Ian, Welcome to taobums! Yoda

When transdimensional dudes cross over to physically interact with you, you are definitely out of the harbor and into deep water. I would get with a teacher who has a lot of experience with this sort of thing to help you put together an action plan. If you are free, you might consider flying out to Phoenix mid November for the Max workshop.

No plus it's not near as interesting as aliens. Kunlun on the other hand...

Plato has one. I'd look for them used, if I were to check it out. While the article claimed that the action of standing produces vibrations in the muscles that the platform mimicked and that running, walking, and rebounding wouldn't do the trick, I'm inclined to think that walking etc would work fine, but stance training would be spot on. I have a foot massager that I could sit on, I suppose. the vibrating thing just doesn't sound fun, though. I mean, to stand on.

good point, Vortex, airfairs are low right now. Keep that in mind East Coast!

I just used a wool blanket for the first time this year and the groovy vibes, along with the toastiness, really impressed me. I've heard Paramahansa Yogananda talk about it as a meditation aid, that it shields one from materialistic vibrations, but I haven't heard much more said on the topic. I think I'll use a wool blanket as a mattress topper the rest of the year.

I checked into it. They got to 109,000 ft and the parachute deployed on the way down, but they never found it or recovered the photos. Here's the photo of what they would've seen: http://www.boingboing.net/2007/10/26/diy-b...on-sent-up.html

Unless Mantra68 okays it, I would consider any sort of variation to be not advisable.

Now that we are all suddenly a bunch of jet setter conference attendees, it'd be fun to draw up a taobum tshirt designed to make us really popular around the hotel pool. But that's as far as my idea took me. Maybe Sean could throw 15 minutes of his expertise towards a design?

interesting article on ecstatic altered states posted by Drew Hempel. Fun links on taoist astology from Taomeow: Thanks for the link, Sean, looks pretty cool. So I got a copy of Witch's "Orgasmic Diet" available on amazon. It got some killer reviews and I appreciated her book tour here at taobums, so I decided to check it out. Haven't read it all yet, but I've enjoyed it. It's all about upping dopamine levels by increasing fish oil intake and dark chocolate, reducing caffeine and junk carbs and antidepressants. It contrasts with "Peace Between the Sheets" by Robinson which tries to lower dopamine and raise oxytocin the companionship neurotransmitter. Here's a quote from a woman who has tried the diet: "I was 48 when I started (now 50). I have always had a high libido and enjoyed sex. I only ever climaxed through clitoral stimulation and never during intercourse, but it never bothered me... over the previous couple of years though I discovered that I was gradually losing clitoral sensitivity. I believed it was related to perimenopause. After some time on the Orgasmic Diet, I began to regain a little clitoral sensitivity, the the more remarkable thing was that I started having vaginal/g-spot orgasms including ejaculatory and spontaneous ones. This was entirely new for me. I can tell in the morning if I forgot to take the fish oil the night before--I miss my usual morning libido surge!" I'm not a huge fan of the recommended Zone diet, and the book is geared for women, but I think the recommendations can be adapted for men. For instance, doing tailbone contractions instead of using a gyneflex, porn instead of chocolate, etc.

Liminal Luke, I think that teachers like Lama Max who see being gay as a positive thing are more the exception than the rule and I admire his courage and insight to be able to pluck the fly out of the ointment. Esther says that there are a growing number of spirits who absolutely refuse to fit in with the constrictive ideals active on this planet. These spirits will go so far as to be born physically different in some way so that it would be absolutely impossible for their parents, society, etc to change their minds and to fit them into the system. She says that being gay is one way of achieving this. Such souls are powerful bodhisattvas who are willing to put up with more hardships and confusions in order to transmute and uplift the energy on the planet for every one's benefit. Just don't expect a thank you note!! I'd treat this thread just like every other thread on taobums... we all have different beliefs and we all follow our own hearts... just the way the Great Webmaster intended it. Your pal, Yoda

A few months ago, I had the strong urge to smoke which lasted over a week, so I smoked some NAS red pack... maybe 4 cigarettes total and I was fine. Didn't touch them since. Maybe I needed to clear some lung dampness or something. I prefer using NAS red pack tobacco in a pipe... it's better to do w/o the paper, imo. Used daily, I find that it displaces my desire for juicing and exercise, so I'd definitely avoid it as a regular thing. Cam, I'll bring some clays out (hopefully they'll make it past security) to see if they can do the same thing as tobacco in a more balanced way. Whatever Big Max says would be definitive as you are following his process.
