My understanding of the Egyptian Ka and the Akh and Shade
Yoda replied to Apech's topic in General Discussion
I keep wondering about reincarnation here. Does the Egyptian system believe in reincarnation? I've heard it said that Pythagoras got his belief in reincarnation from studying in Egypt. I wonder about the same thing in the Chinese system. On the one hand, if you believe in reincarnation why mess with such huge complexities as you'll have plenty of opportunities in another physical life? On the other hand, spiritual lineages dry up all the time around here so you'd better make the most of the spiritually inclined eras and milk every aspect of your experience that you can. In any case, Apepch7, thanks for all your thoughts!! It sounds like you have personally verified many aspects of Egyptian practice, too! Which is also pretty amazing. Your pal, Yoda -
Here's an interesting question: which is more important the practice or the transfer?? On second thought, that's probably a chicken and egg thing. Although the answer has to be the transfer. Even if one doesn't practice kunlun after the transfer, Max's energy will still be of huge assistance in other practices or just in the course of normal living and dying.

Welcome to taobums, Streetcat!

Like Cam said, Max and/or his facilitators would touch one of those 3 points at various times during the class. My subjective experience is that there is a strong charge in the air that Max sends out. It felt different from other empowerments that I've been to, but that's all I can say at my level of perception. The first time I saw him, it felt like my pineal gland doubled in size in just a few hours time.

Amazing writeup, thanks!! -
Apepch7, I know that there has been contention about whether or not the pyramids were intended primarily as tombs or not. I read one book by an engineer who suggests that the pyramids were not tombs but were built for religious rituals. He believes that the structure of the Great Pyramid was devised with accoustics in mind in terms of the precise dimensions, angles, and building materials used and that the odd contraption you have to pass through to get to the King's Chamber is for fine tuning soundwaves. If you have a moment, I'd love your thoughts on that. I ordered "The Sacred Tradition in Ancient Egypt" by Rosemary Clark and her other book on magic which are supposed to be convincing spiritual adaptations from someone who has a grasp on basic Egyptology. I figure that it'll at least get the brainstorming machine fired up. Thanks for your patience with us... I bet you didn't think you'd get put to work when you joined TBs, did you? Your pal, Yoda

ddilulo_06, I think that we are all in this same basic situation. I think all cultivation traditions address this point effectively and kunlun is no exception. Finding a path that clicks for you is key. I think in the beginning stages of a cultivation path, where I'm at, the desire for approval is gently soothed. But during intermediate stages of the path, the desire for approval gets its butt kicked as the energies you are incorporating simply don't mix well with what others think so you consciously fire them from your board of directors. But you'll need patience in the meantime. Let us know how you like the book. Your pal, Yoda

So what's up with those pyramids?

Actually, now that you say that, I think I remember somewhere Lao tzu being called a dragon. (?)

Apepch7, No sah?? I'm a big fan of spiritually inspired and/or highly poeticized translations, but I think it's a good thing to let the reader know how far off track from the normal interpretation it is as a courtesy. Per the book, it seemed that Omm Sety had a pretty scaled down ritual: beer and incense for handmade statues of Isis and Osiris... almost like doing a beer run for the gods. And whenever anyone would invade her space as a single, female, foreigner in the middle of nowhere might sometimes expect, she'd pray to Osiris to make the needed adjustments which would often happen. She seemed to say that there was a certain pecking order and that nobody messed with or complained about it. There were some things she didn't like, but she accepted it as the way things are with the system. The Egyptian texts, from what I glean, seem to have that sort of simple, straightforward functionality to them... sort of like an instruction manual. Does that sound about right? Your pal, Yoda

Steam, Thanks for your very interesting thoughts! Very interesting about Christianity being a fairly straight up adaptation of Egyptian thought. Apepch7, So you've touched on Ka and Ba. I was wondering if you could do an intro on the Akh? I seem to remember a few more bodies than that in the Egyptian tradition, but maybe I had just come across different names. Thanks! Yoda -
This thread is excellent but misleading in the sense that it's left brained. Check out AugustLeo's practice discussion for a flavor of what the practice can be like, but best to try the practice out directly. There's a unusual vibe that is hard to talk about but present even in the first practice session.

Apepch7, I wonder if finding one's Ba might be sort of the same lines as the soul retrieval type of practice? Is it possible to find your ba a little at a time or does it always stay in one piece? I've never had a particular connection to the Egyptian tradition other than a possible past life memory that I was a member of a priesthood on the receiving end of an "Egyptian inquisition." Then I started sungazing and my dreams were swarming with pleasant and unpleasant but always exciting experiences of Egyptian gods and priests and so forth. It got too intense, so I quit the practice more or less. I'll watch a sunset only every so often now. It's only recently that I've learned that the Egyptian tradition is hugely foundational for many esoteric traditions, hence my current effort to get at least a modest degree of understanding. But why did the sun inspire Egyptian experiences??? I can believe that the sun carries Ba energy. Yoda

I think the Kunlun energy is appropriate for some but isn't a good fit for others like with Scotty's partner or the mixed responses on taobums as an example. Everyone reacts differently. My daughter mastered kunlun in about 5 seconds but my son doesn't grok it. A good intro thread to look at is: http://www.thetaobums.com/index.php?showtopic=4174 Honestly, don't worry about the lack of RP in the book... Kunlun practice will keep you occupied.
