahuma are basically Apaches who live just south of the border, yes? I've heard of Marathon Monks but I thought that they walked incessantly. Low protien? I noticed that the Tarahumas ate lots of carbs. I've been low carb to keep the flab off, but maybe if I start running a lot I can switch over. Wait! I just googled around and the Lung gompa monks of Tibet make the Tarahuma and the Marathon Monks look like couch potatoes. And they get some stargazing trancework in while they are at it. http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:lTOhC...s&hl=en&start=8 -Y

Here's a bit on the Tarahumara indians: http://www.lehigh.edu/dmd1/public/www-data/art.html To my disapointment, they do not run barefoot if they can help it. They use tire tread sandals, but those often fall apart during a race and they simply do without. They ran barefoot back in the day, of course. They run marathon distances daily! It's my theory that since they don't have to mess with padded shoes, their stride is more natural and energy efficient and less prone to injury--hence they can handle the mileage. Perhaps wearing racing flats is a way to replicate their current training. Interesting that their competitive success in the Ultramarathons seems to run hot and cold. Also, one of the Tarahumara winners of an Ultramarathon was 55 years old as cited in the above article. -Yoda

Kickin thread!!! Today, I sampled various taoism on the run practices--micro, inner smiles, five animal channelling, ancestor channelling, etc. Microcosmic orbit while running really gets me high and a bit light headed. It has that effect when I do it sitting, but it's even stronger when running. It was fun to run with the animals and ancestors but my ancestors kept showing up as South American Indians!!! I guess Ron's imagery of the practice just got stuck in my head. By the way, go to national geographic website and search for gene study... for $100 they do a gene test on you and find out your direct maternal and direct paternal lineages and they'll give you ongoing updates as the study continues. They'll track your ancestry for thousands of years. Already, they have discovered that all human beings are the descendent of one mother 60,000 years ago. They don't ask for your identity and you can do the whole thing through a PO Box or a friend's address and remain totally confidential if you want to keep your bloodline secret from the men in black and the grays and all that. Mrs Yoda and I will check it out. Running rocks as a practice and is very helpful to help digest/process/distribute energies from other practices esp. standing, sungazing, and sexual cultivation. Running is better than kettlebells and combat conditioning for me b/c KBs and CC I'm looking at my watch after 10 minutes and usually quit at or before 15 minutes and that's not long enough to really get into a nice groove, plus there's lots of stop and start action in that short period of time. Once I get into the groove of running, I'll throw in pistols and yes...one arm pullup training... its time has come! I'll finally get it this time around and beat Plato to the grail. Cool about sun salutations to kick off a session--before running I do my sungazing just to get charged up. I like Ron's training. Like his other projects, it's unorthodox but there's a very deep and well thought out logic behind it. Always important to consider his angle on things. There's a book out there on how African runners train. They train hard. I'll check it out at some point. -Yoda

Ron mentioned that he does micro while running.

  24. Ok 2012 Mayan Prophecy Poll

It seems to me that all change is gradual and step-by-step even though it sometimes looks dramatic from the outside. Sort of like "suddenly" discovering that you are bald, fat, etc. Or a glacier slowly melting then suddenly breaking in two. I think that the vibe on the planet is improving slowly but surely and maybe 2012 could be a subtle shift in perspective. I do think that fundamental changes in technology and mindset really have sped up our evolution.... humans expect more change these days so we will get more and this will keep snowballing. I predict that life on earth will change MUCH more in the next 100 years than it has in the last 100 years regardless of the Mayan dudes. Was it the Mayans who sacrificed people? I thought it was the Aztecs. In any case, it sounds like another tale of overdoing sungazing and other fire practices! -Yoda
  25. revenge of the sith

Just saw it--awesome movie!!!! The whole thing breaks down if you really think about it as there really is no dark side and no 'selfless' light side in real life nor in the movie. There were lots of things that weren't convincing-- Anakin's conversion, Jedi's getting duped all the time, Sith lineage transmission (students always kill there master, so why bother with having a lineage?), etc. Having said that, I dig the Sith philosophy of 'darkness' it's very Osho--not rejecting selfishness and badness or any aspect of life that Jedis, spiritual seekers, idealists, governments, etc try to reject. This very rejection of darkness and evil is why the Sith or W has such an easy time controlling Yoda, the Senate, and everyone else. Understand the light but stick with the dark. Anyone who really understands the dark side is by nature a lazy tao master knowing with certainty that life is always absolutely perfect. Defitely a must see. Up there with the original movies. -Yoda
